Real Names Fix Instructions

How to fix fake competition and club names in FM 2019

  1. Quit the game (if it's open).

  2. Extract the contents of the pack you downloaded from here to a temporary location. You'll need them for step 6.

  3. Find the 1930 folder.
    Windows:
    \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2019\data\database\db\1930\
    Mac:
    /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 2019/database/data/db/1930/

  4. Open the lnc folder and then enter the all sub-folder.

  5. Delete the following 3 files:
    • fake.lnc
    • lic_dan_swe_fra.lnc
    • nleague.lnc

  6. Move Daniel-Stam FM19 Fix.lnc and Daniel-Stam FM19 Club Names.lnc inside this all folder.

  7. Go 2 folders back to find the edt folder.
Open it and then enter the permanent sub-folder.

  8. Delete the file "fake.edt".
This will fix Danny Blind from getting renamed to Jan Jansen.

  9. Again go 2 folders back, this time to find the dbc folder.
Open it and then enter the permanent sub-folder.

  10. Delete the following 3 files:
    • brazil_kits.dbc
    • forbidden names.dbc
    • Licensing2.dbc
This will prevent Brazilian clubs from reverting to 3-letter names and will allow certain kits to be visible again.

  11. Open the game and enjoy Football Manager 2019 with real names.

IMPORTANT: If your saved game was started before the 19.3.0 patch, you need to apply this fix to the 1910 folder as well! In similar fashion, if your saved game was started before the 19.1.0 patch, you need to apply this fix to the 1901 folder too!

For reference, the folder structure of the path you need to apply the fix is as follows:
  • 1930
    • 1930_fm
    • dbc
      • permanent
        • brazil_kits.dbc
        • forbidden names.dbc
        • Licensing2.dbc
        • ...
      • temp league fixes
    • edt
      • permanent
        • fake.edt
        • ...
    • lnc
      • all
        • fake.lnc
        • lic_dan_swe_fra.lnc
        • nleague.lnc
        • ...
      • greek

Brazilian clubs have three-letter names in my game. How to fix?
Even though Brazilian club names are fixed in our files, the game will continue to show the 3-letter name instead of the full name. That is due to certain dbc files that affect them when you save your game for the first time. You need to start a new save AFTER applying this fix (in full), for Brazilian team names to be correct.

I applied the fix, but I'm still seeing some wrong club names.
During career game set up, you will still see incorrect names for three Spanish clubs, but once you select your club and start playing, the names will be correct.

Don't like a name? Change it!
Open the fix file in a text editor such as Notepad, search for the name you want to change, change it, and save. It's really that simple. The fix will apply the next time you start FM19.

Where is Application Support folder on Mac OS X
Mac users who have trouble locating their Application Support folder, please follow these steps:
  1. Open the "Go to Folder" menu
  2. Enter the path of the Application Support folder
  3. Copy the following path and paste it into the "Go to Folder" input field.
    ~/Library/Application Support
  4. Finally click "Go" to go to the folder.

Why there are so many stupid full names like
"Městský Fotbalový Klub Frýdek-Místek", instead of normal "MFK Frýdek-Místek"

there is no need to use the title "Football club..." in each club's name

I've just rolled out an update. I've reverted to the latest version by Daniel which I had personally edited and tried to go through as many names as possible. This version is no longer anglicized, but it needs further updating. Please let me know of any mistakes and I'll try my best to address them and repack this on a weekly basis if needed.

Hi there. I just started my very much game of FM19 by managing in Norway. There is no use of special Norwegian characters like Ææ/Øø/Åå so all clubs with these characters are wrong. I've also noticed Swedish and Danish clubs with special characters like ÆØÅÖ are wrong.Could you correct these please?

    Some examples:
    Denmark https://gyazo.com/dcefaee2cb56b9e074146944c14118c5
    Norway https://gyazo.com/45382b79135c2d8ba9a2e541bb99f66f
    Sweden https://gyazo.com/47523809edacc4c8a5cc97e2e0e6e068

All these are in the Carlos fm19 club names.lnc file

@Frognastie, a quote from the above article:
"During career game set up, you will still see incorrect names for three Spanish clubs, but once you select your club and start playing, the names will be correct."

@Justice - I started a new game, I have the German leagues sorted, but the Spanish League is unchanged?
  • Justice's avatar
@Frognastie, if you look at the image in the spoiler, you can see that the names are correct:

This is using the Real Name Fix. Please note that the correct names won't appear until you actually start the save.

Please accept my sincere apologies for failing to roll out the much-expected update today. I've been sidetracked by a negative situation that took up most of my time today. I should have the new version ready tomorrow at some point. Thanks to everyone who messaged me with their suggestions.

Thanks for the heads-up Stam. :)

I haven't updated the files yet. As stated in my previous comment, the update should be ready by Friday, November 2nd.

It would be very helpful if you guys could send me a private message with your exact suggestions and requests. Would definitely speed up the process for me.

@Fredje17: If you applied the fix to a saved game that was already started, you have to wait until the next international call-up. If you did it before starting a save, it should be fine already.

@mondeo333: Please check the exact folder path as outlined in my instructions on this page. Windows 10 search is really bad (I personally hate it as it doesn't really work as intended).

@mattrob77: If Proximus is a sponsor name, I'd rather not add it.

@haritzah: You need to start a new save for Brazilian club names to be fixed.
