Tactics and training help.

If you need help with tactics and training at FM 09 post it in this thread and hopefully someone will help you out.

But be sure you include some of the following:

- The team your managing
- The players
- Explain what your having troubles with and what you need help with(Be exact)
- DON'T JUST SAY I WANT HELP WITH TACTICS! Give proper information on everything.
- Be elaborate about your training set ups etc.
- DONT MAKE NEW THREADS FOR TACTICAL HELP! Every stupid thread created will be deleted. Help will be provided in this thread!

hi, do you have any tips on player instructions for manchester united, my strikers aren't scoring goals frequently, for example berbatov hasnt scored in over 30 hours of football and tevez hasnt scored in 10+ hours, also i am conceding more goals than i am scoring

surely this is when u have to realize that u need to just learn more about the game that is called football.

Learn yourself, that is how u become good at things. Dont always rely on people helping you out.

If i help you with your man united team, then u will most probably never loose.

am havin the same prob wit united, don't listen to dat da guy, goal scoring is fine wit oda team but 4 some reason my strikers can score goals, ronaldo is scoring all my goals nd my top of the table yay, bebatov only scored 5 goals 1n 17 games 4 me, tevez nd rooney has only scored about 5, mabe its a bug, not sure.

Well, Ronaldo has been, and currently is, their top scorer, so why not..? If you are winning the games and scoring a lot of goals I am not sure you should complain about who's scoring the goals..

Have anyone tried and had success with playing totally without wide players? Like GK - 3DC - DM - 3MC - AMC - 2ST ? I am just curious. I haven't made it work good yet, but curious if someone else has.

Besides that I am looking for a good tactic with three defenders and no full or wing backs. I have tried 3DC DM MR ML 2MC 2ST, but somehow I really can't get the results I'm after, even though I am playing Liverpool.

Oh, and besides that, they have totally nerfed the Liverpool-team. They hardly have players with more than 170 potential now, many of their first XI have a current ability at 150 and potential max at <160. Is it probable that they would keep up with Chelsea with such a poor squad..? (Just had to vent out some frustration...)

i signed vucinic for 19mil amauri from juve for 22mil along with van nistelrooy, raul and saviola. There ratings are always in the low 6s.

Its because they havent gel'ed with there new teamates and/or your tactics. Give them time.

Maybe! just think its a bit strange that its only my strikers with the poor ratings.

my strikers are now scoring goals, i made a few adjusments to my tactics, but they just need time to gel, i am only averaging 1.7 goals scored per game,but averaging 0.6 goals conceded per game, and i am well and truly in the title race

So im managing Man city atm and most of my players have lost confidence in me. Why?!! We're currently 5th in the premier division, qtr final for league cup, 3rd round FA cup and we've qualifed for the knockout round in Euro cup. All my strikers are in the 6.80-6.90 rating range while the rest of my team is 7+.

Wtf is going on. Another thing is i CANNOT stop players from crossing or long passing to Robinho (heading 7) even though i have another player as my Target man. Is this just because robinho is that good a player that hes getting into good positions. But he is beaten in the air everytime. So annoying.

i had best formations to suggest u guys

i use 4-4-2 with two defensive mid and two attackiing winger
use short pass and low tempo
width not too wide and deep defensive line

try it thou
coz i've beat arsenal 3-0, chelsea 2-0 and liverpool 4-0
and yes, we're the champions

hi, i have been trying to get information on preferred moves for FM09. I played the demo and after 10 games of observing what was going on tried to assign some PPM to several players. My DC reacted badly when I asked him not to "dive into tackles".
Also, if someone could explain what is "killer balls often"? Who would be good to give that?
Move into channels also confused me when I gave it to a midfielder that sometimes gets put as a winger- he didnt like it.
Next, my striker hated that i asked him to shoot for the corners. He spent the first 10 games hitting it right at the keeper.
Are there any good ones for a Wingback, besides get forward often?

Dont abuse the PPM.
Think like u do in real life. If you say to your defender to not dive into a tackle, what is he supposed to do then? just stand there?

it doesnt work that way. So dont use that function if you dont have to.

If you have a player that is getting booked because he is always arguing with the referee. Then u might use the PPM function and tell him to stop arguing with the ref. And that might help.

Other than that dont try to touch that too much.

And that function is usually just for youngsters, because players that are grown up wont change much.

if you want to change the outcome of how ur team plays on the pitch, alter the tactics/personal instructions. Thats how u are going to get the most out of ur team.

dont use a target man when u have a good team and especially when u can play attacking football. FOr an example if ur playing with a lower league team and u are up against a big team, then u will play defensively. And then its the best to have a target man.

and u have to see that there are different types of target men. If you have a striker like Carew. Then u might want to give him less freedom and put the balls to his head. In that case he will come slightly deeper down and flick it on for a fast striker.

If u have a target man like berbatov u might want to play it to his feet. because he has great first touch and great passing. And in that case he will be able to create more to the other striker.

Then u can have 2 fast strikers and play run onto the ball.
