Just a bit, but Alba had another mare! :(

Well done Man U! Not quite the European trophy that they want to achieve, but it is a trophy and a route into the CL.

Hansi Flick got Bayern playing some of the best football since the days of Guardiola, unlucky that they faced their old boss here and couldn't get the better of him.

They were let down by Alaba and Thiago in the penalties, maybe two people you would expect to score.
City finally get the top honour in club football, will UEFA bottle banning them?

Pep is now joins the incredible list of managers to have won the European cup/Champions League 3x

Bob Paisley, Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane!

Spain is now joint with Italy on 11, with the most titles by Nationality!

Quique Setién leaves FC Barcelona after just 141 days in charge! Assistant manager Eder Sarabia will follow out the door.

Setién – It’s with a heavy heart that we announce today we will be leaving the club with immediate effect. What has been achieved in this relatively short amount of time with these players shouldn’t go unnoticed, we were brought in to do a job in the short term and I believe we have.

We know the club is desperate to be the kings of Europe again and we tried hard to make that happen, but I have to take full responsibility for what happened that day.

We have been in constant communication with Bartomeu since the arrival, he didn’t force us and although this is my dream job, I thought it was in the best interests of the club to go in a different direction.

Me and my staff will never forget this experience and we will always treasure the moments of glory (lifting the La Liga trophy), thank you from the very bottom of my heart.

Visca El Barca

Will Pep Return?

Marcelo Gallardo is also a name in the hat

Looking forward to who steps up.

Manager Press Conference

3rd Youngest Barcelona coach!

Josep Maria Bartomeu – Hello and welcome everybody. We are delighted today to announce our new head coach! This is a man new to the management side of this game, but we have full confidence in his abilities to showcase them and be a success in his time at the club.

It was the club’s responsibility to get a new manager in quickly to give them a full summer to work with the staff and players to understand each other so we can achieve our objectives in the new season.

Please welcome Borja Fornas into the Barcelona family

Borja Fornas – Thanks everybody. This is a very special day for me and my family, I grew up watching and supporting this team with my father, so it means so much for me to get the opportunity.

I wasn’t searching for a job as I was planning to have a bit of time off before looking at what I could do next after the fantastic season with Zaragoza last season. But, as soon as I got the call I snapped at the opportunity. I seriously believe in my own abilities to win here, which is important for a club like this. Our objectives are to win everything, they have to be. I want the team to enjoy playing and give the fans a spectacle because this is a sport that gives people joy, and I promise we will do everything possible for that to be the case.

Eric Abidal - I would like to welcome Borja here. We have already had quite a few conversations and it's clear the passion he has for this club and the game and we are very excited that you chose us, so thank you.

Reporter – This is an unexpected appointment; did you originally plan on bringing someone in with more experience?

Bartomeu – We were always hoping for Quique to stay for at least another season, but he gave us his reasons for leaving and we accepted them. The main thing for us was making a quick decision but also the right one. Of course there are many people who want this, but we believe in who has been chosen.
Thanks for the question.

Reporter – Was Xavi not considered to take over like many expected?

Bartomeu – We know Xavi has ambitions to manage this club one day, but it wasn’t the right time.

Reporter – Will you be seeking re-election next summer?

Bartomeu – I don’t think that is important in this moment, the season has just begun and I am here now so that’s all that matters. There will be a time for me to confirm my decision, but thank you.

Ajax, A.C. Milan and Holland Legend Marco Van Basten appointed as Assistant Manager!
A massive opportunity awaits and a dream comes true, I'm sure.

Scott T:

The honeymoon period doesn't last long at Europe's elite clubs!
Good luck to Barca's new manager. Clearly some talented youngsters in and about with the 'B' team winning the league but then again that is expected at Barca. Look forward to reading this further.
A lot of money spent on Trincao. He has the potential to a great player but needs to be managed carefully. Intrigued to see how he develops.
TheLFCFan - Thanks! A huge advantage is getting the B team to the highest division they can be and keeping it there, so we can develop players to play in Spain.

ScottT - He went up another level last season when the Barca deal was completed. He is an exciting prospect! :)

Messi finally wins a International honour!
He has been runner-up 3 times in this competition and 1x The World Cup Final in 2014!

Many have questioned his want to win with the national side, but he is the top scorer in history and proved what he can do this time around! A hat trick of assists in the Final!

Pre-season was a good one, mainly to get the players playing the new style (Gegenpress).
We want high energy when required to put teams under pressure.

What it told us we need to work on defending and Messi is good.
Losing to Daegu? Fornas out!

:) I don't know how it happened, but we just couldn't put the ball in the net.
