Despite losing to Dynamo Kyiv in their first fixture of the month, Toulouse put together a perfect month during March. After the loss, Toulouse defeated OGC Nice and then went on to even the score with Dynamo Kyiv, advancing to the next round of the UEFA Europa League by defeating them 3-1 at Stadium Municipal, winning the tie 4-3 overall.

Toulouse finished out the month flawlessly, defeating Girondins de Bordeuax 3-0 with Wissam Ben Yedder collecting a brace followed by a 2-0 victory over FC Nantes in which Cristian Pavon also managed to collected a brace.


After struggling for most of the season, Cristian Pavon has found form and in doing so has been awarded the Player Of The Month award for March. Pavon played five games this month, contributing with two goals and an assist, putting in terrific performances in the final two fixtures of the month against Girondins de Bordeaux and FC Nantes.

Numerous rumours have been circling throughout the season, linking Pavon to a move to Portugal with clubs such as S.L. Benfica and FC Porto showing interest. Since signing for Toulouse at the start of last season, Pavon has made 82 appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals and providing 14 assists.


Toulouse have dramatically increased their lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table, finding themselves only a few points away from claiming the Ligue 1 title. A number of sides below Toulouse find themselves in position to claim spots in the European competitions.

The three sides which were promoted from Ligue 2 last season find themselves in the relegation zone but all three are capable of avoiding relegation as a number of teams are find themselves close to the the relegation zone. Historically, reaching 40 points is enough to secure safety from relegation in Ligue 1.


The UEFA Europa League Quarter Final draw sees Toulouse face A.C. Milan with the first leg set to take place at Stadium Municipal on the 13th of April. Despite A.C. Milan clearly being the side with more financial capabilities, pundits believe the odds are around even in regards to who will be progressing to the semi-final stage.

A.C. Milan finished on top of Group I and defeated Koln and Spartak Moscow so far in the UEFA Europa League campaign and find themselves sitting in 7th position in the Serie A.

Toulouse started well in April, claiming a dominant 4-0 victory over FC Lorient with Wissam Ben Yedder and Oscar Trejo both completing a brace. After a draw against Racing Club de Lens, a match winning goal from Kelechi Iheanacho in the 85th minute saw Toulouse defeat Paris Saint-Germain.

In the UEFA Europa League first leg at Stadium Municipal, A.C. Milan picked up the victory over Toulouse, scoring a vital three away goals in the process. Toulouse then lost to LOSC Lille before winning the UEFA Europa League second leg, only to lose the fixture overall on away goals.

Despite going down a player after the dismissal of Maxime Gonalons for a poor challenge, Olympique Lyonnais defeated Toulouse 2-0 in the final fixture of the month.


Continuing his impressive season, Gabriel Obertan managed to contribute with two goals and three assists in seven games during April. Obertan has been at Toulouse for two years and has reignited his career, putting in incredible performances for Le TFC.

It is believed there is set to be some interest in Obertan coming from England as well as other clubs in France. It will be interesting to see how Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage deals with the approaches from other clubs for Obertan.


Toulouse require just one point in their final three matches of the season in order to claim the Ligue 1 title with Olympique Lyonnais also needing one point to seal second place. The remaining spots in the European competitions remain up for grabs with a number of teams still capable of finishing in the places below Toulouse and Olympique Lyonnais.

At the bottom of the table, Valenciennes are likely to go down to Ligue 2 next season, remaining only a slight mathematical chance of staying up. FC Metz have found form of late but are still favoured to go down while Racing Club de Lens and ESTAC Troyes battle it out in order to secure survival.


After an incredible run in the UEFA Europa League, Toulouse lost to A.C. Milan on away goals to be eliminated from the competition. It is not all bad news for Toulouse as based on their performance in Ligue 1 this season, they will be competing in the UEFA Champions League next season.
