Beggars can't be choosers!

A couple of things jump out for me from this note in my inbox:

If I made a profit of 689K [I round up, the AI obviously uses Swedish rounding], and my season ticket sales (which are a one off) are 767K, am I starring down the barrel of dirty great losses down the track? All my "big" spending in the transfer market was accounted for in July....

And if "tax" is my biggest expense, is that necessarily a good thing?



EDIT: Ntshingila was an aging (he was 32 - it's old for a footballer!) left back that had a spat with me and left on a fee transfer in May '14. He is now with Batau Killers FC, worth 1K and earning GBP475 per week.

Does it ever end?? While the transfer window is now shut until January, it hasn't stopped Ajax CT expressing interest in not one, but both of my left backs. Supersport are also now interested in Masabo, so having Ngobese there gives me a level of comfort.

I've done some investigation regarding games in the PSL vs the NFD, and they both have thirty, where we all play each other twice. So I have absolutely no idea why there is a three games per month in the PSL, versus 4 games a month in the NFD.

Slightly longer schedule perhaps?

I usually stick to the English leagues but I love a good read of peoples stories who venture out into other countries. I was thinking of doing something similar now and trying new leagues in foreign countries but I think I will save that for Football Manager 2013 now and stick with the story I have got. I normally try at least one story going from the bottom to the top....I pegged my experience too high and got Derby in my other story, ended up getting the boot because the finances were crap and I had a wee bit of a player revolt on my hands....so I graciously got in a hump and swore off England for ten years, landed in Spain though.

Thought this would be more representative of a "Sunday League Footballer", and I am quite enjoying it at the moment, except for crazy transfer windows. I can see myself being here for another two years max, depending what I achieve this term, although I am not competing in the Super Eight competition, so that may keep me around for an extra year.

Why they no risten??

If you look at the squads of some of the bigger African teams (except Egypt), how many locally based players are there? The likes of Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Ghana amongst others all have a similar squad composition to that of SA in my saves.

I wouldn't get my hopes up over a better scouting range. I know guys who won the SA league and the ACL multiple times without their boards ever letting them scout outside the continent.

I'd plum for Young Boys, purely because their annual fee is twice what Karpaty or Levski would pay, circa 43K.

It seems silly, although I can appreciate that that is how the game logic may work, that if you know of some decent South African players playing overseas, why would you not scout them? Suppose it is an added incentive for managers to move around if there they have moved as far as they can within one competition.

I was wondering whether Africa was all I get with this club, given it has been more than six months since the last time I raised it with the Board (or does it just feel like it) and they still claim "insufficient time has passed", so I may just need to accept it, as you say and move forward. I'd have to say I'd be disappointed if that were the case though!

I did some investigation here and someone said that Levski is the bigger club, so I'd accepted their offering thinking that the higher reputation parent may lead to more prestige for the feeder. I'm not sure whether the annual fee is worth the first rights sale to the parent though, for a one off payment of twenty odd thousand a year, if I get a superstar in my academy - I won't, but if I did - Levski could buy them. I'll run it for a year and see whether I get any discernible benefit.

I understand your frustrations with the the scouting range.
The best you can hope for is that a good league performance would twist your board's arm.

One feature I would like to see in the game is that the managers nation should automatically be added to the scouting range of the club.
For example, if you are a Serbian manager in SA, you should be allowed to scout Serbia at least.
Not a perfect solution though as it wouldn't help if the manager was from an African nation.

When I managed in SA, I normally chose the parent club that offered the most money.
Mainly because I wouldn't except a mid level European club to loan me players.

Hypothetically speaking, if one of the other SA teams make you an offer, would you move?
Or is the next move going to be out of SA?

It may have something to do with reputation of the club too, it is reasonable to expect, say someone from Russia, to want to join you purely because you can scout them. It may be counter productive, as it would cost more to send the scouts there, you may not be able to sign them, and you would be frustrated simply because you may see more classy players, that you can't sign!!

By making myself a Serb/Scotsman, the idea was to make it harder for myself, I have knowledge of those areas, but I am not seeing any intel come through. Also doesn't help that I didn't load the Scottish leagues up. One thing I did notice though, I am getting a strange mix; Serbian South Africans in my academy, that has to be related to the managers "nationality".

I'm not sure how much help the parent club is going to be, I certainly haven't seen any notes pop up as a result of the link, and I wouldn't have thought my rep would move markedly this early in a season. I've only had parent clubs in the country I am playing in, so this "foreign" parent is a new thought for me.

I'll stay with Dynamos for another two years, I want a crack at the Super8s, but if I was going to accept another job in SA, it would be for one of the clubs promoted into the NFD, although it may be exciting to see whether Dynamos could become a self sufficient club, I have no idea how long that may take though, given my facilities are average and basic and there is no way the Board want to discuss that either!

My Ass Man is pleased with progress from goalkeeper Masabo, and left back Radebe.

And my midfielder Gcaba has left my favourite agent, Coetsee.

Mumble, mumble, mumble. Some days you are the statue, and others you are the pigeon.

Today, when the South African KnockOut Cup First Round was drawn, Dynamos just would happen to get drawn against Orlando Pirates.... who are AT HOME!!

I realise that you need to beat everyone to win the Cup, but it would have still been nice to get a little further into the comp before getting such wondrous news.

Aside from the financial aspect, my reasoning for playing the friendlies also gave me a chance to refine my team talks, which have not been bad, but more often than not have not yielded the motivational responses I wanted.

I've also registered my youth players in my "main" squad, although I don't see them getting much game time - except for the utility Mhlongo, so I need a mechanism to give them game time and track development.

Brilliant story so far, it has definately caught my attention. Have you seen my End of Season Surprise Part 1 yet?
