There's no reason to lose much of a game... FM will make backups for you if you just tell it to, look in the preferences for auto save interval and auto save mode. At least set it to save a copy of the game every (game) week and you'll not have to replay much if it corrupts itself. And you can protect yourself against crashing computers too, if you have the main save file backed up to one of the free cloud services (e.g. dropbox). Why at least one save isn't the default given how vulnerable things still seem to be to gettting corrupted I don't understand.
