2016/17 Champions League Group B Preview

Two weeks ago UEFA announced the group stage pairings for this current edition of Champions League. Since last week we have been previewing each group every Monday. For this week we will be previewing Group B. The teams in B are Manchester City, Dijon FCO, Atlético Madrid and Viktoria Plzen.

Manchester City

The current champions are looking to defend their title. Last season they defeated Arsenal in penalties to capture their first title. Last season City finished third in the Premier League. Lead by Manuel Pellegrini the Citizens are a strong favorite to make another quality run to the final.

Dijon FCO

Dijon are a club everyone has enjoyed watching in the past two years. Thanks to manager Marc-Édouard Gagné, the club has risen from obscurity to a global name. The Ligue 1 champions were not even picked to win the league last season. As you all remember they made that run in Europa League last year where they lost to Celtic in the semi finals. I see them either in second place or third and make another strong run in Europa.

What a great start to the season. After the hard loss against PSG in the super cup we were lucky to bounce back with this form. Hopefully we are able to keep things up and win some more. Overall thoughts

We have continued the special run in September. It feels really good to still be number one and the guys don't look like they will get beat anytime soon. We also played our first two Champions League matches. They were pretty special. The first match against Plzen was a much needed victory. Then the biggest result happened. Facing Atlético Madrid, we were the underdogs, people wrote us off and said there was no chance in hell wr would compete with them. Guess what?? We did the match ended in a 2-2 draw. So far four points accumulated.

Table

Great results :)

Overall thoughts

Not much to talk about this month. We still have not lost. With that we are now the Ligue 1 record holders for games without a loss. The streak has gone on for 36 matches now. The Monaco win was really important it showed that last year was no fluke. Finally in Champions League we lost to City 3-1. No biggie since they are the defending champs. We played really good.

Table

Good win against Monaco, unlucky VS City. Tearing the league apart :D
Don't worry, a season or two in the future, you'll be able to beat City with ease!

P.S - Can you show an SS of you're tactic?

Overall thoughts

League play is still the same. Lets talk about Champions League. In the last match we needed to beat Atlético Madrid to advance. If we lost we would be going to Europa again. So it was level until the 90th with about 10 seconds to go in stoppage time. Will Hughes giot us the game winner. We advance!!!!!!!!!!!

Table

Decent month, still going strong in the league :D
