AFC Telford | Rebuilding a Broken Project

Hello everyone and welcome to my first ever story on these forums. I am obviously a newcomer and was going to wait until Football Manager 2015 came out to publish my first story, but I thought what the heck, I'll bring it to you now. I plan to keep this ongoing until FM15 comes out and then probably make a new thread with a whole new story. However, my plan for this story is to completely turn around AFC Telford and all of their troubles from last season, if you do not know what happened around the club then stay tuned to this story and find out. Newly appointed chairman of AFC Telford has today announced that the club are searching for their new full time manager to take over from John Psaras who was relieved of his duties after the recent relegation from the Skrill Premier. Psaras was assisted by striker Alex Meechan, Goalkeeper Ryan Young and midfielder Phil Trainor in the everyday happenings in and around the club. This just shows how much trouble this club are really in.

Dosser took over from former chairman Lee Carter after he enjoyed a successful 9 year run as chairman of the club. Carter has remained as managing director and has expressed his delight at the appointment of Dosser who he says can turn this clubs fortunes around with help from brilliant staff at the club. Dosser was formally the finance director at Telford since 2004 and expressed his desire to reshape his beloved club.

It is said that Dosser is looking for someone who has a positive attitude toward an ongoing project that needs a lot of assistance, someone who knows quite a bit about the club and also someone that knows football as well as himself. In recent press conferences he has referred to his search as 'looking for our saviour'. He has also said that whoever the man is to take the Telford hot seat, he will have huge responsibility and expectation on his shoulders from evergrowing aggitation around the club.

Dosser Opens Talks With Three Possible Employees

This afternoon, Telford chairman Ian Dosser announced that he is in talks with three different possible employees for the vacant manager hot spot. He stated that all three of these people all have a positive attitude toward football, the club and also the clubs project that they look to progress in coming years.

Although he released this news, he also refused to name any of the possibilities for the vacant managerial position at Telford as he says it would be a huge disrespect to the unsuccessful applicants. Although Dosser remains to be tight lipped about this, we believe that he will come to his ultimate decision within the week, if not within two weeks. Dosser was keen to add that they were keen to employ the new boss before the start of their pre-season to give him sufficient time to gel with the players and implement his own philosophies at the club.

Earlier on this week Ian Dosser admitted he was in talks with three possible candidates for the managerial position at AFC Telford. Now, it seems he has found his man and appointed him the manager. The three managers who were in contention for the job were Guiseley boss Mark Bower who expressed great interest in managing Telford, former player Neil Howarth who is currently the assistant manager at Cheltenham and favoured personnel Richard Beale who is currently employed at Birmingham as their Under 21's manager. The man who eventually got the position of manager was Neil Howarth, a former player and captain of the Shropshire club.

Dosser told us that Howarth was perfect for the job due to his huge afilliation with the club, his desire to become a full time manager himself and also the fact he knows the club and many of these players inside and out. Dosser also believes that Howarth can reignite the fight that Telford had 2 years ago and get them back to the successful stature they once had.

In Howarth's first interview he gave some hints on what he plans to bring to the club for the upcoming season. 'I plan to get this team ammediately in to the playoffs this season but the squad we currently have is not strong enough to mount a real challenge for promotion. This means I will have to delve in to the transfer market to bring in a few new players. Whether or not players will be leaving the club I do not know yet. I will have to sit down with the squad and talks things through. I will be looking to bring in an attacking midfielder on the left side, a striker, a right back and maybe a few more around the park. I cant wait to see what this season brings us'.

Howarth will make his non competitive debut on Wednesday when his Telford side take on AFC Telford Under 21's, they then have 4 home games on the bounce against Notts County, Hibernian, Wrexham and Wolves before they travel to Cheshire to take on Nantwich Town FC. They will finish their pre-season with an away game back in Shropshire against local side Market Drayton. Just 5 days later the real season starts for Telford with a home tie against Workington.
