I'll try to list all reported issues with v1.1 here, as a summary of problems to be fixed. In other words, a little time saver for Eugene.

1. Loading error: Person Data seems to be corrupt.
This is the most wi(l)dely reported error. It happens if you try to load a game started with 10.3 patch.

2. Compressed save game issue returns?
Trying to load a compressed save game throws an error in Russian and it has the "Compress Save Games" words in it.

3. Program won't run at all or will crash.
This seems to happen on Vista environment (Vista and 7) even if you try to run it in XP mode. Someone reported problem with XP, but personally I'm on XP and it runs fine.

What works with v1.1:
- Save games that have been updated to 10.3 but started with 10.2 or earlier.
- Uncompressed save games
- Windows XP only from the reports so far

How can you help:
Confirm what has been written here and/or post any new findings.
Thanks for your time guys, I'm sorry for the problems with new version. I hope they will be fixed soon.

I have windows XP home and it simply won't load at all.

This is odd because all the previous versions (I still have v1 on my laptop) load fine.

Thanks mate
Apart from the problems, there are also good things that happened today. One is that at least we had a new version, and along with Eugene's promise to try and fix all major problems I believe we can hope for another version.
I'm also very happy that today the site surpassed an all time record from 2008. Previous record was 713 users online, and it now extends to 811.
I'm a positive thinker, so I always try to see the bright side of things.

i downloaded v1.1 to my win xp professional with SP2 laptop and the programmed opened up fine - but i have no savegames on the laptop so i then also downloaded it to my win xp home edition desktop with sp3 (which is where my games are) and the programme will not run.

kind of frustrating to have the scout on one machine and the savegames on another.

incidentally, i may have been a little over-enthusiastic when i first saw that the game opened on the laptop as i made a donation to Eugene to get the no adverts version - others who were thinking of doing the same may want to hold fire until these issues are resolved and genie 1.1 is working.

i'd like to add another vote to the "not working at all on any operating system launched after 2001" issue, although unlike the error message pictured mine was in english, not french. arf

looking forward to none-too-tardy remedy of this issue

update:

- copied a save game to the laptop tried to load genie 1.1 off a memory stick plugged into lap top and it works fine

- plugged same memory stick into desktop and the genie will not run
