Toon & Okikos' 2014 World Cup

The World Cup. Many football followers around the world believe it is the greatest sporting competition in the world. Every four years, nations join together to watch their country compete for the trophy that recognises their team as the best in the world. The 2014 world cup will be the 20th ever, and it was fitting that Brazil, winner of the most World Cups in history, are to host it.

It remains to be seen which country will be victorious. Will it be the reigning champions, the Spaniards? Will it be the home side who boast an illustrious trophy cabinet, the Brazilians? Could it be the Argentinians who take pride in fielding, arguably, the best player in the world in Lionel Messi? It could even be a total underdog. That’s football.

Me (Toon) and Okikos have had the idea of a dual story for a while. We both really liked the idea of collaborating in writing something, but, we agreed that it would take a lot of time to share a save and write it like that, so we decided on something pretty original and something that we can write a lot of story on with minimal in-game info.

We thought it would be appropriate to add the real German squad, as the fake player one is just not realistic and ruins the game in more than one way, and we also added the most recent available online download so that Neymar is playing for Barcelona and Mourinho is back at Chelsea.

This story will just follow the World Cup in 2014, from the group stage draw right up until the moments that the confetti falls down onto the pitch and the winning team celebrate. We hope you enjoy.

Can't wait to see how this turns out, and of course, what teams you two will be using!
Don't really know how you're going to do this, but good luck guys. :)

It was an eventful afternoon today as the groups for the 2014 Brazil world cup were finally drawn, 32 teams learning of the three games they will be playing when they make the journey to the South American nation. The draw was presented by two time world cup winner, Cafu, who currently boasts the record for Brazil international caps.

Cafu told press that ‘it was an honour to draw the groups,’ and that he will be excited to see how his country perform on their home soil, dubbing them ‘favourites to win’, despite Spain’s recent international dominance.

Group A

South Africa

Group B

South Korea

Group C

Group D

Group E

Group F

Ivory Coast
Saudi Arabia

Group G

Group H

Sepp Blatter, current president of FIFA, attended the draw and gave the following speech after the groups had been selected:
"It is a painstaking and difficult process to maintain the respectability of International Football. Every passing year, club football continues to grow in popularity and in promise. What it has in commerciality, World Football has in beauty. History is made at club level, but legacies are made on the World Stage. This edition of the World Cup will be particularly enjoyable for all fans of football because it will be played where its beauty is most appreciated."
Woop woop a collaboration! :D
I see England didn't make it to the cup... i hope thats not an omen lol, good luck with the story guys, will be interesting to see how you do it.
Yay, Australia made it to the world cup. Hopefully they can sneak their way out of that group.
Oh great, USA is in the Group of Death.
Canada makes its first appearance since 1986!! Hopefully this time they manage to score a goal..

Ugh, are you kidding? Have you seen Croatia's?!
No way, tbendis, I'd rather have Japan and Ukraine in my group than Portugal and Ecuador any day.
