A big win back in league football for Barcelona over Real Sociedad, especially after getting knocked out the cup a few days ago. Matthijs de Ligt scoring the winner and what a player he is at just 21, we have a centre back for the next 10 years at least and he looks like he will become one of the best in world football! How nice it is to unsettle players :)

This isn't what I was expecting when we faced Vallecano, especially with the huge fixtures to play later on in the month. It has to be said we haven't been convincing for a while! Injury time winner from a La Masia product feels good though.

20/2

Cádiz 1-2 Barcelona

There had to be rotation with the two fixtures coming up to close off the month, but it always feels a bit risky as those players aren't getting into the side for a reason. Suárez still started to put us ahead, as there isn't really anyone coming through (The board sold Abel Ruiz IRL and before I joined). Then we were helped out by an own goal from the Home side.

Eoin97:
I did try to negotiate a new deal with a slightly reduced salary but they were having none of it so I was glad that was an option. He is Barca!
Camavinga is brilliant and in today's market we stole him!

When you know what impact playing away has on Barcelona you have to be pleased with a 1-1 draw, despite the fact you concede another late goal to just give the opposition hope

Earlier on in the season the pressing play worked for Barcelona, but it just feels wrong when teams like Lyon are winning the possession battle and having more shots. It wasn’t a bad performance, but it certainly wasn’t one that will excite the Culés. Luckily whenever they have a results that isn’t expected there is a game following that can turn it around.
El Clásico

What will Fornas do to stop Zidane’s men?

Barca vs Real Madrid
Just 3 points separate the two sides Barca (22W 1D 3L 67pts) and Real M (20W 4D 2L 64pts) H2H Real M 1-0
Madrid are unbeaten since 21/11/2020 in all competitions (21 games 18W 3D) They have already beaten Barca 2x this season!

247th meeting of these two sides in all competitions
Barcelona sit on 96 wins to Real Madrid 98 and 52 draws between them

Barcelona move 6 points clear of their only rivals in the title race (Sevilla 19 points behind) They also have grasp of the head to head. It is a huge win for Barca and a huge hit for Zidane’s hopes of lifting the title again

Borja Fornas – It’s clearly a huge result for us! The things we changed today to win the battles that we didn’t in previous matches worked well for us. The whole team came together to do a job and we got hold of the midfield in a way we strive for.

I think I speak for the players when I say this is not the title over. 11 games remain and we know the team we stopped today have been so consistent this season, that was 21 games unbeaten for them and if that was us, we wouldn’t say a blip like that ends our hopes.

These are the games you wait for during a season and I just felt like a kid again standing there listening to Cant del Barça it’s magical and I would like to thank everyone who came today. We are in this together! Visca El Barca...

Very good stuff in the league. Unlucky to be knocked out by Villareal in the cup though but now you can focus even more on the league, and bring it back to Cataluna ;) And I love how Messi is still banging them in fairly consistently. Age is only a number for a GOAT
A very important result but the title is far from sealed given some of your underwhelming performances lately.

Eoin97:
It's important to look at the bigger picture. For us at the moment the cup isn't the priority and you have to applaud the opposition for stepping up like that.

ScottT:
Absolutely! We aren't putting games away which is a real worry considering the history of this side.

March

6/3

How did we not win! Another disappointment on the road and the lead is cut to 4. After a huge win last time out the pressure comes back on to the Catalonians, their only shot equalled a goal.

13/3
Getafe 0-1 Barcelona
Rotation before the big CL game was required and it payed off! A nice early goal against the side surprisingly struggling this season.

16/3

If we lose in this R16 tie, we could be sacked so its huge! Barcelona have their strongest XI available with the goalscorer from their league game Arthur remaining in midfield. Lyon are very consistent this season but coming to the Camp Nou is a whole different challenge as they know from experience. The last two meetings here Lyon conceded 5, including the 5-1 at this stage in 2018/19.

An outstanding display from Barcelona moves them into the quarter finals! The front 3 were too much to handle for the French side with Suárez scoring the goals and assists from the other 2.
Just 2 shots from Lyon they couldn’t put any sort of fight up against Barca who showed their credentials in this competition.

18/3

A good time to announced Luis Suárez’s new contract after a display like that! He would have been a free agent in the summer but FCB moved in with a 2-year deal that sees his wage drop from £525k a week.

20/3

The month is rounded off with just the 2nd lot of points dropped at home all season and it’s just 1 win in 3 La Liga games which has given Real Madrid hope of catching this stuttering side now!

Messi was the only Barcelona to turn up after the CL game and his two goals wasn’t enough to save them once again.

Borja Fornas – We have made things hard for ourselves this month. You see us in the CL compared to the league and would think it’s two different teams. It is safe to say now we have to be perfect in April if we want to achieve success, I’ve been speaking to the players and we all want to be doing things better so in this 2 week break we will be working on a lot of things to give us that extra push at this late stage.

Barcelona will head to the Parc de Princes against the team who knocked out Real M at this early stage on Wednesday 7th April and the return will be 13th April, in between that Barca will host Atlético Madrid in a vital La Liga game.

The winner of this tie will play the winner of Chelsea/Porto.

Exciting times!
Good results all round. Great job in getting Suarez to sign on a new deal which sees his wage lowered significantly, but is he worth 400k per week at 34? We will have to see!

He's still scoring goals and high up in the hierarchy :)

3/4

Barcelona 0-0 Villarreal

It’s the 4th draw of the season and more worryingly it’s now just 1 win in 4!

Real Madrid won 2-0 vs Eibar puts them just 3 points behind with a game in hand (to be played May) with 7 matches remaining.

It was similar line-up for both side who faced off in that CDR match at the same venue in February, but neither side could find the net despite a few chances a piece. Notably Messi and Suárez were unused subs in the game which tells you Fornas was relatively happy with the outcome.

7/4

These two sides have met 8 times in this competition (2 GS) with Barcelona making it 4 wins and 2 draws.

2013 – QF PSG 2-2 Barcelona, Barcelona 1-1 PSG (3-3a)
2014 – GS PSG 3-2 Barcelona, Barcelona 3-1 PSG
2015 – QF PSG 1-3 Barcelona, Barcelona 2-0 PSG (5-1)
2017 – R16 PSG 4-0 Barcelona, Barcelona 6-1 PSG (6-5)

We know that Barcelona are now the comeback against kings :(

There will be no Neymar reunion as once again he is injured before the big ones. He was on hand to knock Real Madrid out in March but suffered an Achilles tendon injury to put him out for the season!

PSG made it to this stage last season but were knocked out by finalists Bayern. They haven’t reached the Semi-finals since 1995, their only appearance at that stage.

Just 2 losses in all competitions for PSG, and they were in the CL 2-0 A Porto and 1-0 A Real M. 37 pld 32W 3D 2L. The Ligue 1 title is just a formality now the Parisians need to remove past demons and get through this tie!

Not the most dramatic game between these two sides but Thomas Tuchel has definitely made them a force in Europe. Barcelona didn’t control possession and that early goal for PSG really gave them the desire to keep going, up until the ‘little man’ got the equaliser.
It wasn’t a bad game but when you compare what Liverpool did to Bayern it’s not too exciting!

10/4

A must win game against an underachieving Atlético, but one with a lot of quality.
Ansu Fati allowed Barca to just control possession and stifle any attacks from the away side. A performance that you take at this late stage of a season before a big European tie!

Nice!

Barcelona make it through to the Semi-Finals after a pulsating 90 minutes!

Chances at both ends throughout, but Suarez nodded in a Griezmann cross a fabulous header, which looked to be the winner, until... An 88th minute penalty after VAR deemed de Ligt to have handled it. It was down to the former Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic to send it to extra time, a substitute on the hour mark. He rolled his socks up..
Ter Stegen saves!

FT Barcelona do it against PSG AGAIN!

Injury news - Messi was substituted after 41 minutes. He went down holding his knee and the news from the club suggests it's a pretty bad one!

Borja Fornas - What an amazing win. We have the best goalkeeper in the world to thank today!
We played well enough to score earlier to help ease the pressure but we know what Suarez is about and we are happy to keep him here for a long time yet.
From what I have heard we won't see Lionel in the SF and that hurts because we know what he brings us. We wish him well in recovery and we will do whatever we can to make that as quick as possible.

CL QF
Runners-up of last year’s competition suffer their worst defeat in Europe with a 6-0 aggregate loss. Hansi Flick left after failing to win any titles and Diego Simeone took over to restore their dominance, but Leipzig still have the lead.

Tuesday 6th April saw Chelsea lost 2-0 at home against Porto which puts the Portuguese side firmly in charge of that tie.
Manchester City got a late penalty to win 1-0 at home against Juventus.

Porto’s 1-1 draw means they reach the semi-finals for the first time since they won it in 2004! Sérgio Conceição defies all odds in a historic CL run.

Manchester City through to a successive SF where they will face the team that knocked them out of the FA Cup and league challengers Liverpool!
A very kind UCL SF draw, and funny to see City facing their arch nemesis in UCLs of recent years in Liverpool. Hopefully Lionel Messi and Co can push you to a well deserved UCL win ;)
Any team who have made it this far into the competition are a threat. Good luck against Porto.
19/4

Sevilla have done it! It is their first silverware since winning the Europa league in 2016!

Real Madrid entered their first final since winning it in 2014, but despite their consistency throughout the season they fall in the CDR like many seasons prior!

2019 saw Valencia win the trophy in the final year before the revamp and we have had two new winners since then. The change was much needed to bring excitement and a real chance of winning something for the clubs outside of the top 3!

20/4

Betis Vs Barca
Just 6 games remain in the league, so every game is huge!
No Messi after that injury vs PSG. 2 wins in the last 5 in the league, if Barca fail to win here Real Madrid will have it in their hands!

A week break obviously wasn’t enough! The team missed Messi’s magic once again. First defeat since Jan and now Madrid have the games in hand to go clear at the top!

Real Madrid don't do losing!

We pin our hoped on Atletico :0

24/4

They could ill afford to rotate heavily against Eibar, more dropped points would have surely sealed Barca’s fate but Ansu Fati came up with the goods late on! He was an unused sub vs Betis, but gave the manager something to think about heading into the huge semi-final in Europe!

Borja Fornas -
We are saddened about the Betis match, but there is nothing we can do about that now. We have to trust in our abilities to win the games that are left and hope for something to go for us. The squad is well aware of what it takes to get to this stage of the competition, we must give everything to make it further. I believe it's good to look back on what went wrong before despite the pain felt. We are Barcelona. Whatever has happened we want to always win what's next.

Eoin97:
We are going to have to be without him for a little while :(. Them two have a real race going on in all comps!

ScottT:
Conceição has worked wonders, so we must be ready!

Thanks for reading guys! :)
So, so tight at the top! Hope to see you hold off Real ;)
