Four promotions and four championships in four years – it’s quite an achievement.

The game crashed a couple of times. These are the results from the first simulation.

I played Millwall and in the first simulation we won 2–0, but the game crashed during the Mansfield match.

Because the last save was from before the match, I had to play it again. In the second simulation we won 3–0.

After that we drew 2–2 with Mansfield and then won 2–1 against Leyton.

We then eliminated Norwich on penalties in the FA Cup and played Bolton. We were winning 1–0 when the game crashed again.

January 23 we headed to Wrexham to play them in the Vertu Trophy. We won 3–0 so we are going through.


Diop was in good form recently but he will be out for 6–8 days as he suffered a bruised thigh after landing heavily in training.

Then it was time to play Wycombe and this was another thriller. Overall we have been the better team so winning 4-3 was not a surprise.


Before the transfer window closed I sent backup goalkeeper Vicente Reyes to Dag & Red and backup right-back Federico Colombo to Maidstone on loan to take them off the wage sheet.

Christmas break is over.
It is time to make progress on and off the pitch by collecting more points and fixing the financial problem.
On Saint Stephen’s Day we beat MK Dons 3–0.


Then we won against Port Vale 4–1, coming from behind. This was our last match of the year.


Then on 1 January, Karl Robinson, our assistant manager, took a job as West Brom manager. This resulted in a lot of issues with the game crashing in the later stages, but the latest patch fixed that problem.
The same day we received a reminder that we are failing Financial Fair Play again.

December began with an FA Cup tie against Dorking Wanderers F.C.. We scored in the 11th minute and looked comfortable, but we couldn’t find the second goal to kill the game. That proved costly — they equalized in the 92nd minute and it went to penalties. We rarely concede so late, but I reminded the players that Dorking are a lower-league side and we needed to show our quality. Fortunately, we won the shootout.

It is time for our first match against Salford this season — Gary’s team. I always call it Gary’s team, but in reality David Beckham has also been part of the project from the beginning. So it was no surprise to see him turn up for the match. I suppose Gary wanted someone in his corner just in case they lost and the media came asking questions.

I forgot to add that the recent Exeter City match was in the FA Cup, and for winning it we received some prize money. However, it is not enough to solve our financial problems.







We didn’t pass Financial Fair Play again, so we are still under a transfer embargo. There is a glimpse of hope if we get a new chairman. I’m saying this because it’s an ongoing situation – someone is trying to buy out Jim and take control. It’s a secret for now, but it looks promising. Maybe this will be our solution.

Despite the financial problems off the pitch, the players are blending together very well and becoming familiar with the tactical system. I’ve spoken to several of them personally and made it clear that we must keep this momentum going — it could be crucial in our push for the play-offs.
And it seems the message got through. We kept collecting points.

On 11 October, we faced Peterborough and won 2–1.


Then we beat MK Dons. It was only 1–0, but we were the better side and the victory was fully deserved.

Next we played against Wycombe. They were in the lower part of the league but that doesn’t mean anything these days. It was a bit of a rollercoaster match but we won 3–2.






Some players were called up to the international team so we had to play without them.


Then came our first loss of the season against Bradford. We lost 2–1. Corners are a problem for us but it is rather due to lack of height in the squad. Not much can be done at this stage. Our first match in the Carabao Cup Second Round was against Crystal Palace.
We started the match very well, scoring twice in 25 minutes and dominating the game. Don’t ask me how – I guess luck was on our side.


At half-time we were more than happy with how we played, so I didn’t make any changes.


But looking at the match momentum indicator, I decided to introduce some changes in the 50th minute as it clearly showed that they were pushing to get a goal back. Ten minutes later I also introduced changes to the line-up, taking off tired or underperforming players.
