In an attempt to put some class into the Scottish game, I have loaded all leagues from England, Ireland, N.Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Starting off with Montrose in the Scottish Third Division, I will be signing only players with an English nationality. Any players in the future coming through the youth ranks will be played regardless of nationality.

Having been offered £500 per week and a 1 year contract I had a lot to prove, with the club having 5 players on loan for a total of £410 a week I decided to cancel them all and use the wages on players I wanted to bring into the club. The board had £552 per week for me to use and with the average being £50 a week I should be able to bring a good solid foundation of young English players to the club.

The papers stated an 8th place finish should be our ambitions and with this it was all about getting the players sorted for the start of the season and seeing how many fans we could cram into rented 4,936 capacity stadium.

2012 Pre-Season

With a pre-season of 5 games, 1 against our 2nd string - it would allow me to find out a little bit more about my players. 3 wins and 2 draws tells me its pretty much all or nothing with these boys. Two 3-1 wins and a 3-0 win sandwiched by a 4-0 and 4-1 defeat.

Star player in pre-season was 24 year old Terry Masson who scored 2 goals in 2 games and a 7.70 avg rating.

Managed to bring 3 lads into the club:

18 year old Stewart Stephen can play as a striker or on the left side of an attacking midfield, came through the ranks of Second Division Forfar and is one for the future and will learn his craft in my 2nd string this season. Made 3 pre-season appearances with an avg rating of 6.60.

Next in was 19 year old keeper Alastair Worby who came through the ranks at English Championship side Coventry, not making a pro appearance he spent a year in Scotland at Premier League St.Johnstone before moving to me and fighting for the number 1 shirt. Played 3, kept 2 clean sheets and let 3 goals in during pre-season. 6.73 was his avg rating. Expecting him if he keeps fit and develops correctly to be my number 1 this season.

Third signing of pre-season was for 25 year old Chris Shanks. Blue Square Bet North experience with Blyth was before a move to Cowdenbeath and 11 first team matches. Comes to me as a first team squad player who will never be a first choice, but will be a first team squad member. Made 1 pre-season appearance with a 6.70 avg rating.
2012 - Aug

The month started off with a couple of cup defeats losing 2-1 at home to Peterhead in the Challenge Cup and the same scoreline against Hamilton.

Clyde were first up in the league, drawing 1-1 with Scott Johnstone hitting a 92nd minute equaliser. Following this was a 2-1 away win at Annan; Craig McLeish and Phil McGuire bagging the goals.

Off the field, I am hoping to announce some English scouts and a positive is we have made money this month.

Rangers have started the season on fire, as many would have expected - opening the season up with a 7-2 home win at home to Queen's Park and 2-0 away at Clyde. We play Rangers early November!
