Ben Yedder Becomes Leading Toulouse Scorer

http://s105.photobucket.com/user/chrisgriffin89/media/ben_yedder_zpsdtemldsh.jpg.html
Wissam Ben Yedder is now the leading goal scorer in Toulouse history

• Ben Yedder has been at Toulouse for seven seasons, scoring 92 goals
• The 26-year-old has managed to score 24 goals in 28 games so far this season
• The record was previously held by Pierre Dorsini who scored 90 goals for Toulouse

In front of 16.518 fans at Stadium Municipal, Toulouse striker Wissam Ben Yedder broke the all-time Toulouse goal scoring record set by Pierre Dorsini who scored a total of 90 goals while playing for Toulouse between 1957 and 1967.

A foul from Valenciennes player Opa N’Guette on Toulouse captain Abel Aguilar in the box saw a penalty awarded to Toulouse. Ben Yedder stepped up to the spot and converted to see him break the goal scoring record. The match would end in a 2-2 draw with Ben Yedder scoring again, finishing the match with a brace.

Starting his career with UJA Paris-Alfortville (now known as UJA Maccabi Paris Metropole), Ben Yedder moved to Toulouse on a free for the 2010/11 season. Ben Yedder has since spent seven seasons with the club, scoring 92 goals in 178 appearances and winning the French Cup and the French Champions Trophy in 2016.

A number of teams across Europe are interested in the services of Ben Yedder, Toulouse have turned down bids from West Ham and SL Benfica. For the rest of the January transfer window, it is expected that Ben Yedder will continue to draw interest but Toulouse remain confident of keeping him at the club.

“There have been a few offers from other clubs but right now I am just focused on performing for Toulouse.” said Ben Yedder. “I am proud of the recent success we have achieved and I hope that we can continue to build and improve on that success.” he added

The next match for Toulouse sees them take on Stade Rennais in the Coupe de la Ligue Semi Final on the 25th of January.
Just caught up on your story after a few days away. You are doing amazing man!

Toulouse

Key Player: Wissam Ben Yedder
Leading Scorer: Wissam Ben Yedder (24)
Recent Form: XWLWW
Injuries: Dany Maury
Suspensions: Tiemoue Bakayoko

Heading into the Coupe de la Ligue Semi Final, Toulouse will be without new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko after he was suspended after the Ligue 1 fixture against Valenciennes FC earlier in the week. Toulouse have not lost to Stade Rennais in their last four matches, coming away with three wins and a draw including a 1-0 victory in the French Cup Final last season.

“We have been performing very well so far this season but our early elimination in the French Cup was incredibly disappointing, especially considering we won the competition last season.” said Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage. “Our elimination from the French Cup will see us concentrate on the Coupe de la Ligue and hopefully we can bring the trophy back to Toulouse for the first time in the history of the club.” he added.

-----

Stade Rennais

Key Player: Ola Toivonen
Leading Scorer: Admir Mehmedi (11)
Recent Form: WWWWW
Injuries: Romain Danze, Fallou Diagne, Admir Mehmedi & Steeve Yago
Suspensions: N/A

Stade Rennais will go into the French Cup final rematch with Toulouse missing four players through injury. Amongst those four players are leading goalscorer Admir Mehmedi, fellow starter Romain Danze and Steeve Yago who is currently on loan from Toulouse and would be available to play in the match if he was fit due to a clause in the loan contract.

“We have not performed well against Toulouse in recent history, our squad wants nothing more than to set the record straight.” said Stade Rennais manager Philippe Montanier. “We have hit a great streak of form recently and hopefully we can continue it will a victory over Toulouse.” he added.
The absence of Mehmedi will be a big deciding factor!

Stade Rennais Reach Coupe De La Ligue Final

A goal from Paul-Georges Ntep was the difference as Stade Rennais defeated Toulouse
Stade Rennais 1 - 0 Toulouse

Achieving revenge for their defeat in the French Cup Final, Stade Rennais defeated Toulouse 1-0, eliminating them from the Coupe de la Ligue. Appearing to ease into the match, both sides started off slowly until Toulose captain Abel Aguilar received a yellow card for a foul on Stade Rennais defender Benjamin Andre.

After the foul, Stade Rennais would take control of the match and began to create opportunities until Kamil Grosicki would find an unmarked Paul-Georges Ntep with a cross in the 26th minute to give Stade Rennais a lead which they managed to maintain for the rest of the half

Coming back from half time, Toulouse created a few opportunities but failed to take advantage with Wissam Ben Yedder uncharacteristically struggling to find the net, leading to his substation for Kelechi Iheanacho in the 71st minute. The change would not have any effect as Stade Rennais would go on to win the match and pick up their first win against Toulouse since their 5-0 victory back in the 2013/14 season.

The other semi-final saw Stade de Reims upset Paris Saint-Germain in a penalty shoot-out, advancing to the Coupe de la Ligue final which is set to take place at the Stade de France on Saturday the 22nd of April.
Damn dude that must have stung. At least no P$G in the final.

Tough luck there, would have been a nice final to make given PSG's misfortune! :D
1
Ahhhh man that sucks dude, at least you can really concentrate and make sure you win Ligue 1 now though! Keep your head held high!
