As the FPL deadline draws near, here are some helpful tips on player selection.
With the likes of Petr Cech (£5.5m), Nathaniel Clyne (£5.5m), Eden Hazard (£11.5m) and Harry Kane (£9.5m) dominating FPL squad selections so far, there are plenty of other options worth considering to give you the edge this season.
Goalkeepers
Newly promoted Norwich keeper John Ruddy (£4.5m) looks like being an astute acquisition while West Ham shot-stopper Adrian (£5.0m) has some attractive home fixtures early in the season. Everton stalwart Tim Howard (£5.0m) has long been a FPL favourite and Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel (£4.5m) could also be worth consideration.
Defenders
After his impressive spell at Southampton last season, new Spurs signing Toby Alderweireld (£5.0m) will be aiming to hit the ground running at White Hart Lane. AFC Bournemouth’s marauding right-back Simon Francis (£4.5m) is likely to score points at both ends of the pitch, as is Everton’s dead ball specialist Leighton Baines (£6.5m) and Man Utd’s Darmian (£5.5m).
Midfielders
Southampton’s attack-minded Sadio Mane (£8.0m) offers great value as a midfielder while West Ham playmaker Dimitri Payet (£7.5m), who notched 17 assists for Marseille last season, will be hoping to continue that form in his debut BPL season. Other new signings to look out for are Man Utd’s Memphis Depay (£8.5m) and Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino (£8.5m).
Forwards
Christian Benteke’s (£8.5m) move to Anfield will be popular with FPL managers. The Liverpool striker recorded 42 goals and eight assists in his three seasons at Aston Villa. If you’re looking for a bargain, West Brom’s Rickie Lambert (£6.0m), Watford talisman Troy Deeney (£5.5m) and AFC Bournemouth hotshot Callum Wilson (£5.5m) are all worth considering.
