Inter held to a 0-0 at home vs Club Brugge!

After 3 matches played in Group G, Salzburg lead with 6 points, Inter 2nd 5, Porto 4 and Brugge 1.

Marcel Schmid - It's huge to go top of the group at this stage! It's our star players who shine once again to put us into the position that we want and need to be in to be able to progress.

We came out with high intensity which I wanted to see to shock Porto and put them on the back foot. Being 2-0 up after just 20 minutes meant we were able to drop off a little and see what they would throw at us.

This is how I want us to start games because it gives us the best chance of catching teams cold, of course it isn't always going to work like that but it is very effective when it does.

Marcel Schmid - The early goal really hurt us as you can see. It is a horrible feeling to have lost to them again and especially in this manner.

I really don't have much else to say we have to do better and we will be doing anything we can to be the ones celebrating next time out.

Ried - You see by this game how teams step up in the cup and we have to be on it every time we step out. We got the job done and can now look towards the Quarter-Final knowing it gets harder every round.
Austria Wien really becoming a bit of bogey team for you! On the other hand, a fantastic result against Porto in the group stage.

They seem to be catching us at the wrong time :(
A victory of real importance against Porto. That certainly helps your cause in trying to qualify from the group. Another loss against Austria highlights some concerns, they appear to have your number. When you meet again, it's vital you look to extract your revenge! I'm sure the players and Marcel himself will be keen to do so. A hard-fought victory in the cup ensures your progression there, good!

Marcel needs to come up with a plan to beat the scumbags
November

Marcel Schmid - It looked like we might have salvaged a draw but to then go onto win is just incredible!
This is what we needed after the Austria W game, to show some spirit and fight in these crucial games is what I want to see from these players. And it's another set piece masterclass by Zlatko. He does it all the time in training and it's a very helpful skill for him to have mastered.

Club Brugge are on the verge of being eliminated from the Champions League after a 1-0 home defeat to Inter.
The result means Brugge stay bottom of Group G with just 1 point from 4 games. They will have to beat Salzburg by 3 or more goals and hope they pick up no more points.

Marcel Schmid - This result is actually good for us because we have the head to head over Porto and our next game is Brugge who are now fighting for a EL place. But it doesn't change anything for me, we go into the last two games looking to win.

We saw their quality today and it just shows what a good result it was when we went to Portugal and got the victory :)

Group G
- 1.Inter 8 points 2.Salzburg 7 points 3.Porto 5 points 4.Club Brugge 1 point.

Admira - It's important to us to win every home game and we were disappointed last time out so this is good for us. A big performance after a tough game in Europe!

Wolfsberger - The fringe players stood up today, we have to rotate a squad that has such quality to keep everyone happy and to keep us going in competitions that are important to us.
It is always nice when things work out how you planned. We have the key players ready for the next game that is vital to our hopes of going to the next round.
A fantastic month for you in all competitions. A draw against Porto consolidates your position in the group, so now it is all about ensuring you pick up a result against Brugge! League-wise things have certainly improved after that loss to Austria, as you may expect.
In a strong position in the Champions League, there! Could another fantastic season in Europe be on the cards? ;)

We are back playing the football we want.

I certainly hope so :)

CL Matchday 5 - Porto 3-1 Inter

FC Porto bag a vital win against Inter moving them into 2nd place and play Club Brugge in the last game.

Marcel Schmid - What a game! They gave it everything to take something from this one, but we have Smail (Prevljak) :)
It's another big win for us but nothing is decided after Porto won. We are going to have to take something from the San Siro!

CL - 1. Salzburg 10 points 2. Porto 8 points 3. Inter 8 points 4. Brugge 1 point - Eliminated

LASK - Another big away win in the league. I think we look much better on the road this season, I trust us to get the job down whatever is going on.
December -

5/12 Salzburg 1-0 St. Polten - Once again I can just say we got the job done. We are so close to progressing in the CL again I couldn't take any risks, but this season we have the squad to cope with rotation and we can trust those who come in to do a job for us. There would have been no excuses if we dropped points because the opposition wants those too, but it's all about perspective.

Salzburg need just a point from this game to assure they go through to the next round. Inter will come into this needing a win as Porto play their final game tomorrow and Brugge haven't registered a win yet...

Marcel Schmid - Now we have to rely on another team slipping up for us to meet our objective :(
This may be the most disappointing performance of my time here because we didn't look up for it a tall. We know they have quality but we have to make teams work to score and some of those goals where too easy.

I have nothing else to add.

YOU LUCKY FOOLS!!!

Marcel Schmid - Thank you Club Brugge! I was really expecting to come here today being very disappointed and angry that we didn't grasp the advantage we had, but instead we are celebrating again!
We certainly didn't make it easy for ourselves but we have shown enough to go through and we are eagerly anticipating the draw :)
