But on the other side of the coin, no one player is bigger than the club and the thing I always try and do first is to bring the club back onto an even footing financially, although it is never the easiest thing to do.
If it helps, Derby sacked me in FM12 after getting promoted to EPL for pretty much the same thing. I had turned down a couple of offers because they didn't meet the value I had in my head for the player, and I now rue the decision.
