Season snapshot
The first order of business was to get my starting eleven and bench situated. One thing I forgot, not having played lower leagues in quite some time, was that I only bring five subs instead of seven. This made my decision to run a standard 442 that much easier to make - it allows for a good number of interchangeable parts, and with five subs I need as many players that can play two (or more) positions.
The second order of business was to get my entire first team and coaching staff signed to full time contracts. Being a part time team, it is essential that we get as much training time, and therefore growth, as possible. Even though we aren't a full time team, I want us to practice and be coached like one.
And last, but certainly not least, the third order of business was to get a couple of money-making friendlies scheduled. I canceled the handful of friendlies that were already on the slate in favor of games that would bring in tens of thousands of dollars worth of revenue. For a lower league club, this is revenue that would normally take two or three games to generate vs league opponents.
Here is a quick look at my rotation:
Goalkeeper (D) - Chris Clarke
Full Back (Auto) - Matt Smith, Dean Hooper
Central Defender (D) - Gary Warren, Martyn Giles
Central Defender (D) - Aaron Cook, Martyn Giles
Full Back (Auto) - Dean Hooper, Martyn Giles
Wide Midfielder (Auto) - Charlie Henry, Tony Bedeau
Deep Lying Playmaker (S) - Danny Rose, Sam Foley
Ball Winning Midfielder (D)- Wayne Turk, Nathan Davies
Wide Midfielder (Auto) - James Burgin, Takumi Ake
Advanced Forward (A)- Craig Reed, Tony Bedeau
Deep Lying Forward (S)- David Gilroy, Takumi Ake
