I thought I would see if Genie Scout works in Linux Mint with Wine and it seems to work fine with only one problem. It can't tell whether the game is running or not.

If the was a option in the Options screen to disable it checking that the games is running then you could cater for everyone who uses Linux without bothering to alter the game in any manner. Something like:

[x] Disable checking for a running game (Linux users only)

The game's options screen:

The error:

All one needs to do is install Wine, download, and extract like normal, open Genie with Wine and change the directories to:

User data directory: /home/[username]/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2014/shortlists
Save Games Directory: /home/[username]/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2014/games
Shortlist Directory: /home/[username]/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2014/shortlists

Obviously replace [username] with your username (duhhhhhhh). Anyway, I hope some of that helps.
