UEFA Champions Leagues Group Stage Draw In Full

Group A

APOEL F.C.
Chelsea F.C.
PSV Eindhoven
FC Shakhtar Donetsk

Merson's Predictions

From Chelsea's point of view, they have to be confident of topping the group. Easy 1st place for them. PSV are not the team that they were, and I can see them dropping out of the competition, with Shakhtar becoming more reputable within European football in recent years. Shakhtar will take 2nd, while PSV will finish up in 3rd. I really cannot see APOEL creating any shocks in Group A, so 4th place will go to them.

Group B

FC Bayern Munich
Manchester City
S.S.C Napoli
Paris Saint-Germain

Merson's Predictions

An extremely tough group for Manchester City, and I wouldn't be surprised if they failed to qualify. Bayern Munich will be full of confidence after winning this tournament last season against their league rivals Borussia Dortmund. Munich to top the group. I think Manchester City will just be able to grab second place, but there will be very little in it. I genuinely think that PSG are not a great side, but with the money they have, they could well be soon. I think they will finish bottom of this group though, with Napoli's new signing, Gonzalo Higuaín looking to increase his new teams chances in the competition. Napoli 3rd, and PSG 4th.

Group C

R.S.C. Anderlecht
Borussia Dortmund
Juventus F.C.
Real Madrid C.F.

Merson's Predictions

This year's group of death. Three very strong clubs, and this will be very interesting. I am not comfortable enough to make a judgement, but if forced to, I would order the teams in the following way; Borussia Dortmund, 1st; Real Madrid, 2nd; Juventus, 3rd; Anderlecht, 4th. I really do not know what to expect though, and I would keep your eyes peeled for some fantastic clashes in this group.

Group D

CSKA Moscow
F.C. Copenhagen
F.C. Porto
Real Sociedad

Merson's Predictions

Another tricky one to call. Porto will top the group. They may have sold some quality players in recent years, such as Hulk and João Moutinho, but they still have a top quality squad, and I think that will see them through here. It will be a close race for second, I think between CSKA and Sociedad, but I think the Spanish side will just get there ahead of the Russians. Copenhagen are simply not cut out for this stage yet. They will finish bottom.

Group E

Atlético Madrid
Galatasaray S.K.
Manchester United
FC Steaua București

Merson's Predictions

I think Manchester United could struggle here under their new manager, David Moyes. I think that Atlético will be too strong for the other teams, and will top the group, with United coming in second. Let's face it, Steaua aren't fantastic, and I think that will show. Galatasary 3rd, Steaua bottom.

Group F

Arsenal F.C.
Celtic F.C.
Olympiacos F.C.
FC Schalke 04

Merson's Predictions

Arsenal will struggle with the quality teams in this group, and I can't see them winning it. I think the German side Schalke will surprise Arsenal in the games between them, and they will top the group. Arsenal will go through I think, but just nipping it ahead of Olympiacos, who I think will provide the most shocks in this group, and Celtic to finish bottom.

Group G

F.C. Barcelona
Bayer Leverkusen
Olympique de Marseille
FC Viktoria Plzeň

Merson's Predictions

I don't see Viktoria Plzeň having any surprises in store, so I am going to put them down in 4th place. Barcelona won't make any mistakes so they will finish top, with Marseille second. I feel that Leverkusen need to improve a lot more, especially after losing Lars Bender to Real Madrid last month. They'll finish 3rd.

Group H

AFC Ajax
S.L. Benfica
A.C. Milan
ŠK Slovan Bratislava

Merson's Predictions

I'll be honest. I really didn't think Slovan Bratislava would reach this stage. But I also cannot see them getting any further, and they will finish bottom of this group. Milan will top this group, as I think Balotelli possesses heaps of quality, and definitely enough to see off the defences of the other teams in the group. Benfica will grab second ahead of Ajax, so Ajax will have to settle for Europa League in my opinion.
Holy cow. Group B is mental! Your group is pretty tough too! Loving the bit with Merson's predictions :P
Great update! Liked the addition of Merson's comments!
Great update and tough group but I know you will still get through :D
Ahhh the wise words of Paul Merson; it is interesting to see he can at least spell names right despite getting them wrong quite often on Soccer Saturday. Keep up the great story writing.

DEADLINE DAY: RAMOS MOVE ON THE CARDS?

Speculation over the future of Sergio Ramos has picked up this afternoon, with the Spaniard, who has recently been replaced by Xabi Alonso as Real Madrid's vice-captain following new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy's appointment at the club.

It has long been reported that oil rich English club Manchester City are interested in signing the twenty seven year old defender. However, in light of Alonso's recent appointment, Ramos has insisted that he remains happy with life at The Bernabéu, and his agent has since ruled out a move away from the club.

But, as we know all too well, what agents say doesn't often reflect what actually happens, and this could soon change. The defender, who has won over 100 caps for his national team, has four years remaining on his £140,000 per week contract with Real Madrid.

However, despite things looking like Ramos will stay for the time being at least, when asked in a press conference about the speculation, van Nistelrooy refused to rule out a move, before adding that he would be doing his utmost to keep Ramos happy. He has so far featured in all three of Madrid's league games this season.
He's a good defender, and would be a big loss if he were sold. With it being Deadline day, the only problem would be getting a quality replacement in in time. :/
Ramos is a good defender so would be a big loss and a shame if he went.
Hopefully you have a good replacement lined up if he leaves!
