A goal in extra time from M’Baye Niang saw Toulouse defeat a 10-man FC Nantes

Toulouse 1 - 0 FC Nantes

Heading into the match as heavy favourites, Toulouse struggled despite FC Nantes being down to ten players for a majority of the second half, it took Toulouse until the final minutes of extra time to come away with victory.

The match started in an intense fashion with a number of hard challenges from both sides despite Toulouse controlling most of the play in the first half. FC Nantes player Lucas Deaux given a yellow card late in the half for a harsh challenge as both sides went into half time without scoring.

Early on in the second half, Deaux received a second yellow card to see him dismissed in the 47th minute. Despite holding the advantage and producing a number of chances, Toulouse failed to get shots on target to see the match go into extra time.

Continuing to display dominance, Toulouse were unable to convert any of their opportunities in extra time until the 119th minute when Abel Aguilar was able to present M’Baye Niang with a chance which he blasted past the keeper to give his side the victory.

“We played poorly today but the boys stuck to the task and managed to come away with a victory.” said Toulouse captain Emanuel Mammana. “Improvement is a must, we will look to put the effort in on the training pitch and do our best to ensure that we are the side leaving with the trophy.” he added.

Toulouse now advance to the French Cup final where they will face the winner of the semi-final between AS Saint-Etienne and FC Lorient. The French Cup final is set to be held at Stade de France on the 19th of May.
That's a massive win, onto the final!
Solid result hopefully you'll win the final as well.
COME ON YOU CAN DO IT!
Into the final mate, well done, just gotta bring the trophy home again now!

Toulouse claimed consecutive Ligue 1 victories to begin the month, defeating US Orleans and Olympique Marseille before eliminating FC Nantes from the French Cup and advancing to the final. In the final match of the month, a 2-1 loss to Stade de Reims proved the end of the Ligue 1 title aspirations of Toulouse.

Continuing his unbelievable form, Oscar Trejo has been named the Player of the Month for Toulouse for the third month in a row. In a team full of individuals who continue to perform to a very high standard, Trejo remains above them all this season.

After his incredible performances, Trejo is expected to win the Player of the Season award for Toulouse for the third year in a row with William Matheus expected to be his only competition for the award.

Paris Saint-Germain have claimed their seventh Ligue 1 title after defeating Dijon FCO in the final fixture of the month. This sees Toulouse unable to move up or down the Ligue 1 table with two fixtures remaining, sealing second place in the competition.

The remaining places in the European competitions will be decided in the final fixtures of the competition with Olympique Lyonnais, Olympique Marseille and AS Monaco all capable of finishing as high as third or as low as fifth.

US Orleans will be playing in Ligue 2 next season with FC Metz favourites to join them although En Avant de Guingamp still a mathematical possibility to go down instead.

Toulouse have advanced to the final of the French Cup after a 1-0 victory over FC Nantes in extra time. They are set to face FC Lorient in the final which will be played on the 19th of May at Stade de France.

Injury Report

Wissam Ben Yedder

Suffering a twisted ankle during a 2-1 victory over Olympique Marseille, Wissam Ben Yedder missed the rest of the month through injury. Ben Yedder is more than likely to be available for the first fixture of the month for Toulouse against LOSC Lille.

Dimitri Foulquier

After injuring his back during a training session, Dimitri Foulquier is expected to be out for one to two weeks. Foulquier may not play another Ligue 1 fixture for the remainder of the season but is expected to be fit for the French Cup Final against FC Lorient.

In the final two fixtures of the Ligue 1 season, Toulouse are expected to rest a large number of first team players for the French Cup final with the club unable to move either up or down on the Ligue 1 table.

Their first fixture will see them face LOSC Lille before meeting rivals Montpellier HSC at Stadium Municipal to end the season.
Shame on losing the title.....hopefully you will avenge your fans in the final!

Shame about the title mate but at least you've still got CL football and a cup final to look forward to!

Playing in two dead rubbers to finish the season, a Luiz Adriano equaliser in the dying minutes saw Toulouse draw with LOSC Lille before finishing the season with a 2-2 draw against rivals Montpellier HSC in which Wissam Ben Yedder collected a brace.

After putting together an impressive first season at Toulouse, M’Baye Niang has finished the year strongly by being named Player of the Month for May. In the final two games of the season, Niang managed to provide three assists as well as putting the opposition under consistent pressure every minute he was on the field.

Niang finished the season with eleven goals and eighteen assists across all competitions and he will be a key player in the French Cup final for Toulouse when they go up against FC Lorient.

After two draws to finish their Ligue 1 campaign, Toulouse have finished nine points behind Paris Saint-Germain to finish the season. Olympique Lyonnais have finished above Olympique Marseille to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

AS Monaco will be hoping that Toulouse defeat FC Lorient in the French Cup final in order to qualify for the UEFA Europa League, despite the result it is believed that AS Monaco manager Safet Susic is under pressure after failing to live up to expectations placed on him at the start of the season.

FC Metz will join Angers SCO and US Orleans in Ligue 2 next season with Angers SCO incredibly finishing above US Orleans despite only winning three games all season. Tours FC, Havre Athletic Club and AS Nancy Lorraine are set to move up to Ligue 1 next season while Clermont Foot missed out on promotion by a single point.

Toulouse go into the French Cup final against FC Lorient as heavy favourites although many pundits believe that FC Lorient striker Majeed Waris will be a constant threat to the Toulouse defence after proving to be a consistent threat on goal throughout the year.

The Toulouse squad currently has a clean bill of health.
Damn, shame about the two draws in the last two games...will the French Cup final be your last game at Toulouse? ;)
