any news on the champions league update?
  • anatidae's avatar
thanks for the files, just noticed one thing, royal thai air force fc in thailand is called 'royal thai air force 2' in the game, idk if that's just because you had to make the old club name extinct but thats the only issue i've seen running in asean so far

    @Srdmnt211
Yes, I saw that page, but it is still unclear and not final (it says so in the yellow boxes). It says 12 teams for east and west, but then 13 teams are listed. And there is a preliminary round - or not? And 8 matchdays, but who plays who?
These things need to be final before I can make that in FM Editor.

Cheers. I guess I'll try to run a save with only Vietnam loaded and sim a few seasons to check. Will try during the week
  • MasterIgor's avatar
@breakthegame: the V League is a 2 round league without championship/relegation. I understand you however because in 2023 season it is like this.
However, Vietnam has changed its season dates after that and we are now in the 2023-2024 season. That and future seasons run from october to july.
This, because it is the future and not a one time occurrence, is the format which I used for the vietnam rule file.
It can be that the game picks vietnam teams for continental cups already in june. I will investigate this. In any case it should be correct from the next season onwards.

    I'm back with Vietnam problems.
Does the league has a championship round and a relegation round? It doens't seem to happen when I look at the rules.
Also, the Cup seems too early (As an August tournament), date of start and end is 1900 and results appear for 2024/25 season already... Binh Duong plays Champions League but I don't think they should as they finished 12th last year. Would it be because of those dates? thanks
  • breakthegame's avatar
It's fine, I used the starting date of an other country

Hello. I start in Vietnam, early start is mid September but my team already played the first round of cup, and lost. I can't start a few weeks before.
    *Thanks

@Vakama2619: yes, in the first season there is no relegation from Super League but 1 team from I-League promotes. In all the following seasons there is 1 relegation and promotion between those leagues.
  • Vakama2619's avatar
Is there promotion and relegation between the indian super league and I league?

I made a small update to Indonesia and India (see Changelog).

    unfortunately I-League 3 won't be possible, because:
it serves as a platform for state champions (5th tier), so it would be different teams every season. On top of that, not all teams from the I-League 3 are in the Database. So it makes no sense to create I-League 3 without all State Leagues. For someone like me who wants to make rule files for every nation, this would cost me too much effort.

Thanks everyone for the feedback so far.

    1. Indonsesia foreigners rule is wrong
-> yes, I did not update the original. This is a small change to do.

    2. India youth league is not u-18 but u-21.
-> to explain, I did not implement real youth/reserve leagues because this would double my efforts. However, I can change u-18 to u-21 for the "unrealistic" youth league

    3. India does not have I-League 2 or 3
-> As I write this comment, these competitions have not started or finished. I will add them in a future update, but I don't know when exactly.

    4. AFC Continental Cups (2024 format)
-> I experimented a little and I can do it. However, at this moment the slots and format is not clear yet. I will add it in a future update when this is final.

I really appreciate it. it's perfect DB for me, it's just the foreign players rules in Indonesia that bother me. It should be 5+1 southeast Asian player. would really love if you can make it happen

India has RDFL as its u21 league, more details, I don't think there is any u18s league system: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Reliance_Foundation_Development_League

    thanks for your spot-on work!

To answer the questions about what is next, you can see it here:
    https://masterigorfm.000webhostapp.com/

for CONMEBOL, OFC and CONCACAF, I have rule files from FM23 which I need to convert and there are some format changes (especially NZL). But this is the plan. After that I will try to tackle CAF (Africa) and UEFA (Europe) but the latter 2 have to be created from scratch.
  • Srdmnt211's avatar
Apreciate your work MasterIgor. Last year I use your Oceania Leagues Pack (NZ) and it work very well and the format one and only like irl out there in FM23. I tried verified your last year file NZ to Fm24 editor it fail. Any news about OFC?
  • MasterIgor's avatar
@Raj Boruah: I actually started on an AFC Continental file to have 3 cups instead of 2 like it is in 2024. However I faced a problem which I couldn't overcome for now.
The problem is that the AFC continental cups have 2 lists with nations (West and East) to draw teams from. In the editor I have only 1 list, so I did not know how to work around it. But while typing I had an idea for a workaround so I will try. But if it doesn't work out, then I just can't do it. In Fm24 it is probably hard coded.

About the Chinese 2nd Division. You caught me there :-) I know that in real life there are 2 entries promoted from U21 league in 2024. However, I found it not so easy to implement in the editor, and so I just let 4 extra teams from the lower league promote in order to transition the league from 16 to 20 teams.
  • boscolam1234's avatar
    Vakama2619:
Another thing, with the Chinese file, I noticed that 2 of the teams promoted are the winners and runner ups of the Chinese U21 league. Not sure what will happen with this though in terms of teams competing in either 1 or both league and future U21 teams in China League 2

It is actually happening in real life
  • Raj Boruah's avatar
    ok, appreciate it MasterIgor.
    Is it possible?
    New AFC Champions league Format

On 23 December 2022, it was announced that the AFC competition structure would change from the established formats. Under the new plans, the top club competition of Asian football will only consist of 24 teams, divided into East and West regions (12 teams each), with each team playing eight other teams from their region (four teams at home and four teams away) in the brand-new league stage, which replaces the usual group stage. The top eight teams per region will advance to the knockout stage, where only the round of 16 will be played over two legs, and from the quarter-finals onward the matches will be held at a neutral venue. On 14 August 2023, it was confirmed that the new format would come into effect from the 2024–25 season onwards. In addition, the name of Asia's top-tier competition was changed to AFC Champions League Elite.

The second-tier men’s club competition will be named AFC Champions League 2 (ACL2), with the 32 clubs divided into eight groups of four teams each. The clubs will play home and away matches in a round-robin format in the group stage, with the top two sides advancing to the round of 16.

The round of 16, quarter-finals, and semi-finals will be two-leg ties, with the final as a single-leg tie.

The third-tier competition, meanwhile, will be known as the AFC Challenge League (ACGL), with the 20 competing clubs divided into five groups. The clubs will play single-leg ties in a centralized format with the top eight sides qualifying for the quarter-finals.

The quarter-finals and semi-finals will be played over two legs in a home-and-away format before the final.

The restructure will see an increase in matches from a minimum of 274 to 287, bringing in more revenue for the AFC and its member associations. The federation also announced an increase in funding to the 76 participating teams, with the top-tier ACLE winners to receive $12 million compared to the $4 million that will be awarded to this season’s Champions League champions.

The runners-up will receive $6 million – a $4 million increase on this season – while the AFC said the ACL2 and ACGL will also see a boost in prize money and benefits.
