Welcome:

Hello and happy FM15!! This will be my first story here for FM15!!

As FM15 marks the start of the current Major League Soccer season I will be taking over as my favorite team DC United and try to turn things around. At the end of the 2013 season DC had their worst season in club and league history. Today 10/20/2014 they turned things around and are Eastern Conference Champions.

I will be playing as current head coach and club legend Ben Olsen. Olsen has been a member of DC United since 1998. From 1998 until 2009 he played for the club making 221 apps while scoring 29 goals. From the 2000-01 season he was loaned out to Nottingham Forrest where he made 18 apps and scored two goals.

Since 2010 Olsen has been on the management side of the club starting off as an assistant coach. Mid way through that season he was named manager and has been in that position ever sense. Since becoming manager he has one competition win, the 2013 US Open Cup.

D.C. United to keep Olsen after disappointing season and other news
BySteven Goff October 31 at 1:00 PM

United Head Coach Ben Olsen will be counting his lucky stars here at the end of the 2013 MLS campaign. Despite leading the club to their third US Open Cup title the Black and Red finished a league and club worst 16 points.

After the 2012 campaign, United's form took a sharp turn downward as injuries, underachievement from offseason acquisitions, and a loss of form caused the team to suffer their worst season on record. The extremely poor season came as universal shock to fans and media, who thought United would be one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference, and a potential candidate for the MLS Cup title.

"Despite the team playing way under what was expected I still have faith in Ben and feel that this could have been a fluke as you can not control things like injuries. Even though we are giving him a shot he (Ben) is on an extremely short leash for the upcoming season."-Erick Thohir, Owner of D.C. United

In other news we also learned the club declined to pick up the option on captain Dwayne De Rosario. After three years with the club he will now be eligible for the Re-Entry Draft later this year. It is unknown why the club declined his option as the Canadian International was a key leader and motivator to the club in the past three years. Last season Dwayne was inactive for a decent amount of the season due to injury.

"We want to thank Dwayne for his contributions to our team over the past three seasons,” said D.C. United General Manager Dave Kasper. “He was instrumental in helping the club reach the 2013 Eastern Conference Championship Series, as well as winning this year's U.S. Open Cup. This was a difficult decision to make, but it was one that we felt was best for our team to move forward into next season and beyond. We wish Dwayne all the best with his future.”

The club will return to action in December as they will tour Indonesia. This mini tour was set up by Owner Erick Thohir to increase the D.C. brand in the South East Asian County.
