2014/15 Ligue 1 Preview

LIGUE 1

The beginning of 2014/15

The year was 2013
A period of change and upheaval in Dijon
caused conflict between the players and the board. Then
came a former footballer by the name of
Marc-Édouard Gagné.

During his first year he
lead Dijon FCO to their first Ligue 2
Title and a return to Ligue 1.
They would go far that season in both major cups defeating
the Evil Empire Paris Saint-Germain in one.

Fueled by their promotion
Dijon FCO look to create a name in the 2014/15 season.
Will they succeed
or
will they fail?

Overall thoughts

The first month was what I expected with this club. Other than the Nantes result I am quite pleased. Our match against P$G was pretty good all things considered. They beefed up the squad so much that I knew we and others would be in trouble. I believe they spent over 50m this last window. Against OL it was very close and I am proud of the boys. Finally the two game winning streak is what we needed, hopefully we can build up. The team looked way happier after the departure of Ademilson.

Dijon's new faces

With the promotion into Ligue 1 Dijon FCO Chairman Oliver Delcourt was very generous in helping the club add new faces for this season. During a recent interview he stated that manager Marc-Édouard Gagné asked for a few extra million to help the squad become stronger to stay in top flight football. Well he did and here are the new faces.

Interview with David Beckham

http://static.goal.com/258900/258960.jpg
Since March of this year David Beckham has been part of Dijon FCO a club founded in 1998. They are currently in their second spell in Ligue 1 after winning Ligue 2 back in May. Jeff Sterling recently sat down with Becks asking a wide range of questions. He is currently a coach for the U19 squad.

David why did you decided to join Dijon FCO?

Well after finishing up my football career in Paris I was ready for retirement. After a few months I was approached by Marc-Édouard (DFCO Manager) about an open position within the Dijon U19 squad. At first I was a little uneasy about taking this job but now that it has been several months I am enjoying it. Managing is more exciting than playing.

What did your wife say about the job?

At first she was really upset mostly because Dijon is not a big city like Paris or Los Angles and she enjoys being around people she knows. After awhile she started to like it especially on the privacy factor.

About that do you miss the major fanfare?

At times yes, but I am at a point in life where i need my privacy and being apart of Dijon really helps. Nobody really goes gaga over me and that is fine. I love all my fans though. Plus Marc-Édouard promised me that he wouldn't take advantage of my name just to get people to watch the club, like what happened in Paris.

Will you be owning that Miami Club in MLS?

Maybe someday but for now nope.

Finally, do you think you will be back in England to manage?

Once again maybe. I would love to manage PNE or Man United.

September

Dijon FCO v. FC Lorient
2-1

AC Ajaccio v. Dijon FCO
1-1

Dijon FCO v. ESTAC Troyes
5-1

Olympique de Marseille v. Dijon FCO
1-3

Overall thoughts

September was a much better month for us as we went 2-1-1. The seven points that were gained really helped with our league position. We can make a push for mid table or Europe if we keep up good results up. The loss to OM was not as upsetting as I would have though, they are a good team and we tried our best. Kevin Gameiro was the key man as he scored four goals in the month.

veery good month indeed top half cant be to much happier

October

Dijon FCO v. LOSC Lille
2-1

Dijon FCO v. Havre AC
3-1

Evian TG FC v. Dijon FCO
0-1

Dijon FCO v. Valenciennes FC
Coupe de la Ligue 3rd Round
1-0

Overall thoughts

October was a great month. Lille was obviously our hardest opponent and I am proud of how the club played against them. The other results were amazing too. Honestly I can't believe we are in third place. Its early but 22 points is good, we are close to being away from not being relegated at the end of the year. Finally that cup win was great now bring on the next club.
