March Review

3-1 @ Vizela
Marcus Edwards

A very frustrating games where our mistakes turned out to be VERY costly, especially two embarrassing errors on defense that ultimately cost us the game.

1-2 vs Portimonense
Fernando Pacheco

And just like that we’ve turned from top 3 contenders to having to fight for that Europa League spot. It’s been a rough 2022 for us and very disappointing to see us drop easy points at this moment of the season.

We had our youth intake! The highlights of the supposed golden generation are: GK Francisco Antunes, DL Manuel Nascimento and ST André Graça. Honorable mentions to MC Bacar Dju from Guinea-Bissau and Ghanaian striker Eric Mohammed.

We go into April just one point behind Braga, even after our collapse. Next month we face Sporting and 7th placed Santa Clara, hopefully we don’t turn March into a winless run.

@Harleygator Too right haha, but his time was over anyways as I wasn't going to have a declining 38 y/o as my highest paid player.

Thanks for reading!
It took me a few minutes to place the name Marcus Edwards, but I just figured out that I signed him last year in my story. £3'500'000 to Leamington from Vitoria in January 2024, and he made a really fine contribution until he eventually left for Southampton for triple the fee we paid. Nice to see him on the scoresheet, as usual, even though results have been poor.

April Review

3-0 @ Sporting

We start off the month with what’s probably our toughest match yet: Sporting away. We could only hold them off for 37 minutes, with the end result being as expected.

1-0 vs Santa Clara
Ricardo Pepi

A great through pass from Pacheco led to Pepi’s 3rd goal of the season. This ends our 3-game skid.

1-2 vs Boavista
Marcus Edwards

A gross mistake from Jorge Fernandes leads to a Boavista goal after two minutes. Just before half time, Musa scores a wonder goal to double Boavista’s lead. Edwards scores off a missed penalty rebound, but it was too late to get back in the game. A very disappointing result leaves us fighting with Boavista for 5th place going into the last matchweek.

We finish April sitting in 5th place with no possibilities of moving upwards, unfortunately. At the very least, we’ve secured the board objectives which mean I will stay with Vitória to start the 2022/23 season. For some weird scheduling reason, we have to wait another 15 days to know the final results of the season though, so you can expect that for the next update.

@Harleygator: We had interest for him from English clubs but eventually he signed an extension with a release clause in the 50 millions. I consider him a key piece going forward so hopefully he’ll stay with us a couple more years at least.

May Review

1-2 @ Belenenses
Marcus Edwards x2

Edwards scored his 10th of the season to give us the lead. Camacho managed to tie it for them in the 54th minute, but another late goal by Marcus Edwards gave us the victory.

Just like that, my first season with Vitória is over (and it only took me like 7 irl months). We’ve completed the objective of qualifying for the Conference League, however, it also feels like we could have done better and we’re definitely setting our bar higher for next season. As we bolstered the team’s finances and we have a good crop of young players coming up, we should be set for success in the coming years. It will be a tough climb, especially considering Sporting just finished an unbeaten season with 29 (!) wins, but we’re certainly going to try.

Here are our team awards for the season:

The initial budgets have been set at 2.5 million dollars for transfers and we have a remaining 1.7 million for wages. The board have also accepted to improve our training facilities, which means an investment of another 2.6 million.

Thanks for sharing this. Thank you so much for sharing your story. At the moment, at the university, I am writing several interesting studies on various subjects, and one of them is about sports achievements. On the page https://edubirdie.com/examples/the-crucible/ I read information useful for me about another object of my research - the book The Crucible, which I need to analyze from the point of view of historicity.
