Football Manager 2019 Data Updates - Football Manager 2019 Real Names Licence Fix
Welcome to Real Names License Fix for Football Manager 2019 by FM Scout.
You don't have to start a new save for this to work, except for Brazilian clubs.

This is an essential add-on for FM 2019. Due to licensing issues, FM19 contains fake names for a number of competitions, clubs and awards. With this add-on, you can fix that and enjoy FM 19 with real names.

FM19 Real Names Corrected

  • All playable clubs names from all continents
  • All major leagues names
  • All non-playable Europe Top Leagues club names
  • Almost all minor leagues names
  • All Continental, National and National Cups names

FM 2019 Name Fix Preview

If you find errors in translation / names or need a fix for other club / league / competition names, please post a comment below and I'll try my best to update these files.

Real Names Fix Instructions

How to fix fake competition and club names in FM 2019

  1. Quit the game (if it's open).

  2. Extract the contents of the pack you downloaded from here to a temporary location. You'll need them for step 6.

  3. Find the 1930 folder.
    \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2019\data\database\db\1930\
    /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 2019/database/data/db/1930/

  4. Open the lnc folder and then enter the all sub-folder.

  5. Delete the following 3 files:
    • fake.lnc
    • lic_dan_swe_fra.lnc
    • nleague.lnc

  6. Move Daniel-Stam FM19 Fix.lnc and Daniel-Stam FM19 Club Names.lnc inside this all folder.

  7. Go 2 folders back to find the edt folder.
Open it and then enter the permanent sub-folder.

  8. Delete the file "fake.edt".
This will fix Danny Blind from getting renamed to Jan Jansen.

  9. Again go 2 folders back, this time to find the dbc folder.
Open it and then enter the permanent sub-folder.

  10. Delete the following 3 files:
    • brazil_kits.dbc
    • forbidden names.dbc
    • Licensing2.dbc
This will prevent Brazilian clubs from reverting to 3-letter names and will allow certain kits to be visible again.

  11. Open the game and enjoy Football Manager 2019 with real names.

IMPORTANT: If your saved game was started before the 19.3.0 patch, you need to apply this fix to the 1910 folder as well! In similar fashion, if your saved game was started before the 19.1.0 patch, you need to apply this fix to the 1901 folder too!

For reference, the folder structure of the path you need to apply the fix is as follows:
  • 1930
    • 1930_fm
    • dbc
      • permanent
        • brazil_kits.dbc
        • forbidden names.dbc
        • Licensing2.dbc
        • ...
      • temp league fixes
    • edt
      • permanent
        • fake.edt
        • ...
    • lnc
      • all
        • fake.lnc
        • lic_dan_swe_fra.lnc
        • nleague.lnc
        • ...
      • greek

Brazilian clubs have three-letter names in my game. How to fix?
Even though Brazilian club names are fixed in our files, the game will continue to show the 3-letter name instead of the full name. That is due to certain dbc files that affect them when you save your game for the first time. You need to start a new save AFTER applying this fix (in full), for Brazilian team names to be correct.

I applied the fix, but I'm still seeing some wrong club names.
During career game set up, you will still see incorrect names for three Spanish clubs, but once you select your club and start playing, the names will be correct.

Don't like a name? Change it!
Open the fix file in a text editor such as Notepad, search for the name you want to change, change it, and save. It's really that simple. The fix will apply the next time you start FM19.

Where is Application Support folder on Mac OS X
Mac users who have trouble locating their Application Support folder, please follow these steps:
  1. Open the "Go to Folder" menu
  2. Enter the path of the Application Support folder
  3. Copy the following path and paste it into the "Go to Folder" input field.
    ~/Library/Application Support
  4. Finally click "Go" to go to the folder.

UEFA Nations League is still European League in-game.

    Hi Stam
My comment wasn't about the competition names being wrong but international competitions names missing (ex: Libertadores Cup, Africa Cup of Nations, and so on)

how can I give the German national team the real names? I have followed all the steps above, but no real names yet with this team? What am I doing wrong?

    Great job !

Would it be possible to change the second division in Belgium to his official name ? "Proximus League"

    Thanks !

Thank you for the files. It's a great job.
That being said, there 3 main flaws to this files:

    1. It edits lots of teams names that doesn't need to be edited (for instance, "Nacional" from Uruguay is known as that, "Nacional" not as "Club Nacional" as it's added into the files. Same goes for other teams from Argentina, such as "Colón" which was edited to "Colon Santa Fe" :(
This names are correct in FM. No need to edit them to wrong names.

    2. It also edits lots of competitions to wrong names. For instance, Uruguayan third level is edited to "Segunda Division Amateur", while its real name is "Segunda B Nacional".
This competitions naming are correct. There's no need to edit them.

    3. Lots of ortographic mistakes.
-Spanish names lacks accentuation and diacritics ("Primera Division" instead of "Primera División", for instance), particular letters ("Peñarol" was edited to "Penarol". Why? Same goes for other teams like Cerro Porteño)

Portuguese names also lacks diacritics and special letters, such as "ç" or its special diacritics ("Gremio" instead of "Grêmio", or "Sao Paulo" instead of "São Paulo").

Overall, I think it's a good job, but has its flaws (important to me).
I feel it could be the definitive renaming files if the ortogrpahic mistakes are fixed, and if club and competitions names are changed only were needed.

Can anyone help me, the brazilian club names still have three-letter names in my game.

Will this fix the german national team? also will it work in a current save or will have to make a new save?
  • AkselM's avatar

Will this still be OK when the full game comes out?
  • drjonze's avatar
I complained about the anglicized names and switched to a different name fix. Noe I'm managing in the Bundesliga and the full, German team names are driving me crazy. There like 5 words long. Like a sentence. I take it all back. I was wrong

I'll be doing the next update which should be ready by next Friday.
I assume anglicized text is not widely appreciated (e.g. Cologne instead of 1. FC Köln), so I'll make an effort to bring back "original" names where possible.
I've taken note of all comments so far, but let me know if there are any mistakes or certain stuff missing. Thanks!

P.S. Comments asking whether this is working or not, will be removed on sight.

@ilpomodore: Has nothing to do with real names fix.
@michaelandrews: Which competitions have wrong names?

jvhalbrooks, how did you find the file? I also can't find the steam folder in the application support folder. Can help?
  • jvhalbrooks's avatar
I'm a newbie, so apologies if I'm missing something obvious. I'm playing on a MacBook Pro, and I simply can't find the steam folder. It's not in application support. Is it possible that it is hidden somehow? I search the disk, and it doesn't come up. I also searched the disk for 1901, and it's not there. I'm in America, so could this possibly be a different configuration? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

UPDATE: I stupidly overlooked the footnote at the end of the entry above. Problem solved.

Have other people been getting this problem? Trying to figure out if the problem has to do with the game or the name fix.

Hi to all .I stalled the Real Names Licence Fix, and the leagues that had problems are ok.I started with FC KOLN ,and the name changed to Cologne. Is there a way to return back to FC Koln ?
  • LLovely's avatar
@BELLIDNEI think you misunderstood something. we were Talking About long names not full names. Take a look on how much better it Looks...
  • johnkrimi's avatar
I appreciate your job for doing this but an advice is to not change the names of the danish clubs. They are originally perfectly right.

I recently saw that you have changed the names as how you like them to be so fair play.
  • bellidne's avatar
Great effort. I cannot criticise this Fix. Does everything it intends to do. So easy to change any names/competitions that you want via notepad. Don't like something ? Change it. I have edited cup names and some clubs because that's how I like it. I don't want to see Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, commonly known as Real Madrid and I don't want to see Calcio after every Italian club. So if it says it I change it. Easy to do and takes seconds. Great effort Carlosfierro and keep up the good (free) work!
  • michaelandrews's avatar
    Hi and thank you,
These files used to have international competitions names also fixed, but I've only saw the national competitions. Will it be available in the next version ?

Sporting Lisbon doesn't exist. The abreviatted name that we use for our club is just Sporting, and we really hate when the foreign media use sporting lisbon on a broadcast. It is either Sporting or just use the full name.
