Dizaepamll:Thank you very much. We really did need to get off to a good start this season to avoid relegation woes again.

Louis O:It was a disappointing result but it didn't seem to damage our confidence.

September: Cup Run Over!

As well as improving the playing personnel I felt it was important to bring in new faces to the backroom staff. I have already been able to bring in David Beckham, Clive Allen, Danny Higginbotham and Lee Young-Pyo who possess much higher ratings in all areas compared to the diabolical staff that were at the club last season. I thought managing to capture the signing of David Beckham was a memorable moment for Notts County but now, I have managed to match that feat by adding legendary AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko to the already talented backroom team.

Part of me wishes that you got shirt sales from backroom staff as we would have made a fortune from this signing along with that of Beckham. Shevchenko’s knowledge in the attacking side of the game will be of a great benefit to our forward players; I can see Ugwu just getting better and better. Shevchenko, in combination with Beckham and Allen will transform the training sessions and only good things can come from it.

The impact of the improvements made to the backroom team has already been evident in the matches we have played so far, including our second successful month of the season. We are simply outscoring teams in our league and providing them with very little chance of getting shots on our goal. Ugwu was in sensational form yet again this season, but he would not be having the chances he is without the likes of Scougall and Giorico, who were both new signings before the start of this season. As a result of the team being so comfortable in games, I have been able to tinker with the team instructions ever so slightly. For example, in the match against Oldham Athletic, I allowed the team to play without the restriction of having the work the ball into the box. It allowed them more freedom in how they attack the Oldham goal and it dually paid off. Again I am disappointed in not having come up against a tougher opponent in the league and I am looking forward to the challenge of doing so.

24 points out of 27 is a great way to start the league.

I cannot complain at all Pauker. Things seem to be going so well at the moment. The story has caught up with where I am in game at the moment so the updates may be less frequent :/
Just a thank you to everyone that appears to still be reading this story despite the lack of regular updates. Life is hectic at the minute but I promise I will try my best to get updates up this weekend! YNWA!

October: Start of a Decline?

After what had been an impressive start to the season, especially after the relegation battle last season, I had headed into this month expecting a full house of wins. However, for some reason that I cannot get my head around, we did far from this which has meant we have slipped from pole position in the league. The match against Sheffield United didn’t get us off to a good start this month with us throwing away a comfortable two nil lead. The team just crumbled under pressure and just didn’t seem to be able to retain possession, which seemed to be a reoccurring theme at other points of this challenging month.

It is great to see the club progress to the third round of the FA Trophy but it is not a competition that I will be too bothered about if we are shown the exit door in the next round. Our sole focus needs to be the league and pushing for as high as position as possible; I would like however a great third round tie in the FA Cup with one of the big teams coming to Meadow Lane.

The performances against Southend and Preston were brilliant with Paul Heffernan, having been taken off the transfer list, repaying the faith I had shown in him; he got a hat trick against Preston. It was brilliant to see him come back into the side and show that he does have some good quality left in his right boot! The match against lowly club Barnsley was appalling and we really didn’t deserve a thing from it. That signalled a downfall in terms of the result against Swindon who are another team quite far behind us in the league and really should not have been as big a threat as they were. It was important to get back to winning ways against Walsall, but I was left disappointed again that we seemed to find this opposition challenging, when it really should have been a walkover. I do feel partly responsible for the bad results this month with me having chopped and changed the starting line up. I will learn from this and ensure that I find my preferred starting 11 and stick with them as long as they remain match fit.

I am glad. It has gone a bit on the back burner recently but I am glad to see people still giving it a read.

November: Potential League Contenders?

I had been left very disappointed with a couple of the teams performances last month, which appears to be the theme for this month too. It is difficult to decide if my expectations are too high or whether the team are just making the expected the progress and I should be content with where we are right now as a club, especially in the league. The month was on the whole a very good one, with us showing other teams and pundits that we should be a team to be reckoned with and we will do all it takes to do well in this league. We are heading into every game with the aim to outscore the opponents and control possession; this is something that really is working for us at the moment and part of that will come down to the influence of Andriy Shevchenko and David Beckham who are an integral part of my backroom staff. Gozie Ugwu is currently the leading scorer in the league and breaking Notts County records left right and centre and he really does have a bright future ahead of him.

Ensuring that our experienced players put in a shift too when they are called upon has been very important. Damien Duff has had to step in at left back as this is an area that we are weak in and will be looking to strengthen in the January transfer window. Duff brings a lot of experience to the side and knows how to control the tempo of the play which is important when it comes to seeing out the end of a game when the lead we have is a slender one. David Bentley is not getting much game time, and disappointingly he is not putting in good performances when he is given the chances. He is a player that frustrated me in real life with him not ever living up to expectations that were set, mainly by him. He is now unfortunately seen as a faded footballer, and I can see why in his performances.

It is great for the club to be making progress in the domestic cup competitions but they are still not the priority but instead are being used as opportunities to give some of our backup player’s game-time, including Fabian Spiess who has been moaning about not getting much game time. Unfortunately for him, despite him being a player with great potential and a potential future German number 1 goalkeeper, he is not getting ahead of Jak Alnwick who I am desperate to see break into the England side. Unfortunately we will have to gain promotion into the Championship for him to even be considered.

The festive period will be another busy and challenging month but it is one that I expect us to put 100% into and come away with a full house of wins.
