it really depends how strong your team is.if you are managing a weak/lower league team he can make an instant impact and take a key role and will be improving a lot.
if you are with a top team he won't be playing a big role of course.

I even risked him in the first season with AC Milan and he scored some wicked long range efforts and freekicks!He's to buy at around the third season, I'm currently managing Inter and I bought 50% of his services via co-ownership so hopefully in two years time I'll buy him for 3 mln only!
Also Radji Nainggolan from Piacenza is a decent player and improves a lot after a couple of seasons.. cheers
