Toulouse will be hoping to replicate their previous success in the UEFA Champions League
• Toulouse have been drawn alongside Juventus, Zenit St Petersburg and Olympiakos
• Juventus lost the final of the competition to Chelsea in a penalty shootout last season
• The UEFA Champions League final is set to be played at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium
After a successful UEFA Champions League campaign last season, Toulouse will be hoping to replicate their success as they head into the new season. Toulouse have been drawn in Group F where they will face Juventus, Zenit St Petersburg and Olympiakos.
Considered one of the favourites to win the competition, Juventus will be looking to go one step better than last season where they lost to Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League Final. During the summer transfer window, Juventus have signed Milan Gajic, Samuel Umtiti and Victor Lindelof in order to strengthen their squad.
Zenit St Petersburg find themselves without competition in the Russian Premier League, winning the competition for the past four seasons and therefore find themselves totally focused on the UEFA Champions League. The success of the club has been due to a majority of the squad remain at the club for a long period of time but Zenit St Petersburg manager Christian Ziege may need to look to bring some new players in soon with those players now coming towards the end of their careers.
Regarded as the underdog of the group, Olympiakos will still pose a serious threat to the other teams in Group F with the Greek side being crowned league champions for the past eight seasons. Their consistent success allows them to be completely focused on the UEFA Champions League just like Zenit St Petersburg heading into the new season.
In the opening fixtures of Group F, Toulouse will face Zenit St Petersburg at Stadium Municipal while Juventus are set to take on Olympiakos at Karaiskakis Stadium. The final of the UEFA Champions League this season is set to be played in Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
