Tough Group Awaits Toulouse In Europe

http://s105.photobucket.com/user/chrisgriffin89/media/champions_league_zpssfyyj43p.jpg.html
Toulouse will be hoping to replicate their previous success in the UEFA Champions League

• Toulouse have been drawn alongside Juventus, Zenit St Petersburg and Olympiakos
• Juventus lost the final of the competition to Chelsea in a penalty shootout last season
• The UEFA Champions League final is set to be played at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium

After a successful UEFA Champions League campaign last season, Toulouse will be hoping to replicate their success as they head into the new season. Toulouse have been drawn in Group F where they will face Juventus, Zenit St Petersburg and Olympiakos.

Considered one of the favourites to win the competition, Juventus will be looking to go one step better than last season where they lost to Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League Final. During the summer transfer window, Juventus have signed Milan Gajic, Samuel Umtiti and Victor Lindelof in order to strengthen their squad.

Zenit St Petersburg find themselves without competition in the Russian Premier League, winning the competition for the past four seasons and therefore find themselves totally focused on the UEFA Champions League. The success of the club has been due to a majority of the squad remain at the club for a long period of time but Zenit St Petersburg manager Christian Ziege may need to look to bring some new players in soon with those players now coming towards the end of their careers.

Regarded as the underdog of the group, Olympiakos will still pose a serious threat to the other teams in Group F with the Greek side being crowned league champions for the past eight seasons. Their consistent success allows them to be completely focused on the UEFA Champions League just like Zenit St Petersburg heading into the new season.

In the opening fixtures of Group F, Toulouse will face Zenit St Petersburg at Stadium Municipal while Juventus are set to take on Olympiakos at Karaiskakis Stadium. The final of the UEFA Champions League this season is set to be played in Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Tough group mate. Your first game with Zenit could be very important. Good luck.

That's a very tough group but you've proved yourself capable of mixing with the big boys so don't doubt you will find a way through it!

Ouch, every home game matters in this group! Real group of death this

Toulouse started the season with a 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, their first loss against the club in the past nine fixtures. In the next two fixtures, Cristian Pavon led Toulouse to two dominant performances over En Avant de Guingamp and Stade Rennais.

In a poor performance, Toulouse managed to get past Havre Athletic Club with a 1-0 victory when they managed to score in the final minute of injury time. The final match of the month saw a goal from Wissam Ben Yedder prove the difference as Toulouse defeated rivals Girondins de Bordeaux.

Continuing his good from discovered towards the end of last season, Cristian Pavon has managed to find consistency in his game which has allowed him to be regarded as one of the most dangerous players in Ligue 1.

Toulouse have kept Pavon at the club despite receiving astronomical bids from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund during the summer transfer window. Should he continue his early season form, the interest in his services is sure to continue.

Starting the season in good form, Toulouse find themselves at the top of the Ligue 1 table alongside Paris Saint-Germain. FC Nantes sit in third, getting off to a terrific start to the season and seeing their fans begin to dream of a Ligue 1 campaign similar to their efforts during 2015/16 season.

Expected title contenders AS Monaco have gotten off to a poor start to the season alongside recently promoted Tours FC who have only one point from their first four matches to see them sitting in last place.

After being drawn in a relatively tough group, Toulouse will open their UEFA Champions League campaign in a match against Zenit St Petersburg which is set to be played at Stadium Municipal.

Injury Report

The Toulouse squad currently has a clean bill of health.

Despite having no fixtures in the first half of the month, Toulouse find themselves with a heavy schedule in September. Toulouse start the month with an away fixture against relegation contenders Dijon FCO before playing in their first UEFA Champions League fixture against Zenit St Petersburg at Stadium Municipal.

Next up, Toulouse play three straight Ligue 1 fixtures starting with a match against Stade Malherbe Caen followed by a fixture against OGC Nice. In their final fixture of the month, Toulouse face expected title contenders AS Monaco at Stade Louis II.
Great start to the season so far, PSG righr on your tail though so you gotta keep it up.

Looks like a straight shoutout for second place in your champions league group aswell
Reasonable fixtures either side of the Zenit game mate, should make fielding your strongest possible 11 much easier & getting the all important result. Good luck!
Great start despite that loss to PSG at the start! As for that CL group, you're more than good enough to get through :D
A good month there mate, shame about the PSG result but hardly something to be down heartened about :)
Nice start to the season. Paris Saint Germain looking good to start so will have to have a good season
PSG taking the ascendancy already but you will pull it back!

Playing their first fixture in the middle of September due to the international break, Toulouse had to wait until injury time to seal victory against Dijon FCO with Lucas Leiva hitting an incredible strike from the edge of the box to win the game.

Despite a brace from Hulk, Toulouse defeated Zenit St Petersburg in their opening UEFA Champions League fixture followed by a dominant 3-0 victory over Stade Malherbe Caen. In the final two matches of the month, Toulouse defeated OGC Nice and AS Monaco to see the club complete a perfect month of results.

After arriving at Toulouse on loan from Chelsea at the start of the season, Victor Moses has made an instant impact at the club to see him named the Player of the Month for September. Moses contributed with two goals and two assists in four games during the month.

Despite struggling to secure regular first team football during the past few seasons, the 27-year-old appears to have not missed a step during this period. Proving a constant threat due to his overall physical ability, should the Nigerian international be able to sustain his current form he will prove to be a difficult challenge to handle for any team he faces.

Paris Saint-Germain have performed well during September to see them maintain their lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table. Toulouse find themselves three points behind the leaders with only the fixture between the two sides at the start of the season separating the two sides..

A number of teams find themselves playing above expectations with Stade Rennais, LOSC Lille and FC Nantes all getting off to a good start to the season while expected title contenders AS Monaco find themselves sitting mid-table two months into the competition.

At the bottom of the table, a number of sides find themselves grouped together with no clear relegation contender appearing early in the season.

After Toulouse defeated Zenit St Petersburg they find themselves sitting on top of Group F with Olympiakos securing a 0-0 draw against Juventus. In October, the sides will all play two more games to give a true indication of each teams standing within the group.

M’Baye Niang

In the final match of September against AS Monaco, M’Baye Niang suffered a shoulder injury which will see him out of action for a month. It is expected that Serge Gnarby will step up in place of Niang in the meantime.

Toulouse kick off October with a UEFA Champions League fixture against Juventus followed by a Ligue 1 fixture against AS Saint-Etienne. After the international break, Toulouse face recently promoted Tours FC and then take on Olympiakos in the UEFA Champions League at Stadium Municipal.

To finish the month, Toulouse take on another recently promoted side in AS Nancy Lorraine in a home fixture.
100% month, well done bro!!
Great month and great start to the Champions League campaign! More success is coming your way I think!
What an amazing month! Still very early on so a nice lead on PSG sooner or later would do you a little good ;)
