2022 Youth Intake

-----

Busy trying to identify talent to bring to the club, 1860 Munich’s Head of Youth Development Manfred Paula has identified three terrific prospects who all have the potential to develop into great players for the club.

-----

Christian Schmidt

A supporter of 1860 Munich since he was young, Schmidt appears to be the strongest prospect of the new youth players. Possessing outstanding teamwork and work rate, the 15-year-old is expected to be sought after by clubs with a lack of talent in the position currently.

-----

Dominik Abesser

Abesser is a promising striker who has great pace and acceleration, using it to his advantage when looking to play the ball past his opponents. The 15-year-old already has a good working relationship with 1860 Munich manager Daniel Bierofka as a player from the local region.

-----

Mehran Rahmati

Despite lacking in technical areas, Rahmati is an incredibly determined young man. The promising German born centre back of Iranian descent is known as a hard worker and a perfectionist which coaches believe will assist him in making up for any deficiencies.

Eion97: Not too upset and good to be back mate

Justice: Haha there it is

Not a bad intake at all. Hopefully these three youngsters can help in the future
1
Every right to be satisfied with that intake. Some players who could definitely play a role for the club’s senior side in the future.

March 2022

-----

Results

In their poorest month since the start of the season in September, 1860 Munich claimed just three points from four matches in March. Despite lacking in form, Die Löwen were competitive against FC Koln and rivals Bayern Munich, going down by one goal in both fixtures.

They lost heavily against Borussia Dortmund who have been inconsistent all season but managed to defeat Union Berlin after a match winning goal from Musa Barrow.

-----

Bundesliga

RB Leipzig hold a two-point lead at the top of the table over Bayern Munich while three other sides remain in the title hunt. At the bottom of the table, 1860 Munich are currently seven points clear of relegation while last placed Hannover 96 need a large reversal of form to remain in the Bundesliga.

-----

Player Of The Month

Musa Barrow

After scoring three goals in four matches, the Gambian international has continued to impress in his first season playing in the Bundesliga. It is expected that the 23-year-old will look to seek an improved contract with the club at the very least with a number of clubs looking to sign the striker.

-----

Injury Report

The 1860 Munich squad currently has a clean bill of health.

-----

Fixtures

Five league fixtures await 1860 Munich in April as they look to seal their place in the Bundesliga for next season. Matches against Hannover 96 and Mainz 05 will be key in ensuring this occurs.

The clubs closest to 1860 Munich on the Bundesliga table in FC Koln and VfL Wolfsburg appear to have slightly harder schedules to navigate in their final seven games.

Eoin97 & Justice: Satisfied with who we have brought in, keeping them will be the bigger issue
Can’t really be disappointed with those league defeats, considering who the opponents were. Next month is going to be make or break, particularly with the games against the relegation fighters. With seven games to go this season, a good run of results now could potentially catapult you a few places up the table. In terms of your own relegation battle, I’d imagine you would only need another 5-6 points to secure your safety, if 3 of those points come from the game against Mainz.
1
A difficult month. Hopefully your side can pick itself up after it, as a dip in confidence can often lead to a landslide of bad results. Being 7 points clear, you should be safe from relegation with 7 games left given the quality players you possess, but don't get too complacent.

April 2022

In response, 1860 Munich claimed a 2-0 away victory against Hannover 96 before losing their next away fixture against Mainz 05.

In their last home fixture of the month, 1860 Munich drew with TSG Hoffenheim before losing heavily to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in a poor display.

-----

Bundesliga

RB Leipzig find themselves in prime position to claim the Bundesliga title with two games remaining while Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich remain in striking distance.

In the relegation battle, Union Berlin and Hannover 96 have been confirmed to be playing in the Bundesliga 2 next season while 1860 Munich, VfL Wolfsburg, FC Koln and Mainz 05 are the sides that are in contention to play in the Bundesliga/2. Bundesliga play-off.

-----

Player Of The Month

Philipp Steinhart

Continuing to play above expectations, the 29-year-old put together another solid and consistent month in April. His performance in the 1-1 draw against TSG Hoffenheim a highlight, seeing him create multiple chances, make key passes as well as providing an assist.

-----

Despite being in a good position to avoid relegation, 1860 Munich will face a tough two final fixtures facing two sides above them in the standings in Schalke 04 and Hertha Berlin.

Justice: The results weren’t surprising but I still never enjoy losing to rivals

Eoin97: Confident in avoiding relegation now with three teams below us and two matches remaining
Going to be a tough final two games but fingers crossed you also manage to avoid the playoffs as well
1
Hopefully the final two games keep you up in the Bundesliga. It's incredibly tight dowrn at the relegation zone, but one win from two should be enough
1
Should be staying up here! Lovely work mate!
1
Looks like you've done enough... Although those could be some famous last words!

1860 Munich Avoid Relegation

Daniel Bierofka has guided his side to safety in the Bundesliga

• 1860 Munich survived relegation despite losing their final fixture against Hertha Berlin
• A transfer budget of around €16,000,000 is expected to be available to strengthen the squad
• Pundits have predicated 1860 Munich to be relegated next season

Results went in the favour of 1860 Munich as they survived relegation and on Saturday and secured their place in the Bundesliga for the 2022/23 season. Finishing three points away from relegation, 1860 Munich have stayed in the top flight despite only winning two of their last thirteen matches.

Predicted to finish last at the start of the season, 1860 Munich saw strong performances from Musa Barrow, Dennis Dressell and Efkan Bekiroglu in their Bundesliga campaign. Defence was a continual problem for the side, conceding the second highest amount of goals in the competition.

“I am proud of the fight shown by my squad throughout the season, they have truly earnt their position in the league.” said 1860 Munich manager Daniel Bierofka. “From here, we must assess our squad and re-build as we hope replicate the achievements of this season.” he added.

Werder Bremen and FC Augsburg have been promoted to the Bundesliga while Hannover 96 and Union Berlin have been relegated to Bundesliga 2. Mainz 05 and FC Nurnberg will playoff to determine who plays in the Bundesliga in the 2022/23 season.

tedbro20, Eoin97, TheLFCFan & ScottT: Despite our best efforts in the final month, we are staying up!
Musa’s middle name must be ‘Wheel’, because he’s carrying your team.
1
Great to see you stay up and with a decent bit of prize money hopefully be able to bring in some decent players with that budget to help you stay clear of a relegation battle next season
1
Well done on staying up in an incredibly competitive Bundesliga! 16mil is a nice sum to spend on any new recruits you may need to bring in. Musa Barrow is a player you MUST KEEP!
