February - Hot On Their Tale

January wasn't the greatest month, but nonetheless we caught up with Middlesbrough by two points, and were closer to an automatic play off spot. With others catching up behind us, our form would have to improve massively in February, starting with a win at Bournemouth which the players duly delivered. Goals from Nugent and Philips ensured that despite Bournemouth scoring two late goals we would go home with the points after a late second from Nugent.

It was time for revenge now, for last year, and the last game. Watford were coming to the King Power, and this was a chance to show them up. That turned out to be easier than I thought...Riyad Mahrez, a player out of contention all season in his first 20 minutes of his first game of the season prodded the first home three minutes before Nugent headed in a Mahrez cross.
Nugent went one on one with the keeper to score again in the 54th minute making Watford's 64th minute goal a pointless act as our defence held firm...for once.

A win at Watford though, didn't give us the motivation to beat Nottm Forest it seems. Forest hit at us early in the 13th minute and after attack after attack we finally got our goal to level the scores. Rather than coming from a Leicester player it came from a Nottm own goal. It's a miracle we didn't score more actually, we were extremely unlucky. I have to give credit to their keeper though, he had a blinder!

We'll be hoping these two games won't damage morale, Ipswich are a team we should be beating and to go behind at HOME not once but twice to a club so low down is just sheer laziness from our defence. The attack got us two goals to keep one of the three points, but regardless, I feel let down by our defence, and I am sure the attack will be too.

Don't get me wrong, there have been some brilliant performances individually. Capuano, De Laet and Liam Moore especially have done ever so well. I accept Moore is still very young as well so I can see why we may make a few mistakes, but I thought of all people Wes Morgan tutoring Moore could only help their partnership. Well, it helped Moore it seems but Morgan, our captain has been probably my worst player so far this season. He needs to buck his ideas up fast before he is dropped.

March - Ten match unbeaten run ends

The probability of gaining an automatic promotion spot is getting higher and higher after each game we play. With two wins and two draws last month, we would need to pick it up slightly and really push for these all important wins which could ultimately see us pass Blackburn in second place and possibly Middlesbrough at the top.

Charlton are a side most consider to be overachieving in a mid-table position. But we all know what we did to "Overachievers" Millwall. We ripped them to pieces. Now, we also went on to do this to Charlton but by not as many this time. Knockaert, Moore and Nugent scored the first three of the game before the break and Charlton went on to get a consolation. Suddenly, from out of no where, Danny Drinkwater without a goal to his name all season fired in a long shot after a corner of ours was clicked. It swerved like mad and the keeper was rooted to the spot and the ball rippled the net.

We made it three in three for the month after two wins over Wigan (1-0) and Barnsley (3-0) Wigan who are dangerously looming in 23rd place would need a shot result at Leicester but thanks to the only goal of the game from Knockaert, it stopped them providing. One goal from Nugent and two from that man again, yes...Knockaert sealed an emphatic win over Barnsley.

Morgan, and FINALLY Chris Wood after 15 hours and 59 minutes without a goal both got one here over Blackpool. The game was tied for most of the game but thankfully, Wood popped up to nod the winner home.

The month really is starting to be about goal droughts. Kavin Philips, another man without a goal in a few hours of game time got the winner at Blackburn. He was sent through on goal and smashed it past a scrambling keeper who tried to come out and collect the ball, but he misjudged the pass, and Philips put us second in the league! Get in theeeere!

We ended the month with one last win, and a sour loss to Burnley. Our 2-0 win against Yeovil couldn't help us against Burnley as we fell to their knees and missed out on the chance to go THREE POINTS CLEAR AT THE TOP!

Yes, it's disappointing to miss out on something like that as it could have given us a huge boost. But, look at us go...We at the top on goal difference!! Bring it on Middlesbrough!

a perfect month and guess who is on top of the table? :D

April - A Month To Forget

Urgh...April has been a month to forget! After such an amazing run of form in the League, we somehow have absolutely trashed our chances of automatic promotion. There is a chance we could still get it...But it's looking unlikely.

We lost for a second time in a row to Sheffield Wednesday at home. An underachieving team such as them shouldn't be beating us, no way. But they dominated us and the players seemed to not be bothered. Thankfully we salvaged a point at Brighton with Kevin Philips scoring again this season. 40 years old but even still he somehow is challenging for the golden boot.

We would have taken the point from Reading as well, and this was at home...And to be honest we nearly took a point. Could have been three in fact, but we ended up with none. We went behind to a Paul Konchesky own goal, but got back in it before half time with a Sean Morrison own goal. We had many chances to score a second but in the last minute...Erg! The last minute was upon us, and somehow Reading broke us down to score the winner.

QPR did almost exactly the same. We were level most of the game but finally David Nugent scored to put us 1-0 up. But on 81 minutes, Ignasi Miguel scored an own goal and then five minutes later in the 86th minute...they scored again, and now this was starting to get out of hand.

We needed to stop this streak fast before we tumbled further behind Burnley who were in second place but couldn't do so in the Bolton game as we were put to the sword by Lee Chung Yeong early in the second half.

Could we finish the month on a much needed high? Against a team we should be beating? Yes!! Finally, a win! We scored twice in the space of six minutes between the 30th and 36th which put us 2-0 to the good. They scored right on the half time whistle but we held on for dear life.

Well...What a horrible month! We have squandered almost all hope of automatic promotion this season and may have to go through the play offs. We sit third, one point behind Burnley with a goal difference of 33, 10 more than anyone else so a draw for us and a loss for them puts us level on points with them but ahead on goal difference. OR, a win for us and a draw for them will put us 2 points ahead of them. Middlesbrough also confirmed their Championship win this month so congratulations to them.

We play Doncaster and Yes!! Burnley play Reading away who will hopefully beat them, we should be beating Doncaster as well. It's not over until the final whistle and we WILL keep on fighting. It's all to play for.
