You can never have too many English Wonderkids in your squad.

At Man United there are already some in the squads but i wanted more and according to my teams formation and playing style. There were 4-5 specific players i purchased.

See below who i gambled on.

1.
Name: Jadon Sancho (nicknamed: The Kaiser)
Age when purchased: 20 years old
Season when purchased: 2020\21
Cost (and club): B.Dortmund £49.5M (plus £18.5M after 50 league games so £68M total)

Success or failure: Success …..and played 3-full-seasons for me.

It took over 8 months of trying and negotiations but I eventually got The Kaiser. The lad can play football and he scores goals, gets assists, loves big games and is very keen to win as much as possible in the English Premier league. He can play immediately so you don’t need to worry about an ‘adaptation period’

If you can get him cheaper than £68M, bravo to you!!

In my FM save, Brexit has really affected the cost of English talent. It’s become a little bit of a nightmare. At the start of Season 5 I have over half a billion pounds for transfer funds. I successfully negotiated for Jadon Sancho at the beginning of season 2, and I believe if you wait any longer the price for him will be easily closer to £100M maybe over.
His stats get better and game time really helps his improvement. He is a selfish player so sometimes he can frustrate you and your game tactics.

2.
Name: Mason Mount (nicknamed: Triple M)
Age when purchased: 24 years old
Season when purchased: 2022\23
Cost (and club): Chelsea £13M

Success or failure: Success……and wow did I get a lucky bargain!!!

I know that you look at his age and say ‘he is too old’. Yes, but when you start FM20 he is a wonderkid and yes, I tried many times to buy him, offered great money for him, I even offered money plus a part-exchange player as well. However, all were rejected.

Then I had a message from his agent to say his client, Marvellous Mason Mount (Triple M), was available and that £15M should be enough. Well, thank you Chelsea and the new manager for not giving him game time. The new manager wanted him sold and I was very happy to finally get my man!!!

Mason Mount has already given me assists, Man of the Match performances, adapted very well into the squad and the way we play. He is very reliable, great stats, takes good free-kicks and in general adds a positive atmosphere with many other players liking him.

3.
Name: Jude Bellingham (nicknamed: Judge Judy)
Age when purchased: 18 years old
Season when purchased: 2022\23
Cost (and club): Birmingham £19.5M

Success or failure: Success…… he has even surprised me!!!

When I bought him, I never thought these stats would be possible from the young Birmingham player. See below his 1st team stats:
Apps: 11 (13), Goals: 4, Assists: 3, PoM: 1 and Avg. rate: 7.16

That is absolutely phenomenal. He has even surprised me. He takes every chance he has in the 1st team and wow can he perform. He is a physical player who can play against all kinds of players. He is adaptable as well and can even play AMR with the role of Advanced Playmaker.

For sure now, I really rate the lad but I was not even interested at the beginning. He was playing championship football and I thought the jump to the Premiership would be too much for him. It would be a long gamble before it could pay off. I was super nervous because of what had happened with Douglas Arezo Martinez (nicknamed: AREZO MESSI).

However, Arsenal wanted him and his agent contacted me. Honestly, I thought 2 things:

A) The money they want is only £19.5M (oh I forgot to mention, also in the contract was that I must arrange a friendly with Birmingham as well)
B) I need English players to help with squad requirements and maybe he could be ready when Pogba is getting too old.

Hahaha…. Well now I have a new problem, he should get a lot more 1st team chances and with Dani Olmo sold to Real Madrid for £86M, I think my midfield is looking good.

4.
Name: Declan Rice (nicknamed: Ant & Dec)
Age when purchased: 22 years old
Season when purchased: 2021\22
Cost (and club): Westham £30M / Part Ex. Andreas Pereira + £30M after 50 league games.

Success or failure: Undecided…. Looking good to be a success though.

I wanted this young man and tried to buy him x3 times in my 1st season. No chance because Westham wanted a lot for their best young English player. That said, I found a way to get the deal done and accepted.

Was it too much money? Yes
Did I miss Andreas Pereira in my squad? No (he was fast becoming a real pain)
Did I expect a lot of Declan Rice? Yes

I was very disappointed with his 1st season at United. I understood that he had never played for a big club, or any other club than Westham but the premiership is the premiership. Therefore, I thought it would be a quick and easy jump from Westham to Man United.

His 2nd season was a lot better and he has really played well, been a big player for us and maybe other signings (for example Mason Mount) has helped him relax.
I have my fingers crossed for the future but I am a lot more happier with him so bring on season 5 at United.

Seaons 5…Wonderkid honourable mention.
With De Gea soon to be out of contract (season 5 will be his last year with us) and he already has a bad injury. I am looking to bring in the long-term future. The stats and future look good with the young kid below

Name: Aaron Ramsdale
Position: Goalkeeper
Age: 25 years old
Club and current value: Bournemouth £9.25M

He has already played x2 times for England and is one of the three England Keepers. Pickford, Butland and Ramsdale. I already have Butland as number 2 for De Gea so the prospect of Ramsdale and Butland fighting for the number 1 spot sounds good.

I estimate that the cost will be easily over £20M but I will see what I can negotiate.
