Dortmund Midfielder Moves To France
Julian Weigl has moved to France looking to find first team football with Toulouse

• Toulouse have secured the transfer of Julian Weigl for €15.25 million
• The 22-year-old spent six seasons with Munchen Lions before moving to Borussia Dortmund
• The German struggled to secure first team football leading him to put in a transfer request

After struggling to find first team football at Borussia Dortmund last season, Julian Weigl is set to play in Ligue 1 after securing a transfer to Toulouse. Dortmund will receive a transfer fee of €15.25 million with the 22-year-old set to earn €40,000 per week during his time at the club.

Starting his career with Munchen Lions, Weigl moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2015 where he made thirty-nine appearances in his first season. Next season, Weigl made only two appearances for Dortmund leading him to put in a transfer request and eventually seal a move to Toulouse.

“Julian is an incredible talent, I am thrilled to be able to bring him to the club for the upcoming season.” said Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage. “I hope he is able to make an instant impact for the club and go on to have a great career in football.” he added.

“Leaving Borussia Dortmund is incredibly difficult but a move to another club is what is best for my footballing career right now.” said Weigl. “I am looking forward to meeting up with the squad and begin training as we prepare for the new season.” he added.

Weigl is set to replace departing Toulouse vice-captain Etienne Didot who recently moved to Israel to play for Maccabi Tel-Aviv. His presence will add depth to a Toulouse midfield which manager Dominique Arribage has looked to strengthen since bringing in Tiemoue Bakayoko during the January transfer window last season.
Weigl is always a class act for me. Hope he will be for you. Regular German Int. in my save . Currently stands at 60 games in 29 years. Any chance of an ss of his profile?
Very nice pick up mate, reckon he'll be a star in your title defence!
Excellent pick up
Weigl could become a future top player, it's great to see him at Toulouse!
Great signing! Weigl is a top player and I'm sure he'll do a great job for you.

Mammana Named New Toulouse Captain
Toulouse head into the new season with a new captain in Emanuel Mammana

• Emanuel Mammana has been appointed as Toulouse captain, replacing Abel Aguilar.
• The 21-year-old has made 65 appearances so far in his time with Toulouse
• Predrag Rajkovic has been appointed vice-captain after the departure of Etienne Didot

Emanuel Mammana has been appointed as Toulouse captain, replacing Abel Aguilar. The selection of the 21-year-old comes as a shock because of the defenders age as well as only being at the club for two seasons.

Despite the doubts about the appointment, Mammana has already been capped three times for Argentina, making his debut on the 7th of June 2014 against Slovenia and appears to be destined for big things in his football career.

“Anyone who has seen Emanuel at training knows exactly why he has been appointed captain.” said Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage. “Emanuel leads by example every single day and is respected by everyone at the club, he is the perfect person to lead our young side.” he added.

“It’s an honour to be named captain of Toulouse.” said Mammana. “I understand there will be high expectations placed on my shoulders after everything we achieved last season, I believe I am capable of thriving under the pressure.” he added.

In other news, Toulouse goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic has been appointed vice-captain after the departure of Etienne Didot to Maccabi Tel-Aviv.
Very nice, easy read. This is a very strong effort. Following and enjoying.
Good call. Thats the armband sorted for the next 10 years!
Fantastic signing in Weigl mate, and in Mammana you could have the club captain for years to come, I'm thinking Steven Gerrard at Liverpool length!
Hopefully Mammana makes a fantastic captain in the future!
Would love him to stay at the club a long time now to lead you to all sorts of titles!

Preparing for the upcoming season, Toulouse travelled to Asia to take on clubs from South Korea and China. Toulouse performed well in the first four games, leaving South Korea with three wins and a draw with the best individual performance coming from Kelechi Iheanacho who claimed a hat-trick during the match against Daegu FC.

Next up, Toulouse travelled to China and put together some terrific performances. Toulouse managed to score over four goals in each game with the new faces amongst the squad looking much more comfortable amongst their new teammates.

Injury Report

Loic Bessile

Bessile went down with a knee injury while training on the pre-season tour of South Korea and China, the injury was later diagnosed as knee tendonitis which is expected to keep him out for two to three months

Toulouse are set to play for the Champions Trophy against AS Saint-Etienne to open the season before going on to face rivals Montpellier HSC in their first Ligue 1 fixture of the season. Next, they face two more tough fixtures against OGC Nice and Stade Rennais FC who finished fifth and third respectively last season.

The final two matches of the month for Toulouse are a touch easier as they face En Avant de Guingamp and FC Metz in consecutive home fixtures at Stadium Municipal.
Strong per-season mate, the squad looks ready to roll!
Some good results in pre-season mate! Morale should be high and everyone ready to begin your title defence!
