FM 2018 Fantasy Scenarios - FM 2018 Competitions of Old: UEFA Revival 1.5
Hi all! Back for another season with my UEFA Revival project, with quite a list of updates from where I left off in Football Manager 2017.

INTRODUCTION

This is a project that I've been plugging away at, on and off, dating back to Football Manager 2013. It originally started out as a throwback to the 1999-2003 format of the UEFA Champions League which contained 2 group stages, and has since progressed into a full structure where I've managed to find room to bring back the UEFA Intertoto Cup & the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. New from the 6 options available last year, there are now 25 separate UEFA files so you can choose whether you'd like to use the UEFA Europa League, revert back to the UEFA Cup, reinstate the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, play a knockout-only version of the tournaments, or choose between 1 or 2 group stages in the UEFA Champions League. Plenty of choice for all.

Additionally, the AFC Champions League has been added as a separate option, and uses the same 2 group stage format as the UEFA Champions League. The AFC Cup also mirrors the UEFA Cup format of 5 teams playing 1 round of matches in the group stage.

**UPDATES**

13/05/2018

- Quick update to one file. Fixed a fate error which prevented the Champions League scheduling in the 2018/19 season
*UEFA Revival - Winners Recalled - Champions League & Europa League (1 Group)*

22/04/2018

- New files galore! 8 new files added to the project
- 2 files are a retro version of the UEFA Champions League (featuring domestic league champions only). 1 is a straight knockout format from the last 32, while the other contains a group stage for the final 8 teams (2 group winners face off in final)
NOTE: These 2 files contain qualifying rounds, one of which consists of a group stage, in order to accommodate all 54 nations in the competition rather than just the top 32 nations
- Additionally there are 6 new files which now allow for competition winners to automatically qualify for the Champions League & UEFA Cup/Europa League in the following season
NOTE: Champions League winners and UEFA Cup/Europa League winners qualify for the Champions League (differing stages), while the Cup Winners' Cup winner qualifies for the UEFA Cup/Europa League
- Amended the disciplinary rules for all files. Yellow card suspensions now occur after 5 bookings (and every 2 thereafter), as opposed to 2/3/4
- Corrected a fate error with the final 16 of the AFC Cup

04/01/2018

- Fixed a fate error in the Third Qualifying Round of the UEFA Champions League
*UEFA Cup & Champions League (Knockouts & Dropouts)*
- Added 7 new UEFA files to the project with a tweaked UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. The new CWC format features 2 qualifying rounds throughout July/August, in order to accommodate nations 33-54

11/12/2017

- Added a new format option to the project, which contains a knockout-only tournament for both the UEFA Cup & UEFA Champions League
NOTE: This still includes seeded rounds, teams dropping in to the UEFA Cup, and also includes the Intertoto Cup winner getting a UEFA Cup place
- Fixed the issue 100% where the UEFA Champions League won't progress any further than the Group Stage
*Europa League (1 Group Stage) & Champions League (1 Group Stage)*

07/12/2017

- Fixed the Team conditions so stage 4 of the UEFA Champions League will now grab the winners/runners-up of the Group Stage for the Round of 16
*Europa League (1 Group Stage) & Champions League (1 Group Stage)*
*Europa League (2 Group Stages) & Champions League (1 Group Stage)*

18/11/2017

- Added Kosovo to the UEFA rankings, taking the total up to 54 nations
- Added 3 new files, which allow for a 1 Group Stage version of the UEFA Champions League (These all contain the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup)
- Adjusted the UEFA Intertoto Cup fixture dates to avoid international matches in mid-June
- Adjusted UEFA Champions League fixture dates to avoid international matches in mid-November and late March
- Adjusted UEFA Europa League fixture dates to avoid international matches in mid-November and late March
- Adjusted UEFA Cup fixture dates to avoid international matches in mid-November and late March
- Adjusted UEFA Cup Winners' Cup fixture dates to avoid international matches in mid-November and late March
- Adjusted AFC Champions League fixture dates to avoid international matches in mid-November and late March
- Adjusted AFC Cup fixture dates to avoid international matches in mid-November and late March

UEFA / AFC SUPER CUP

- This remains unchanged

**NOTES**

- If you are starting a new game and controlling a team that is competing in the UEFA Intertoto Cup, you will have to add France as a playable nation, as it allows you to start the game at June 12th.

- The nation rankings are slightly customized to allocate qualification spots, so a couple of teams have been moved up/down in the rankings for personal preference. You can always change the order in your editor ahead of starting a new game if you wish.

- *AVOID* activating Northern Ireland as a playable nation, unless you have a custom league structure for it. Their domestic playoffs have an issue when calling the correct teams and their season doesn't finish. As a result, no teams qualify for the UEFA competitions when the nation is activated and playable.

- If your game is displaying the default names for the competitions (i.e. Champions Cup or EURO VASE etc), try downloading the 'FM18 Real Names License Fix'.

It’s ok I sorted it now I don’t remember what I had and hadn’t done lol by the way just had the draw for the qualifying stage of champions league and two English clubs are in it shouldn’t the 3rd place team get in automatically or is this because I chose the 54 nation one cheers looking good so far cheers
  • Carlito_85's avatar
@unitedarestillthebest: Might be a silly question but did you extract the contents of the rar file? There's an instructions file in there saying where everything that comes with the download needs to go.
  • unitedarestillthebest's avatar
Carlito I’m having a few problems with it I downloaded the file and put it into the editor data folder but it’s not available to download also it’s a rar file but all the others are fmf files plus do I need to put the same file in the pictures logos etc
  • unitedarestillthebest's avatar
Cheers carlto I’m off work all week so will download it later when I get home
  • Carlito_85's avatar
@unitedarestillthebest: Yeah, if Man Utd are being drawn into the Europa League/UEFA Cup then it's just a case of loading the file and swapping their previous league position with Liverpool's in the editor. Man Utd will still be in the Super Cup as changing their league position won't impact their Europa League win.

As for which file you need to run with for the format you want, it would be
UEFA Revival - UEFA Cup & Cup Winners' Cup

NOTE: There are 2 versions. One with a 32-nation Cup Winners' Cup, and one with a 54-nation Cup Winners' Cup. They are in separate folders.

I just seen I have to have one or the other so which file would I have please for champions league two group stages the UEFA cup the Intertoto cup and cup winners cup plus I saw Manchester United are in the second class tournament by some is this still the case cause if so I will be changing there’s and Liverpool’s league positions using the editor. But I just realised if I did that would united still face Madrid in the super cup sorry for the questions I been looking for a decent datebase and this sounds perfect thanks.
  • unitedarestillthebest's avatar
Hi can you have all the competitions in one season or does say the UEFA cup have to replace the Europa league and can you have the intertoto cup and cup winners cup please
  • Carlito_85's avatar
In the mean time for anyone wanting to fix this problem on your own, load up the file in the editor and set the following for the AFC Cup Stage 5-5 (Cup) fate action that is already there in place:

    Round Name: Round Of 16
  • Carlito_85's avatar
@simarghangas: Thanks for the heads up. Just ran a test now and after looking through the rules, it appears I've overlooked the fate for the last 16 going into the Quarter Finals.

I'll get that fixed for my next update.

Hi Carlito_85, this is great work and I love the database. However, I am facing a huge issue with the AFC stuff - the AFC Cup gets stuck in the Round of 16 in the first season and does not move to the QFs. The game continues as normal, ACL finishes smoothly but the AFC Cup is stuck in the first season at Round of 16. I have a couple of screenshots I can share if you need.
  • Carlito_85's avatar
Hi dopelemon. Thanks for the feedback.

Right now there isn't a version with the current qualifying system as it was designed to be more of a throwback with a few custom variations added in there.

The closest option to the current format would be the UEFA Revival - Europa League (1 group stage) & Champions League (1 group stage)

I'll try and configure the modern qualifying system for a new file in the next update.
  • dopelemon's avatar
I love this database but I have one issue, you provided a lot of different variations of this file, but all Im looking for is one which adds the Intertoto and Cup Winner's Cup but doesn't mess at all with the UCL and Europa, leaving that intact as it in in real life. If there is one included which one is it? Because the one I'm using has messed up draws, and qualifying structures which do not reflect the real life states of the UCL. For example City going through playoffs when they should be directly in the group stages, and Knockout draws happening in a week before the ties start.
  • Carlito_85's avatar
@Herrera: I added a straight knockout version in the most recent update, though I included the same amount of teams due to there being 54 nations.

I'll see what I can do regarding a champions only version for a future update.
  • Herrera's avatar
Is there also a possibility to remake the old Champions Cup? Only the Champions of the Nations and straight Knockout Round
    Uefa/Messe Pokal the same?
    cheers
  • phil2801's avatar
    Nice one, appreciate it
  • Carlito_85's avatar
@phil2801: Encountered the problem the day after the 2nd leg. I'll see if I can get that fixed for you.
  • phil2801's avatar
Ok cheers, it's the 54 nation one
  • Carlito_85's avatar
I'll give it a test run tonight and see what I can do.

Are you using the 32 nation file or the 54 nation one?
  • phil2801's avatar
    Only running that one file
  • Carlito_85's avatar
@phil2801: Are you running any other editor files with it? There may be a clash going on there.
  • phil2801's avatar
Have picked the UEFA Cup/Cup Winners Cup file and playing as a team in the Intertoto Cup, but after finishing the first round second leg game of the Intertoto Cup, when I finish the full time team talk, the game closes, crash dump. Any idea how to fix this?
  • Carlito_85's avatar
    No problem. Enjoy :)
  • Orvalvisje's avatar
    @carlito_85
Thanks for the speedy reply. Indeed, a small fact that i have overlooked. I just started the game (end of august) and so it is the only the qualifications. Sorry about that :s
  • Carlito_85's avatar
@Orvalvisje: Are you using a file with 32 nations or a file with 54?

If you're using 32 nations, all the top nations are there from the first round in September.

If you're using a 54 nation file, there are 2 qualifying rounds that take place throughout the summer, with the top 28 nations joining in September.
  • Orvalvisje's avatar
hello, just wondering about the cup winners cup ... in my load in the first season there is no presence of big countries (france, england, spain, germany,...). Is this just a setup thing, and will normalize after the first season or is this done on purpose, in order to give smaller teams a chance to participate in Europe?
