It comes with light and dark editions.
This skin is created by Michael Murray and it's the successor of the Netbook skin for FM 2011.
Released: 15 Jan 2011
Screenshots :Click on the thumbnails for full size.
Installation instructions:Download the skin and follow the steps below to get it into your game:
Extract the file (using either 7-Zip for Windows or The Unarchiver for Mac).
Copy the folders you extracted into your skins folder this is by default (you may need to create the skins folder if it doesn’t already exist):
Win Vista/7: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2012\skins
Win XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2012\skins
Mac OS X: /Users/<username>/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2012/skins
If you cannot find your user data folder:
If you are having problems getting the game to run due to your screen size being below 1024x768 you will need to add the --small_screen --windowed command to the Launch Options for Football Manager 2012 in Steam:
In your Steam Library right click on Football Manager 2012 -> Properties -> General -> Set Launch Options and type in the box that appears "--small_screen --windowed" (without the " ") click OK then close the window and run FM2012 through steam it should now open in windowed mode, you should then be able to select the netbook skin in the preferences menu.
Applying the skin:To select the skin in game you will need to:
- load the game, and go into the preferences -> Display and Sound menu
- untick ‘Use Skin Cache’ and tick ‘Always Reload Skin On Confirm’ then select confirm and
- select the skin from the drop down menu, select confirm again and your new skin should now display. (Once the skin is loaded you can turn the skin cache back on and untick the Always Reload button.)
If you cannot get into the preferences screen there are two alternative methods to change your skin:
In your Steam Library right click on FM2012 -> Properties -> General -> Set Launch Options and add this line to what you have added above: " --skin=netbook2012" without the " but with the space at the start, when you load the game it will select the skin referenced there 'netbook2012' in this case. (To change skins you'll need to delete or modify this line) So the full line should now look like this:
--small_screen --windowed --skin=netbook2012
Manually adjust one of the xml files, first you may need to enable view hidden files, then browse to:
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2012\settings
Vista\Windows 7: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2012\settings
Inside that folder will be a list of xml files (they may all be inside a subfolder for some reason), now you want to scroll down until you find the 'skin.xml' file open this with notepad and you will see something like this:
<string id="valu" value="netbook2012"/>
Where it says netbook2012 will be the name of your currently selected skin, to select the netbook2012 skin type netbook20112 as shown above and save the file. The game will now load with the netbook2012 skin selected.
When you load FM2012, maximise the window as that should resize the window so it is no longer cut off, you can also move or auto-hide the windows taskbar to give yourself some extra space.
NOTE: Whilst the Tactics and Set-Piece Creators still cannot be resized they can be actually used: if you click on them they will automatically shift to the bottom of the panel and clicking again will shift them back to the top.
Please note the above skin is provided as is, it is nothing to do with Sports Interactive or SEGA and won't be supported by them.
