Decided to start a game with man city, in the pre-season i signed william gallas, van der vaart, maxi rodriguez and a load of young guys and didnt sell anybody. my target is 5th place.

my friendlys went fairly well except from a shocking draw at rotherham

my season gets off to a great start with a hattrick from robinho which leads to a 5-0 win against portsmouth

this is followed up by a tight loss away at stamford bridge with emmanuel adebayor scoring after three minutes but lampard replied on six minutes then drogba nicked a late winner with 88 minutes gone

after a 4-1 win against barnsley in the carling cup we thrashed hull 5-0 followed by a good 3-2 win against tottenham at white hart lane

next we had liverpool which ends 2-0 to man city after a brace from maxi rodriguez

then we face hull in the cup which we win 3-1 and then we moved on to a tough away match at wigan which we won 3-1

after the first few games my results look like this. we were 2nd i believe

after that win we moved on to a tough away match at wigan which we won 3-1 and then a 1-0 win at home against blackburn which maxi rodriguez scored the only goal then a 4-1 win against fulham.

then we won 3-1 at home against wolves and then 4-0 away at middlesbrough in the 4th round of the cup. then we drew away 1-1 at aston villa.

then we regained momentum with a 3-1 win (theres loads of those) away at sunderland which was followed up with a 2-0 win at home against stoke.

then we came back down to earth with a 1-0 loss at arsenal in which we couldnt capitalize on a alex song sending off in the first half. we also lost top spot.

we got back on track we a 3-0 win against portsmouth in the carling cup quarter final and a 2-1 win against everton where carlos tevez scoring in the 89th minute. but then we drew 3-3 at bolton who were doing quite well at the time

this is my results after the next few games

after that i beat burnley 3-0 but then i go to old trafford and got well and truly beat by man united 2-0

then i beat birmingham 3-0 and then i drew 2-2 at home against chelsea after a late equalizer by robinho

after that we beat west ham at upton park 3-1 and beat peterborough 4-0 in the fa cup.

then it was january and i bought a few players including jack rodwell and angel di maria and sold vincent kompany

then i played chelsea in the carling cup semi final 1st leg which i lost after a freak own goal

then i had 2 wins against portsmouth and hull 2-0 and 4-2 but then it was the second leg

a heartbreaking loss and that means were out of the carling cup. but the board werent bothered about the cup anyway.

but then we only managed to get a draw against coventry after a shay given blunder but we got back to winning ways against tottenham winning 4-1

this is the table after the 26th january 2010

i then played liverpool at anfield and we managed a sensational win with jack rodwell coming off the bench to score on his debut after 66 mins but then voronin scored on a great individual effort but adebayor got the win after 88 mins. 3rd 10 points ahead of arsenal in 4th with 13 games to go and just got the nigeria job

after that we got wins against coventry which was 3-1 in the fa cup 4th round replay and 2-0 against wigan and then a 4-1 win against blackburn. thats a 7 wins in a row in the league!

some recent fixtures

another win in the cup 2-0 away at bolton and then a 2-1 win against wolves and a 4-1 against villa. were flying! and the wins didnt stop there, we won for ages and ages! we even got to the fa cup final. these are the fixtures coming to the home stretch. i was 1st by a point.

so coming to the home strech, 3 games to go, burnley away? easy? thats what i thought.

and chelsea won at home against liverpool so i was losing. i had man u at home and birmingham away while chelsea had wigan away and blackburn at home

so a great win against scummers keeps us in the title race as chelsea expectedly thrashed wigan.

so last day, i beat birmingham 6-0, was it good enough to win the title?

so it wasnt to be, i was second, but it was a great effort. i was abit gutted, especially because of conceding a late equaliser at burnley i lost the title. bring on the fa cup final!

so a great end to a great season, cant wait for next season!

ooh, and if anybody has 20 odd million spare, buy maxi rodriguez put him behind the strikers. quality

i would first like to say sorry for my bragging about leeds man u, it was un called for

my friendlys went ok, with a tour of china and the only slip up a draw at derby but i dont control them anyway

our first important match was the community shield against chelsea which we lost 2-0. they seem to be my bogey team.

our first premier league match was at home against everton which we won 4-0. but then we travelled to hull for a seemingly easy win.

then we travelled to stamford bridge for a bore draw and then 2 wins against newcastle and bolton 2-0 and 2-1. and then we had our first champions league match away at porto which we just came up short losing 2-1. the board want me to reach the final come on!

then i play a frustrating match at home against arsenal which adebayor gets injured for a few weeks in the last few minutes

after that i won 5-2 away at reading in the carling cup but then i had a poor draw against stoke

after that we got our first points of the champions league after a 3-0 win against roma but our league woes continue as we draw against aston villa.

these are the fixtures after the first few games

after that we won 1-0 at notts forest and then won 3-0 at steua in the champions league after that 3-1 against middlesborough then 4-1 in the carling cup against bristol city

Whilst your squad line-up looks very strong on paper, their consistency isn't the best. You seem to draw more than you should and those 2 points between a win & draw can make the difference at the end of the season. For example you produce the goods with a good 4-0 win over Everton but then lose 1-0 to Hull. Do you use the same tactic all the time? And try bringing on subs at the end of the match to secure the win, for e.g against Stoke, that should have been a win, so after you scored your 86th min goal you should have brought on subs and switched to "contain" mentality. Apart from consistency I think your team has the make-up for the title this season.

joefeery : thanks for the tip, i have been trying different tactics recently and have found attacking tactic works the best usually, i do use control abit thats when ive drawn usually though

My personal experiences with using the contain tactic is that it's just too conservative. Maybe it's different with stronger sides that have a bit more pace and decision making/composure, but my teams seem to get too defensive and allow a ton of shots on goal.

When I try to kill off matches, I usually switch to the defense tactic at ~80 minutes. Most times, however, I just let things ride on the counter tactic. I think it allows for enough aggressive play to keep the opposition from pouring on the attacking pressure. The last thing I enjoy seeing is a barrage of shots on my keeper with the game winding down.

Villa is amazing regardless of age. He's 31 in my FM and he knocks them in like he can't be bothered. Great Signing. It's important for big teams to have good keepers, they win you the game when you face a tough side.
