A successful season has seen Toulouse claim a number of Ligue 1 awards

• Toulouse captain Cristian Pavon was named Ligue 1 Player of the Year
• Predrag Rajkovic, Dominique Arribage and Wissam Ben Yedder claimed individual honours
• The Ligue 1 XI of the Season saw five Toulouse players named in the side

In a season which saw them finish as Ligue 1 champions for the second time in club history, Toulouse have been rewarded with a number of individuals receiving end of season awards as well as five players being named in the Ligue 1 XI of the Season.

After taking over as captain following the departure of Emanuel Mammana, Cristian Pavon has been named Ligue 1 Player of the Year, scoring 16 goals and providing 8 assists in 34 appearances. Predrag Rajkovic was named Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Season, Wissam Ben Yedder finished the season as Ligue 1 Top Goalscorer and Dominique Arribage was named Ligue 1 Manager of the Year.

“It is an honour to be named Ligue 1 Player of the Year and I would just like to say thank you to all the players and staff at the Toulouse Football Club who have helped me to achieve this award.” said Toulouse captain Cristian Pavon. “I am thrilled to see that a number of my teammates and our manager have also been recognised for their efforts this season.” he added.

The announcement of the Ligue 1 XI of the Season saw Cristian Pavon, M’Baye Niang, Predrag Rajkovic, Srdan Babic and William Matheus all named for Toulouse. David Luiz, Edinson Cavani. Marco Verratti and Raheem Sterling made the side from Paris Saint-Germain while Fabinho from AS Monaco and Seri from OGC Nice completed the side.

2018/19 Season Review

-----

Ligue 1

Winning the Ligue 1 title for the second time, Toulouse performed tremendously and finished with the highest points total in the history of the competition. Toulouse battled Paris Saint-Germain for a majority of the season but finished the season nine points ahead of their title rivals.

After being underestimated by pundits over the past few years, Toulouse will head into next season with the expectation of repeating their performance while Paris Saint-Germain are likely to spend big once again in order to to become the leading side in French football.

-----

UEFA Champions League

On the back of their strong performance in the competition in the previous season, Toulouse managed to get out of the group stage once again before being eliminated by Arsenal in the Round of 16.

Despite not improving on their result in the previous year, Toulouse will be encouraged by consistently exceeding expectations placed on them by the media in achieving positive results in European football.

-----

French Cup

Toulouse failed to retain the French Cup when they were defeated 1-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final stage of the competition.

The highlight of the French Cup campaign for Toulouse was Kelechi Iheanacho scoring four goals against FC Fleury 91.

-----

Coupe de la Ligue

Despite adding depth to their squad at the start of the season, Toulouse continue to struggle in the Coupe de la Ligue when they were eliminated by AS Monaco in the opening round of the competition.

The competition remains the only trophy in French football that Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage has yet to claim during his time at the club.

-----

French Champions Trophy

For the third season in a row, Toulouse won the French Champions Trophy when they defeated Paris Saint-Germain in a penalty shoot-out.

They will face Paris Saint-Germain again in the French Champions Trophy at the start of the next season after they defeated En Avant de Guingamp to claim the French Cup.

-----

Player Of The Season

Cristian Pavon

After Oscar Trejo won the award for the past three seasons, Toulouse captain Cristian Pavon has been named the Player of the Season. The 23-year-old scored 18 goals and provided 10 assists during 45 games this season.

Joining Toulouse from Boca Juniors in the 2015/16 season for €6.25 million, Pavon has proven to be incredible with the ball at his feet, making him a nightmare for opposition defences. His incredible form has been rewarded by receiving his first call up to the Argentinian national squad where he will travel to Brazil to play in the Copa America.

-----

Leading Goalscorer

Wissam Ben Yedder

Showing no signs of slowing down in his ninth season with Toulouse, Wissam Ben Yedder scored 29 goals in 42 games across all competition. The 28-year-old was once again the leading goalscorer in Ligue 1, finishing equal with Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain on 25 goals but finishing with the award after playing less games.

Despite his consistent form over the course of the season, Ben Yedder has not been selected for the French national team with Remi Garde preferring the likes of Karim Benzema, Anthony Martial and Alexandre Lacazette.

-----

Most Assists

M’Baye Niang

For the second season in a row, M’Baye Niang has finished with the most assists for Toulouse. The 24-year-old ended the season with 17 assists, proving to be a vital player amongst the Toulouse squad by taking on opposition defences with his pace and acceleration.

Despite not yet making his international debut, Niang has been called into the French squad which is set to play Italy in the UEFA Nations League semi-final. The consistent performances from Niang has seen the likes of Juventus and Manchester United interested in his services heading into next season.

-----

Goal Of The Season

Emanuel Mammana

-----

Signing Of The Season

Victor Moses

Arriving on loan from Chelsea at the start of the season, Victor Moses proved to be Mr. Fix-It during the season by filling in for Cristian Pavon, M’Baye Niang and Serge Gnarby when they were unavailable for selection.

Moses provided a constant impact whether he was starting or coming off the bench and quickly become a player to watch by scoring some fantastic goals.

-----

Young Player Of The Season

Cristian Pavon

Despite being captain, the 23-year-old Cristian Pavon found himself still eligible for the Young Player of the Season, winning the award for the third time. Toulouse have continued to sign young players for their first team squad this season, an investment which could prove to be very rewarding in future years.

Toulouse appear to have a number of talented players in their youth team with the side winning the French Under 19s Group 2 for the second time in four years. The squad includes players such as Hernan Lanoix, Marco Carbone and Sami Benali who are all considered to be future first team players.

Not often you see a centre back claim goal of the season but that is some strike from Mammana
