Wasn't the greatest Pre-Season. I think you should have beaten Lazio, however Chelsea and Real were always going to be hard teams to beat. Let's hope for a good start to the competitive season!
Disappointing pre-season, but results should pick up!
Not a great pre-season, but with the squad you have built, the season should definitely be more successful.
Not the greatest pre-season, but with a squad like yours, league victory is definitely possible! :)

Les Parisiens lift Trophée des Champions in Gabon

Paris St. Germain got off to a winning start under new manager Ronaldinho as they saw off EA Guingamp to win the Trophée des Champions in Libreville.

The game was a cagey affair, with Guingamp looking to add to their impressive Coupe de France victory and PSG's new boss attempting to consolidate his position within the team with results, meaning both teams were unlikely to go all out for the win. Indeed PSG did manage the victory but it was not as convincing as fans would have liked as they managed a meagre 1-0 victory over lesser opponents.

It certainly seemed to be a side in transition as alongside the big names such as Ezequiel Lavezzi, Edinson Cavani and of course, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, there were 3 new signings amongst the back four; Brazilian centre back David Luiz, Colombian Eder Alvarez Balanta and at right back, the Ivorian Serge Aurier in the team named by 34 year old boss Ronaldinho. Also involved was Alessandro Florenzi who joined from Roma.

The only new signing of Ronaldinho not to feature in the game was Luciano Vietto of Argentina who joined from Racing Club. Fans are wondering whether or not the forward will be loaned out as it was thought he would be a backup striker but having only been utilised in one friendly, against SS Juve Stabia. Vietto was once again sat on the bench and it is unclear whether or not he has a place in the side or is just one for the future.

These defenders put in a solid but unspectacular performance, like the rest of the side, as they repelled Guingamp attacks but failed to bring the fresh impetus to the attack which was lacklustre on the day despite the strong players. They did however do their main job as they allowed only 1 shot on target and stopped the opposition from creating any major chances. PSG meanwhile managed 10 efforts but only were disappointing as they tried from long range and promptly missed the target more often than not. It would be fair to say that PSG were the deserved victors but 1-0 was seen by the Guingamp fans as flattering the reigning Ligue 1 champions. The goal came in the first half through Edinson Cavani who latched onto a long ball from Lavezzi to blast the ball in past the goalkeeper and fans of EAG were sure that Cavani had in fact strayed offside before the pass was played.

Indeed, former Paris winger Ludovic Giuly, who played alongside Ronaldinho at Barcelona was unimpressed with the performance and stated on beIN Sport's live coverage of the match that he expected more from the side.

"At this stage of his managerial career all Ronnie needs is results but you have to wonder whether he'll be successful or not because it was a disappointing performance today despite the win. He needs to get more out of the front line because they have some truly special players. I think his transfers have been good but so far he has struggled to get the team playing well.

My main worry is that they'll fail in Europe which is the most important front for PSG right now as that's where they're being challenged. They failed in their friendly matches to defeat some sides such as Madrid, Chelsea and even Lazio, so I think they may struggle against the best teams."

However, Ronaldinho was pleased with his team's display in Gabon, stating that the team had played well and had made use of their possession.

"My main aim was to make sure we played well and we did. I'm impressed with the side because we were the better side and deserved to win. The scoreline doesn't really bother me because with a bit more hard work we would have made a few more goals. In essence it is just a pre seasno match so I'm not too bothered about it but obviously it feels good to have won the match."

The man of the match award was given to the goalscorer Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan was pleased with his performance but admitted that he has played better games in his time.

"I am happy to have won the cup and to score the goal to win it is a dream. We've made good progress during pre season but I am disappointed a little because we didn't really show it. Another day we might have managed 3 or 4 here but we got just one because we weren't as good as we could have been, yet it's a decent start so I can't really complain."

PSG begin their Ligue 1 season away at Lille OSC before hosting Lens, then playing Girondins de Bordeaux and FC Lorient.

PSG won the Trophée des Champions with a 1-0 win over EA Guingamp. However the performance was unimpressive and questions are being asked as to whether Ronaldinho is up to the task, but his players are confident that they have made progress.

Note: I wrote this update as Alex's prize for winning The Football Challenge for this week.
Great update Louis, so much better than Alex's ;)
Huge thanks to Louis O., who wrote the last update after I won the Football Challenge! :D

Fzemdegs: Yeah, some results were unlucky. Thank you! :)

AaronHJFT96: True, but I don't really care about pre-season that much. Lazio was unlucky, and we did fight against Chelsea, but Real Madrid was just awful. You shall see if the season starts off well!

Tallery1164: I agree, but I hope results pick up too.

TVDLC123: Yeah, I hope so too. :)

Pokarioboy: Agreed. Thank you :)
Great update and congrats on the win! Looking forward to seeing you get the season started!
I second that ^. Superb, detailed update. Well done on bringing your first piece of silverwear in. Let's hope it will be the first of many. :D
Just caught up. Some decent young signings, especially with Aurier.

Not the best pre-season but on the bright side your graphics are excellent. It just about makes up for it ;)

Also seems like not the best game against EA Guingamp but at least you won and it is some silverware for the new manager.
Nice update here by Louis, and it's nice to see you've got your first prize!
