SKY SPORTS NEWS: Breaking news has come to us today from Spain as Diego Simeone has today left Atletico Madrid with immediate effect. This has shocked the world of football as Simeone we are hearing had a huge bust up with the board yesterday and has today been let go. Atletico Madrid was this season looking to try and compete with the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid for the number 1 spot. This has surely put a spanner in the works of the clubs pre-season planning.

A few names have been floating around already with Andre Villas Boas being named the early favourite with most bookmakers also Ronaldo and Michael Laudrup have all been mentioned. The board have already indicated they want a young manager who will bring the fans fun attacking football this season.

A lot of fans protested today against the sacking of Diego Simeone as they believe the club has taken a step back. A lot of fans was also on a rampage of appointing AVB as they think he is not the man to take this club on to the next level.

This is the club statement that has been made today – “We are sorry to say that Diego Simeone has now left Atletico Madrid due to unprofessional behaviour in recent days. We will be looking for a new manager to take the hot seat for the new season and already have a shortlist we will look at straight away, We urge the fans to please be patient while we appoint the new manager and have faith in us”

SKY SPORTS NEWS: Atletico Madrid has today announced the ex-Swansea manager MICHAEL LAUDRUP as the new manager of the club. The La Liga team have pulled out a surprise appointment as many people had AVB down as the favourite to take the hot seat. Laudrup had a very good start in the Premier League with Swansea before losing the board’s confidence and getting the boot.

Atletico Madrid have said this…
“It’s truly a great honour to announce Michael as our new boss today he is a young manager with a great footballing brain and thrives to succeed as the new Atletico Madrid boss”


SKY SPORTS – “Michael you sit here today as the manager of Atletico Madrid are you ready for the task.”

LAUDRUP – “Of course this is a great honour and I ‘am so excited to get underway and prepare for the upcoming season.”

SKY SPORTS-“What are you goals for this season and what do the board want to see you bring to the club as the new manager?”

LAUDRUP-“I ‘am here to compete with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona that’s what me the board and most important the fans want. The style of football will be attacking and a pleasure to watch it’s what any fan of any club wants to witness when they come to see their beloved team on the pitch.”

SKY SPORTS-“Interesting comments” “Are there any players out there you want to bring to club ready for the new season if so who?”

LAUDRUP-“ There are many players out there I would love to bring in but as you know it isn’t that easy if the players I want come across at the right price I will do what I can to secure their signature.”

CLUB PRESIDENT-“Michael will not take any more questions today thank you.”
