The World Cup. Many football followers around the world believe it is the greatest sporting competition in the world. Every four years, nations join together to watch their country compete for the trophy that recognises their team as the best in the world. The 2014 world cup will be the 20th ever, and it was fitting that Brazil, winner of the most World Cups in history, are to host it.
It remains to be seen which country will be victorious. Will it be the reigning champions, the Spaniards? Will it be the home side who boast an illustrious trophy cabinet, the Brazilians? Could it be the Argentinians who take pride in fielding, arguably, the best player in the world in Lionel Messi? It could even be a total underdog. That’s football.
