there's a ukrainian called nesmanschi or somethin like that who was good enough in fm09 and is dirt cheap... also darijo srna is amazing. almost as good as sergio ramos and is very very versatile. EXTREMELY RECCOMENDED THAT YOU CHECK HIM OUT! :D

cheers guys. all those fullbacks are mostly competent in an attacking sense. in other words, they cross and dribble better compared to their tackling, marking an concentration. is it better to have fullbacks which provide support on the flanks or help in defense? i'm currently using a 4-2-3-1 formation with 1 central midfielder who attacks (ever banega) and the other central midfielder who defends (ignacio camacho).
thanks for the input again all

As I remember from my last game on FM 2009 (as I haven't yet started playing FM 2010), there are two amazing left backs.

Jeremy Helan - The french starlet currently playing for Man City. In my FM 2009 game he became the best left back in the world after 3-4 seasons.

Thimothée Kolodzieczak - Highly rated teenage left-back currently playing for Lyon. In my FM 2009 game, he was developing almost as much as Helan, providing a great rotation solution.

Mark: by the time I visit you, you'll be like ancient =P
Stam: if things go well, I'll still be the same old crazy Stam
Mark: as in crazy inventive energetic or as in crazy senile and forgetful?
Stam: wtf mate, are you planning to visit me when you'll be 70? lol

As Raligt said Diego Renan is awesome for DL.
I am playing with Panathinaikos AO at the moment and have Diego as Dl and Ronald Riascos as DR. I highly reccomend you both of them :)

Joao Paulo, Fluminese, SP?. Young, talented, brilliant left foot. Paul Caddis. Not as good as last Fm but still fast and deadly if played right. Shea, left back, quick and can beat anyone.

hi everyone..
you should definitely sign Peter Masilela from M.Haifa..his position is D/WB L..he is really cheap and he has a good form for all appearances.

Depending on your club, he is hard to get because of work permit problems. But I agree, I wanted him for Liverpool at £120k, so cheap and pretty decent.
