Who Am I?My name is Marcos Evangelista de Moraes, but in football, I go by the name of Cafu. I played as a full-back in my senior career, venturing from my home city to Europe, becoming one of the most well-know footballers in the 90s and 00s.
I was born in São Paulo, and it was there I started my footballing career. São Paulo has done so much for me, and it is the club I owe my career to. Despite my love and loyalty to the club, I felt I was destined for more, I wanted to play in the Champions League. I joined Spanish club Zaragoza before travelling to Italy and playing for Palmeiras, Roma and Milan. To Brazilians, though, I am best known for my presence in the national team, where I hold the current record of caps, 142.
Why São Paulo? It is the place my career as a player began, and I could think of nowhere better to start my career as a manager. I want to bring success to a club, that, at the moment are in a bad financial state and haven't won the title for 6 years.
