Cristian Pavon will add some South American flair to Toulouse this season

• The Argentinian joins from Boca Juniors for €6.25 million
• Pavon will attend an intensive language course to learn French
• The winger will join Toulouse on their pre-season training camp in the United States

Toulouse have completed the transfer of Argentinian winger Cristian Pavon from Boca Juniors for €6.25 million. The contact signed by Pavon sees him earn €8,500 per week until 2020.

“This is a fantastic signing for Toulouse and I am very pleased Cristian joined the club, he is a very good player.” said Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage. “Cristian has great potential, myself and all the coaching staff at Toulouse will be doing the best we can in helping him live up to that potential.” he added.

“I am pleased to have signed for Toulouse, France is a beautiful country and I look forward to discovering it while I continue my journey as a professional footballer.” said Pavon. “I will do my best to fit in at Toulouse by learning French and try my best to help the club improve and reach its goals.” he added.

Pavon will join his new teammates in the United States for a pre-season training camp which will end with a fixture against Didier Drogba’s Montreal Impact in Canada. After the training camp, Toulouse set off on a four match pre-season tour which will seem them play fixtures against clubs from Belgium and the Czech Republic.

Toulouse had a poor pre-season tour, suffering three defeats in five matches as they prepare for the start of the Ligue 1 season.

After finishing their pre-season training camp in the United States, Toulouse went up to Canada to face the Montreal Impact, coming away victorious 2-1 with Toulouse captain Abel Aguilar scoring the winning goal.

After the victory in Canada, Toulouse travelled to Belgium where they suffered consecutive 1-0 defeats to the hands of KRC Genk and Club Brugge in a poor display. Toulouse lost again in their first match in the Czech Republic, losing 3-1 to Bohemians 1905 after having a one goal lead early in the match.

In their final game of the pre-season, a goal in the 89th minute from Toulouse striker Wissam Ben Yedder sealed a 3-2 victory.

Injury Report

Quentin Boisgard

Suffering a thigh injury in Toulouse’s pre-season fixture against Bohemians 1905, Boisgard missed the remainder of the pre-season and will miss the first two matches of the season. Many expected the 18-year-old to go out on loan this season but Boisgard managed to earn a spot in the Toulouse first team squad after some good performances in the pre-season. It is expected that Boisgard will start on the bench for a majority of the season as Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage looks to develop him.

Cristian Pavon

Going down injured early in the pre-season match against Club Brugge with a back injury, Pavon is expected to miss the first two games of the Ligue 1 season for Toulouse. Pavon only recently joined Toulouse and will have to earn his spot in the starting side back from Brazilian Somália who is expected to start on the left wing during his absence.

Toulouse face two tough tests in their first month of the Ligue 1 season, starting their campaign against AS Saint-Etienne who managed to qualify for the Europa League by finishing 5th last season.

They then travel to face fellow relegation candidates Stade Malherbe Caen followed by a match against AS Monaco where Toulouse be hoping to pull off an upset. To finish the month, Toulouse face Stade Rennais FC at Rozahon Park.

Despite a poor pre-season, Toulouse will be hoping to get their 2015/16 campaign off to a good start as they look to improve from last year where they managed to avoid relegation by one position, finishing in 17th.

Braithwaite Heads To Torino

http://s105.photobucket.com/user/chrisgriffin89/media/aaa_zpseyq30wp1.jpg.html
Toulouse winger Martin Braithwaite is set to move to the north of Italy

• The Danish international joins from Toulouse for €4.3 million
• Braithwaite spent two years at Toulouse after leaving Esbjerg fB for €2 million
• The winger will join Torino before the start of the Serie A season

Torino have secured the services of Toulouse winger Martin Braithwaite for €4.3 million. The contact offered to Braithwaite will see him earn €24,000 per week until 2018.

“I am pleased we have managed to sign Martin, he will add a different aspect to our squad and allow us to play with more variety.” said Torino manager Giampiero Ventura. “I certainly hope his physical way of play can translate well into the Serie A.” he added.

“When the opportunity for a new challenge in the Serie A presented itself I was very interested.” said Braithwaite. “It is a league which I followed growing up and I hope I can prove to be successful at Torino.” he added.

“I am sad to see Martin leave but he came to me wanting the opportunity to take on a new challenge and the offer was good enough for us to accept.” said Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage. “I wish him luck in his move to Italy and I hope he sees nothing but success.” he added.

Braithwaite will join Torino prior to the start of the Serie A season with his first appearance expected to be against Fiorentina.
Decent fee for him. Hopefully you can use it to bring some better players in. Good luck with this.

Mixed pre season mate, and a tough start to the Ligue 1 campaign, all the best! Good signing in Pavon and good negotiating for the Braithwaite fee!

Obertan Set For Ligue 1 Return

http://s105.photobucket.com/user/chrisgriffin89/media/gabriel-obertan-884436438_zpsjvijfyhb.jpg.html
Gabriel Obertan joins Toulouse after six seasons in England

• The winger joins Toulouse from Newcastle for €1.2 million
• The Frenchman played for Manchester United and Newcastle while in England
• Obertan is expected to make his debut against AS Monaco

Toulouse have immediately replaced Martin Braithwaite who left for Torino for €4.3 million by signing Newcastle winger Gabriel Obertan for €1.2 million today. Obertan will make €34,500 per week with his contact lasting until 2018.

The pacey winger already has prior experience in Ligue 1 after starting his career with Girondins de Bordeaux as well as a loan spell with FC Lorient. Obertan would then go onto play for Manchester United for two seasons, signing for the Red Devils in 2009 for a transfer fee of €3.5 million until moving to Newcastle where he spent four seasons, making 53 apperances during his tenure at the Tyneside club.

“I am thrilled at the prospect of playing regular first team football again.” said Obertan. “I always had intentions of returning to play football in France and I am glad that Toulouse have given me that opportunity.” he added.

“Gabriel is a more than capable replacement for Martin, his experience in Ligue 1 will allow him to adjust quickly to the league as well as our style of play.” said Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage. Obertan is expected to make his debut for Toulouse in their upcoming fixture against AC Monaco.
Obertan?..... *unfollows story*

Starting the Ligue 1 season in impressive fashion, Toulouse have managed to pick up three victories in four matches in August.

In their first match, Toulouse performed poorly against AS Saint-Etienne. Despite going into half time with a one goal advantage, Toulouse conceded three goals in the second half including two goals in two minutes from Robert Beric to see AS Saint-Etienne come away with the victory.

Toulouse striker Wissam Ben Yedder put in a dominate display during their 3-2 victory over Stade Malherbe Caen, scoring two goals and providing an assist late in the second half to secure the victory.

In their most impressive performance of the month, Toulouse managed to defeat AS Monaco with a goal from William Matheus in the 81st minute giving Toulouse the victory and causing quite an upset.

The final match of the month saw a goal from Toulouse defender Uros Spajic give his side a 1-0 victory against Stade Rennais FC.

Brazilian left back William Matheus has been awarded the Player Of The Month for August after starting the season off in great form. Playing in a more advanced role than last season with Toulouse has seen Matheus create an impact in attack, providing an assist and a goal this month while being solid defensively.

The 25-year-old only played in 10 games last season for Toulouse but is expected to have a much larger role this season after starting every game in the opening month of the season.

It is no surprise to see Paris Saint-Germain sitting at the top of the Ligue 1 table with the side expected to dominate the Ligue 1 once again, winning every game so far and only conceding one goal this season.

En Avant de Guingamp and Toulouse have both show good early form, an early indication of both sides avoiding relegation this season are being expected to be amongst the contenders for going down to Ligue 2 at the start of the season.

Despite being expected to compete for the places in the European competitions, Girondins de Bordeaux, Olympique de Marseille and LOSC Lille have all started poorly in the opening fixtures.

Injury Report

The Toulouse squad currently has a clean bill of health.

Toulouse head into September with an opportunity to build on their good start as they face four sides who have all begun the Ligue 1 season in relatively poor fashion. The first match of the month for Toulouse sees them take on Stade de Reims who have only managed one point in their first four games.

Next, Toulouse face their fierce rivals in Girondins de Bordeaux followed by Olympique de Marseille with both sides expected to be competing at the top end of the table this season but find themselves sitting in 10th and 15th respectively after the first month of fixtures.

To end the month, Toulouse travel to SC Bastia, a side who currently sit in last place in the Ligue 1 after failing to manage a point in August.
Great start to Ligue 1 mate!

Disappointing start to the month with the home loss but you really pulled it round by the end! Good job.

It was certainly a month of two halves for Toulouse, losing their first two games only to turn it around and win the last two games.

In their opening fixture of September, both teams fought out a very even contest but Toulouse failed to convert their chances, a problem which Stade de Reims did not have as they ran away with a 2-0 victory.

Next up, Toulouse travelled to faced rivals Girondins de Bordeaux in a physical affair, both sides were unable to find the back of the net as the game entered injury time until Henri Saivet managed to get onto the end of a cross from Milan Gajic to steal the three points and send their fans into raptures.

The struggling Olympique de Marseille travelled to Stadium Municipal and got away to a 2-0 lead but the day would belong to Cristian Pavon who announced his arrival scoring a hat-trick in a dominant display as Toulouse came away with a 4-2 victory.

In the final match of the month, Toulouse faced last placed SC Bastia with a goal in the 31st minute from Wissam Ben Yedder sealing the win.

Despite good performances from Gabriel Obertan and Cristian Pavon it was William Matheus who won the Player Of The Month once again after continuing on with his terrific form so far this season.

His best performance of the month came against Olympique de Marseille, providing two assists in a 4-2 victory as well as being considered the best player on the pitch in the 1-0 loss to rivals Girondins de Bordeaux.

So far this season, William Matheus has been able to make vital interceptions which has seen him making a tremendous impact for Toulouse.

Paris Saint-Germain remain at the top of the Ligue 1 with AS Saint-Etienne and Olympique Lyonnais in pursuit. Toulouse have maintained forth position and continued their impressive start to the season.

Olympique de Marseille and LOSC Lille continue to struggle with both managers beginning to have media pressure placed upon them despite only being eight games into the season.

Toulouse have been drawn to face rivals Montpellier HSC in their first fixture in the Coupe de la Ligue this season, fans would have been hoping for a match against a Ligue 2 side this early in the competition but will be happy to have the chance at defeating their rival.

At the start of October, Toulouse face two relegation candidates in GFC Ajaccio and Angers SCO before facing Olympique Lyonnais who will go into the match at Stade de Gerland as heavy favourites.

To end the month, Toulouse is set to face Montpellier HSC twice in four days with fans from both sides excited to face their rivals in such circumstances. Montpellier have been in poor form over the past month and will be looking to build their form back up through the rivalry.
Great start to the season mate! Shame to see Marseille in the relegation zone though :(
