Opening the month in impressive fashion, Toulouse defeated Stade Malherbe Caen by two goals and then continued their form defeating SC Bastia with Wissam Ben Yedder claiming a hat-trick in the 5-2 victory.

After a very poor display against FC Lorient, Toulouse progressed through to the French Cup final after defeating SC Bastia after a Wissam Ben Yedder brace. To finish the month, Toulouse drew with Olympique Lyonnais.


Gabriel Obertan has continued his form in the second half of the season and has been named the Player Of The Month after scoring two goals and providing five assists in five games in April.

Obertan joined Toulouse at the start of the season for €1.2 million after Martin Braithwaite moved to Torino for €4.3 million, proving to be a great piece of business from Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage.


Paris Saint-Germain have won the Ligue 1 title for the fourth time in a row and the sixth time in the hstory of the club. This sees Paris Saint-Germain complete a treble after also winning the Coupe De La Ligue and Champions Trophy earlier in the season.

The high flying FC Nantes and Stade Rennais FC will play in the UEFA Champions League next season. A number of sides are still battling to see who qualifies for the UEFA Europa League, Toulouse may have an effect on this if they manage to win the French Cup.

In the relegation zone, both GFC Ajaccio and SC Bastia will be playing in the Ligue 2 next season. The final spot in the relegation looks likely to go down to the final day with a number of sides capable of going down.

Valenciennes FC have won the Ligue 2, earning promotion to the Ligue 1 next season. Below them, there are eight sides who could take the final two spots depending on results.


Toulouse are set to face Stade Rennais FC in the final of the French Cup after they defeated AJ Auxerre 3-0. In their two fixtures this season, Toulouse came away with a 1-0 victory in their first match followed by a 2-2 draw in the return fixture.

Toulouse have won the French Cup once in 1957 with Stade Rennais FC winning it twice in 1965 and 1971. The final is set to take place at the Stade de France on Saturday the 21st of May.


In the final month of the season, Toulouse face a relatively easy ending to the Ligue 1. First they face the underachieving AS Saint-Etienne with their final matches against ESTAC Troyes and Angers SCO with both teams currently positioned in the lower half of the table. Toulouse will be hoping to find their way into the top six in order to qualify for European football next season.

Lastly, Toulouse travel to the Stade de France to face Stade Rennais FC in the final of the French Cup. If Toulouse win the tournament it will be the second time the club has lifted the trophy after winning the competition in 1957, they will also qualify for the UEFA Europa League should they win.

Toulouse ended the season in incredible form, claiming three wins for three matches. A stellar performance from Gabriel Obertan in which he provided two assists saw Toulouse claim a 3-1 victory over AS Saint-Etienne.

Next, Toulouse defeated ESTAC Troyes 3-0 with Oscar Trejo collecting a brace. In their final Ligue 1 match of the season, Toulouse put Angers SCO to the sword coming away with a 3-0 victory in a dominant display.


Despite impressive performances from Gabriel Obertan and Toulouse captain Abel Aguilar, Serbian defender Pavle Ninkov has won the Player Of The Month award for May.

Ninkov found himself out of the first team squad the first half of the season behind Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro who was one of the form players for Toulouse. In the January transfer window, Benfica signed Akpa-Akpro and Ninkov found himself in the starting side, a position he has refused to let go since.

Playing in 16 games this season, Ninkov has provided six assists and his added experience in a relatively young side should not be undervalued in the return to form shown by Toulouse at the end of the season.


Paris Saint-Germain managed to win the Ligue 1 title last month but celebrated winning the competition in their final match of the season, defeating FC Nantes 5-2 at Parc des Princes. OGC Nice missed out on European football after FC Lorient and Toulouse managed to win their final matches to seal their places in the top six.

A number of teams have sacked their managers at the end of the season, Olympique Lyonnais will be searching for a new manager after Hubert Fournier failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
AS Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim was let go after not securing a place in the UEFA Europa League, it is believed that AS Monaco are looking to bring in Real Madrid icon Fernando Hierro to take charge of the club.

At the bottom end of the table, Olympique Marseille find themselves relegated in an incredible shock. Rene Girard has been let go as manager of the club with Olympique Marseille set to face a number of players looking to leave the club. SC Bastia will also have another manager as they prepare for life in Ligue 2, letting go of Juan Carlos Mandia despite only being hired in January.

Racing Club de Lens and FC Metz join Valenciennes FC in being promoted from the Ligue 2 with all three sides already looking to the transfer market to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season.


Heading into the French Cup final, Toulouse have no injuries and will have a full squad to select from. Stade Rennais FC do not find themselves quite so lucky, missing a number of players due to injury as well as Gelson Fernandes being suspended for the match.

After a successful season, Toulouse will qualify for the UEFA Europa League regardless of the result in the French Cup final. Just like every year, the winner of the French Cup final will qualify for the competition but should Toulouse lose the match they will qualify for the competition after finishing sixth with Stade Rennais having already qualified for European football. Should they win the French Cup however they will progress straight to the group stage, if they don’t they will be required to go through the qualifiers.

Toulouse find themselves with an injury free squad, something which they have maintained for a majority of the season and will find themselves at an advantage in this area against Stade Rennais.

“Our club has performed terrifically all season long and winning this competition would be the perfect ending.” said Toulouse manager Dominique Arribage. “I really hope for both the players and the fans that we are able to bring the French Cup back to Toulouse.” he added.


Heading into the French Cup final, Stade Rennais have already achieved well above expectations this season. After finishing third in the Ligue 1 this season, Stade Rennais have qualified to play in the UEFA Champions League next season.

They will play the French Cup final missing a number of players through injury but their biggest lost ahead of the match is the suspension of Gelson Fernandes, the midfielder has been one of the keys to their success this season.

“We go into the final missing a few players but still full of confidence.” said Stade Rennais manager Philippe Montanier. “After the season we have had, we have no reason to believe that any achievement is outside of our grasp.” he added.
