FM 2020 Fantasy Scenarios - The Legends Of The Beautiful Games - Updated V.06
This database conclude the set of the best ever in the entire history of the beautiful game. With this extra data-set the most legendary players and managers from football history will appear in your Football Manager game.

This version contains 700 legendary players and 35 legendary managers. There are 1000 players and 50 managers on my to do list from pre-war players to recent superstar. I will update regularly every new 100 players + 5 managers created.

This database of players is created for FM 2020 but should work also in previous (and future) versions of Football Manager (2006 - 2020).

ABOUT THIS DATABASE:

This legendary database is my long-term project that began in late 2018 as I read dozens of articles and watched hundreds of hours from every players footage, thanks to footballia.net. There are five criteria that implemented to compile all the best players, specified as follows:
1. Attributes/skills of players in their peak performances,
2. Individual achievements of players,
3. Performances and participation of players in club competitions,
4. Performances and participation of players in national team competitions,
5. The longevity and consistency of players in playing in high level competitions.
The results of the calculations will be categorized in nine positions, specified as follows:
1. Goalkeeper
2. Centre Back/Libero/Sweeper
3. Full Back/Wing Back/Half Back
4. Defensive Midfielder/Holding Midfielder/Box to Box Midfielder
5. Central Midfielder/Deep Lying Playmaker/Advanced Playmaker
6. Advanced Midfielder/Trequartista
7. Side Midfielder/Winger
8. Inside Forward/Shadows Striker/False Nine
9. Target Striker/Poacher
The best players in each positional category will be picked with good proportion from each era/decades to get into this FM 2020 custom database (1000 players).

DATABASE MAIN FEATURES:

Details Information
All players born in the same decade will have the same birth year. Every difference of a decade means a difference of one year.
Here's the logic:
Players who were born in 1940s will start the game at the age of 22. (e.g Pelé and Cruyff)
Players who were born in 1950s will start the game at the age of 21. (e.g Zico and Platini)
Players who were born in 1960s will start the game at the age of 20. (e.g Maradona and van Basten)
Players who were born in 1970s will start the game at the age of 19. (e.g Ronaldo and Zidane)
Players who were born in 1980s will start the game at the age of 18. (e.g Messi and CR7)
This database contains even players who were born in 1880s.

Contract and International Data
There is no Maradona at Napoli or van Basten at AC Milan, where the legends play in their famous playing club. All players will play at their real playing club history based on their age when the game started. So, Maradona will play at Argentinos Jrs and van Basten at Ajax, because they were there at the age of 20; Ronaldo will play at PSV and Zidane will play at AS Cannes, because they were there at the age of 19.
Because most of us tend not to load the game into lower leagues, some players that play in there will have a set a future transfer to their next club with random transfer fee. (e.g Zidane will join Bordeaux in 2020)
This applies also to legendary managers. (e.g Alex Ferguson will manage Aberdeen in his final season at the age of 45)
Furthermore, all players will have internatinal data included. (e.g Pelé has 32 int. apps and 33 goals at the age of 22, maradona has 20 int. apps and 8 goals at the age of 20)

Career Plans and Playing/Non Playing History
Most players and managers have a set career plans to play/manage their next club. All of them have a set playing/non playing history. This is very important to the club dynamics because make them more influential players.
In addition, players who play abroad will have an additional languages that are used in their based nation.

DATABASE MINOR FEATURES:

Major club and competition reputation adjustments.
Major club finances adjustments.
Nation transfers and weekly wage values adjustments. (Pelé transfer values will be around €100M rather than €25M because playing in Brazilian League)
Continental competition registered teams adjustments. (Man. Utd, AC Milan, etc will be back in UCL)

@Rekoshooter You can still play this database using 20.1.0. But, you have to rename the facepack to match with ID in the game and create new config file.

Once again thank you for your further explanations. They definitely help me see the reason why you made certain changes and again I would like to commend your work as it is very detailed and assure you i mean no disrespect.

Honestly, if you could look into squad depth especially for the major leagues that would make this DB much more attractive as a plug and play for instance.

Thank you though even though you have no files, i have begun editing your DB to suit my requirements such as removing the bulk of players I do not know about / removing club rep etc changes and it seems fine even though I am aware it could take some time for the game to adjust itself especially as a club like St Helens Town cannot keep hold of a player on 125k per week :D but there is no perfect DB so i can only thank you for the hundreds of players/staff you created that I do want :) it should keep me busy :D

    Okay, Mate.

    Here's my further explanation.

I did research for this DB for almost two years. My goal is to introduce some of the players I have discovered to people who are still unfamiliar with. If I only create known players, I think that's not how knowledge works.

Once again, the reputation financial changes solely to make the game more balance. Picture this: many players have good ambitions rating, sooner or later they will tell their managers that they want to go to a better club or a better league. Or, if they have a good loyalty or professionalism rating, they will tell their managers to strengthen the squad. Many mediocre club managers with bad reputation and poor finances will struggle to keep their players happy if their wishes are not granted. Meanwhile, club tycoon managers will be excited there are so many unhappy players in the market. Frankly, this is not challenging at all.

The large squad and the squad depth issue is really my concern, and i have looked into it. So I decided to edited most of current players to make them younger. So far, there are about 50 players that I already have edited. I'll double check and count every major club squad before the final update.

Lastly, I will not put the players to their famous playing club. Why should I do that if there are so many custom database that already use that methods. I would say that the main features on my database is their details like International Apps/Goals and Playing History. This will works if only the players play at their real playing club history based on their age when the game started. If I put Diego Maradona at Napoli at the age of 20 (his ninth season of his career), it means he started his career at the age of 11? And how many International Apps/Goals that I have to set on him? 20 apps/8 goals when he was 20 years old or 32 apps/11 goals when he was at Napoli?

I don't have any copy of my database, unfortunately you have to delete the players you don't want to all by yourself.

Hope you understand with my explanation.

    Cheers.

    Hi mate,

Thank you for your answers, truly apprecaited.

Once again I would like to commend your work as I understand how much work / time custom DB's consume and this database for anyone who is wondering is far beyond enough to keep you busy. The knowledge / depth is certainly beyond my knowledge of football so kudos on the research invested. Also the facepacks work really nice and this makes the DB feel much more complete.

The only drawbacks I have with this DB are (and this is only my opinion based on what i want as a FM player):

    - The DB has a lot of players from era's that are unfamiliar to the common man. I do appreciate there are players though who will love the DB for this reason but for me, players in the 1910's & 1920s are very unfamiliar. It would be great if the DB was focused from the 1940's onward but again thats just my opinion.

    - The DB changes to club/comp rep / wages / ticket sales etc will create a 'unknown economic environment'. I have noticed due to many brazillian teams etc having world class talent they also have balances / wage budgets to match so I am unsure how this will affect future signings. Santos for example have a balance of 137m and budget of 68m compared to Man U having 159m and 79m respectively. I appreciate there is certainly no perfect way to adjust these figures in a DB such as this and I respect it had to be changed some way or another.

    - I have noticed certain teams are severley lacking in players compared to other teams having deep squads. Example, Man City have what I would consider 23 first team players (lowest rated - sancho @ 16 years old - CA 125 PA 180) with a balance of 142m and 71m budget. Yet Man U have 32 players (lowest rated - Greenwood @ 17 years old - CA 125 - PA -9) and 17m more in balance and 8m more in budget. This is one example but I am sure there are man more but again, how can that actually be fixed.. I certainly do not know.

Finally and this may relate to my last point.. I am unsure of the ratio that players have been added/removed. For example, if De Gea is moved to A Madrid, Man U lose their GK. If you do this method time and time again, you surely will cause an issue with squad depth/ability for some teams that even with 200m will struggle to maintain competitiveness.

Personally and this is objective, I think a DB like this would be much better if the idea was flipped and every player was at the club they performed/succeeded best at. This would in my opinion help the common player to understand who plays for who as for example Ronaldo (Brazil) in this DB will play for PSV but he begun his career at Cruzeiro. Yet I know 100% he played for R Madrid!! :D this change would cease the confusion as not all players are at the clubs they begun at and not everyone knows who signed for Red Star in the 40s or something mad like that :D now I know there is a shortlist but this in my opinion is the death of my enjoyment haha!

I would once again like to remind anyone reading this that I am in no way dissapointed with this DB. Its incredible. But as every FM player will know, its always a search for the best DB to play with haha!

@alafgani - would it be possible to gain a copy of this DB with all the players unassigned with no other db changes? my idea is to remove all the players i have no awareness of from really old era's and then take that pool of remaining players and assign them myself to the teams i remember them playing for so I can create my own world. I would really appreciate this or any other method you may be able to share as I would like to use your work with the facepacks etc

Thank you again and I hope you stay safe!

Hi, Mate. Thank you for your concern.

    Here's my explanation

    1. Reputation
I changed club/league reputation based on their reputation historically but still consider their current reputation with 70:30 proportion. Why? Because I don't want to drastically ruin the database by turning Manchester City or PSG into a mediocre team. There are a calculation for that, not just a random number. If you notice, the number of club reputation is now a multiple of 10, instead of 50 (default database).

    2. Club Finances
I also changed club finances (Balance, Transfer Budget, Average Match Ticket Price, Average Season Ticket Price, Number of Season Ticket Holders) based on club reputation to make the database more balance. English club nowadays are too far ahead in financial matters. So I made an adjustment. Again, there are a calculation for that:
    Balance= club reputation*20000
    Transfer Budget= balance/2
Average Match Ticket Price= club reputation/200

If I don't make those 2 changes, clubs with bad reputation, poor finances and lower income will struggle to keep their best players and all players will go to a better club/league reputation with strong finances, like Manchester City or PSG.

    3. Player's Current Ability
It is not possible for me to set all players current ability based on the player's age when the game started. Did you have Michel Platini footage when he was 21 years old? or Ricardo Zamora when he was 26 years old? All I can do is set their Potential Ability (all the footage on internet will show that, right?) and make an adjustment for their Current Ability and Reputation. Here's my methodology:
Players starting the game at 27 and 28 years old will have their Current Ability exactly the same as their Potential Ability. Players starting the game at 26 years old will have their Current Ability reduced by 5 points from their Potential Ability. Players starting the game at 25 years old will have their Current Ability reduced by 10 points from their Potential Ability. And so on..
Both Cristiano Ronaldo and and Wayne Rooney Current Ability will be reduced by 45 points.
I can't lowering their ages further, because the younger players on this db (Kylian Mbappé) is already at 16.

Hope you satisfied with my explanation, Mate.

    Cheers.

@alafgani may I ask why the DB includes changes such as:

Club Rep: Juve 3rd most reputable, more than AC Milan, Liverpool, Man U.

Season Ticket Sales Reduced - Example: Man U sell only 22k rather than 52k. Other teams also have lower sales but I primarily play as MUFC so would not know the loss for other clubs. Why has this been changed?

League Reputation: IMO, English and Italian first divisions historically the best leagues yet the spanish still tops the rep table. Is this change made to replicate modern day football or the old times?

I am just wondering what the thoughts behind these decisions where and wether or not they have a true impact of the game. For example, if i revert all club/competition changes such as rep/wages etc back to default but leave players at the teams/contracts etc will it have a negative effect on the game?

Finally, thank you for this work. I do not mean to be rude, I am just really interested in this kind of DB and like to edit DB's myself too. You definitley did a lot of work here and for that I am thanful but I want to make sure these changes are made for a reason if you get me. I am worried too that the clubs have had some financials scaled back yet the market is flooded with legends worth 50m+ between 17-25 years old. I believe this can be resolved by lowering ages further (example - CR7 is 18, reduce this group to 16) - this will make them less valuable, dont expect 1st team football, enabling enjoyment with older legends in their peaks. I also think some of the CA's are not representative of the player at that age. Rooney v CR7 is a great example. Both 18 in the DB yet CR7 has a CA of 153 yet Rooney's is 137? As a Man U fan I can say that would not be accurate. Rooney was a teenage wonderboy at 18 for Man U / England whereas CR7 was just finding his feet. One statistic to show this is, in 2004/05 Rooney played 43, scored 17 in all comps compared to CR7's 50 apps/9 goals. Ronaldo was not the machine he is now known to be. But thats where PA comes in because we all know Rooney declined later on whereas CR7 gets better with age.

Once again thank you for this DB and I mean no offense :D
