I wasn't until the very last 10 games or something, visually it didn't make any difference so far. But the thing is, what role was Ilicic in real life playing on as a Central Forward? Is he always been playing as an offensive midfielder? Because he is not familiar with any of the Striker roles even tho he is natural at that position which doesn't make any sense to me.
It looks like he plays often as an attacking midfielder or shadow striker, always on the right. I also believe he plays as a pressing forward when up front, considering that's what Zapata does in Atalanta.
His mentals are not that good, and he has low consistency and versality. Maybe you should forget about playing him as a DLF, at 32 and with his stats I don't think it's possible to see a good outcome. In my save and using a skin which rates the players in each role, he has a 5 as DLF, 9 as shadow strike Mr and 10 as Trequartista
