My Frist Champions League match

Well today is my first ever match managing in Champions League and I am very excited to get a chance to manage in such an amazing competition. I believe this club is ready and will hopefully turn some heads this. We have been preparing for FC Levadia Tallinn ever since the draw was announced. I think we got lucky being the away club first. Anyways here is my Champions League debut

The Match
Kadriorg Stadium,Tallinn Estonia
UEFA Champions League
second qualifying round: Leg 1

0' HJK kickoff the match and we are underway

3' GOAL!!! Juho Hiltunen (HJK) scores the first goal of the match

6' Robert Mihhailov (Levida) receives first yellow card of the match and HJK are awareded a free kick

33' Mihhailov (Levida) makes a big mistake and gives HJK a two goal lead

45+1" The referee blows for the first half to end and HJK are up by two.

46' Levida kickoff the second half of play

48' Mikko Kuningas (HJK) is assessed a yellow card.

52' Levida make the first substitution; Marko Perlin comes in for Ivan Hanson

55' Levida make another substitution this time Sergei Stokas comes in for Perlin, what a waste of a substitution as Perlin is not injured.

89' Steven Mosnikov (Levida) is given a yellow card

90' There will be one minute of stoppage time

90+1' HJK defeat Levida by a final score of 3-0 and have a huge advantage via away goals

Post Match Analysis:
That was a very easy match and I mean too easy, this club we faced looked extremely lethargic and unmotivated. Such a sham as I was hoping for something more exciting. The thing I don't get is them subbing the same guy twice in a three minute span and he wasn't hurt. Anyways a 3-0 lead coming back home is massive and it looks like we will be advancing

Very good result mate, on to the next round of the Champions League!
A very comfortable victory.... you could even afford to throw out the youth team for the second leg! :))
mgriffin2012 Was too easy

Justice I like that idea, thanks coach!

Group 1 Unseeded Teams

Group 2 Seeded Teams

Group 2 Unseeded Teams

Here is the draw:

Champions-Third Qualifying Phase

My thoughts:
"Hmm I do not know what to say but our draw was very interesting. We will either be playing Legia Warsaw of Poland or FC Daugava of Latvia. Currently it is looking like it will be Legia who are leading 3-0 as well after the first leg. They are a really good club so this could be a major test for us and I think we can pull something off. This will be a massive test and I think we should be ready.
Legia wont be easy that's for sure, but I suppose it could have been worse. Good luck mate!
Tough draw, best of luck!
Tough draw in Legia but definitely one your HJK team can come out of strongest!
Everyone: Thanks for the support, this will be a hard two matches

Hiltunen's big day as Klubi outclass FC Levadia

Klubi’s quest for Champions League glory in 2020/21 remains on course after the beat down of Estonian club FC Levadia after a 4-2 victory, sending the Finnish champions through to the Champions Third Qualifying Phase after 7-2 on aggregate. With manager Kévin Gauthier playing mostly backups and reserves the clubs risk paid off.

Leading 3-0 from the first-leg in Tallinn, Klubi knew they would have to play without any errors against the Estonian side, if they wanted to advance to the next round. Well in front of a 9,662 person crowd HJK were able to put on a show thanks to an amazing day by striker Juho Hiltunen who scored two goals thanks to some amazing play by winger Jonathan Ikone.

The match started off with a bang in the first 20 second s of the match as Juho Hiltunen scored his first goal fourteen seconds in. He would then grab his second awhile later in the 24th-munute from a beautiful cross by Jonathan Ikone. Hiltunen looked unstoppable at this point and so did Klubi. Ilmari Ylönen was able to widen the lead with a well-placed finish in the 51st-minute. It wasn’t over though as Levadia would get two goals back in both the 69th and 71st-minutes. Jonathan Ikone would cap off his amazing day with a goal in the 87th-minute giving HJK a 7-2 victory on aggregate.

Next up for Klubi will be a very challenging matchup against Polish giants Legia Warsaw in the Champions-Third Qualifying Round. The matches are set for 29 July and 5 August. Klubi gets to play at home for leg one. Until then HJK will be facing PK-35 on 26 July away from home.

Eased into the next round mate, keep it up! :D

July Review

One of the most busiest months of the season saw Klubi have to adapt to match congestion. In this month the club played five league matches while playing three in Champions League. The reason for the success was that manager Kévin Gauthier was keen on rotating the squad. It had worked as the club continued to widen the gap with a thirteen point lead over SJK in the table.

July began with three straight league victories over HIFK, Jaro and VPS. In the three matches Klubi would only allow one goal. After that was the start of the Champions League campaign, here with the first match up against FC Levadia HJK would completely outclass the opposition in route to a 7-2 victory on aggregate. Between the Champions League matches there would be two league matches to play. In both cases Klubi would score 2-0 victories in both contest. The final match of the month came from the Third Qualifying Round against Legia Warsaw. Sadly we lost 1-0 thanks to an own goal.

Player of the Month:

Juho Hiltunen was by far the best play on the pitch this month with a total of seven goals all month long. It was a hard decision as both Mohammed Diallo and Giorgi Muradashvil had amazing months as well. Juho was just on fire scoring at will and making the opposing defense look silly at most of the time.

Managers Thoughts:
I really did not think July would ever end haha. Seriously it was a long month and was very tiring on me and the squad, at least the rotation is working well. On the league front things are going as planed and no complaints. For Champions League it has been decent up to the last result. I can't believe how good Legia are and we couldn't do anything against them, oh and that own goal stings like hell. I hope the next leg is better.

What to look forward to in August:
Outside of league play there is Europe. If Klubi win in the second leg they will advance in Champions League, if they lose then it is off to the Europa League. Match dates will change depending on the dates for Europe. Also August sees the club back in Suomi Cup action against IFK Mariehamn on August 16th.

Doing really well in the league mate but just a shame about that first leg defeat but its not too insurmountable :P
Flying highhhhhh, great stuff!
