Very disappointing to have gone out on away goals but Champions League next year and a Ligue 1 title, think that's the least of your worries :P
A harsh way to be knocked out of Europe, but at least the league looks like it is wrapped up now!

Toulouse fans celebrate as their team defeats Stade Malherbe Caen to win the Ligue 1 title

• For the first time in their 47-year history, Toulouse have won the Ligue 1 title
• Cristian Pavon sealed the title for Toulouse, scoring the winning goal in the 90th minute
• Toulouse will play in the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2007-08 season

Despite two games being left in the season, Toulouse have claimed the Ligue 1 title after they defeated Stade Malherbe Caen 2-0 at Stadium Municipal to be crowned champions for the first time in the history of the club in front of their adoring fans.

Both sides started the match out at a slow tempo before Oscar Trejo scored just before half time, heading home a cross from Pavle Ninkov to give Toulouse the lead heading into the break. After half time, Stade Malherbe Caen equalised when Gaetan Charbonnier hit a terrific volley past Predrag Rajkovic.

The match was turned on his head after Toulouse captain Abel Aguilar was sent off after a second yellow card in the 73rd minute. Stade Malherbe Caen piled on the pressure as they looked to take the lead only for Jordan Adeoti to be sent off in the 86th minute for the away side, leaving both sides down a player. A draw would be enough for Toulouse to secure the title but the Toulouse fans only began their celebrations after Cristian Pavon scored from a Pavle Ninkov cross in the 90th minute to seal the victory and the Ligue 1 title for Toulouse.

“I started with Toulouse as a player in 1992 and dreamed of winning the Ligue 1 every day I spent with the club since and to finally achieve my dream over two decades later… the feeling is surreal.” said Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage. “All the credit should be given to the players, they fought like warriors in every single match and without that attitude we would not be celebrating today.” he added.

Next season, Toulouse will have a tough task in defending their title with Paris Saint-Germain likely to spend a large amount of money in order to regain their position at the top of French football. Toulouse will also have to contend with fixtures in the UEFA Champions League, entering the competition in the group stage. The dreams of Toulouse fans imagining their club facing high calibre sides such as Barcelona and Bayern Munich could now become reality as they already begin to save money for potential upcoming fixtures against the best clubs in world football.

Dominique Arribage has transformed Toulouse from relegation candidates into champions

• Arribage is set to earn €13,000 per week for next three years
• The Frenchman played 291 games for Toulouse during his football career
• Toulouse claimed the Ligue 1 title for the first time in the history of the club this season

After his recent success in winning the Ligue 1 title, Dominique Arribage has extended his contract with Toulouse for another three years. Arribage will earn €13,000 per week for the duration of his contract. The 46-year-old started his management career with Toulouse in 2015 after representing Toulouse on 291 occasions as a player.

“I have spent fifteen years of my life dedicated to this football club and I have no reason to bring that to an end.” said Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage. “I would like to stay at the club I love for my entire management career but my passion will not keep me employed, to stay employed I must continue to develop the club in all areas.” he added.

“We have enjoyed incredible success in the past two years and it was vital that Dominique’s contact was extended for the best interests of everyone involved with the club.” said Toulouse Chairman Olivier Sadran. “There was never any danger of losing Dominique to another club but after everything the club has achieved he deserved to be rewarded with a new contract.” he added.

Moving forward, Arribage will continue to face new challenges heading into next season, preparing for the UEFA Champions League in the first time in his management career.
Brilliant news mate, just hope that you can make an impact in the Champions League and keep up the form in Ligue 1 this season!
