How to fix fake competition and club names in FM 2020
- Quit the game (if it's open).
- Extract the contents of the pack you downloaded from here to a temporary location. You'll need them for step 6.
- Find the 2040 folder.
Windows:
\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2020\data\database\db\2040\
Mac:
/Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 2020/database/data/db/2040/
- Open the lnc folder and then enter the all sub-folder.
- Delete all files you can find in there, particularly the following 3 files:
- fake.lnc
- lic_dan_swe_fra.lnc
- nleague.lnc
- Move FM20 Fix by FMScout.lnc and FM20 Club Names by FMScout.lnc inside this all folder.
- Go 2 folders back to find the edt folder.
Open it and then enter the permanent sub-folder. - Delete the file "fake.edt".
This will fix Niko Kovač from getting renamed to Max Freund, and Oliver Kahn from getting renamed to Jens Freund. - Again go 2 folders back, this time to find the dbc folder.
Delete the following 3 files:
- zebra award.dbc
- zebra turin fake staff.dbc
- zebra turin new.dbc
- Now enter the permanent sub-folder.
Delete the following 4 files:
- brazil_kits.dbc
- forbidden names.dbc
- Licensing2.dbc
- Licensing2_chn.dbc
- Open the game and enjoy Football Manager 2020 with real names.
For reference, the folder structure of the path you need to apply the fix is as follows:
- 2040
- 2040_fm
- dbc
- zebra award.dbc
- zebra turin fake staff.dbc
- zebra turin new.dbc
- ...
- permanent
- brazil_kits.dbc
- forbidden names.dbc
- Licensing2.dbc
- Licensing2_chn.dbc
- ...
- temp league fixes
- edt
- permanent
- fake.edt
- ...
- permanent
- lnc
- all
- fake.lnc
- lic_dan_swe_fra.lnc
- nleague.lnc
- ...
- all
I want to help with proper real names for my country.
We welcome everyone to suggest and contribute changes to this name fix. Feel free to send a PM to Stam or to pr0.Brazilian clubs have three-letter names and Juventus is called Zebre in my game. How to fix?
Even though Brazilian club names are fixed in our files, the game will continue to show the 3-letter name instead of the full name. That is due to certain dbc files that affect them when you save your game for the first time. The same applies to Juventus. You need to start a new save AFTER applying this fix (in full), for Brazilian team names to be correct.I applied the fix, but I'm still seeing some wrong club names.
During career game set up, you will still see incorrect names for three Spanish clubs, but once you select your club and start playing, the names will be correct.Where is Application Support folder on Mac OS X
Mac users who have trouble locating their Application Support folder, please follow these steps:- Open a Finder window
- Press CMD + Shift + G on your keyboard to open the “Go to folder” window
- Type: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Football Manager 20xx and press “Go” or hit enter
Don't agree with a name? You can change it.
If your opinion for a name change isn't widely accepted, it's advised to change the name yourself.Open the fix file in a text editor such as Notepad, search for the name you want to change, change it, and save. It's really that simple. The fix will apply the next time you start FM20.

Also, Juventus and Bayern stadium name are incorrect
Thanks !
Thank you
I just realized that since it's a training ground probably ''stadium_name_change'' isn't ok
"COMP_SHORT_NAME_CHANGE" 33 "Serie B" ""
"STADIUM_NAME_CHANGE" 43156138 "Campo Ale & Ricky" ""
"STADIUM_NAME_CHANGE" 43443589 "J-Village" ""
Is it possible to change colors of brazilian teams? Does this file go in conflict with this one? Because they have different colors set for the same competitions.
Example:
# Serie A (White, Blue)
"COMP_COLOUR_CHANGE" 32 0 255 255 255 0 132 209""
and
### Serie A (White, Blue)
"COMP_COLOUR_CHANGE" 32 0 255 255 255 15 121 204 ""
@scottsc84, if you check 4 comments down, Stam has already said that the new update created a new db folder named "2010". So, you should do the same things you already did for "2000" & "2001".
@Stam I noticed that in Germany the Coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach Marco Rose also has a fake name. Could you please add this for future releases.
Thanks in Advance
@Josildo: Of course you can expect further updates. Will try to prepare the next one over the weekend.
I just roughly went through it and noticed that a lot of the comments suggestions are outstanding - IE Scottish -> Ladbrokes, stadium names and such.
I know you're a busy man but can we expect another release in the future?
@jamarcus: Will fix that in the next update. It seems FM20 swapped the IDs for those 2 clubs.
"CHANGE_PLAYER_NAME" 7981826 "Maurizio" "" "Sarri"
In Romania, Steaua Bucuresti should remain FCSB short name and long name is Fotbal Club FCSB
Juventus stadium is Zebre Stadium, change it to Allianz Stadium.
Bayern Munchen stadium, change it to Allianz Arena.
Thank you, great job!
p.s good work
