Press Conference
football365: So, you sit here today- unveiled as the new manager of Manchester United. As a former player of the club, it must feel strange?
Cantona: No, it is not strange. Manchester United is like a home away from home for me, and the fans are like a family for me. I feel honoured to be given this chance, as a player, as a fan, and as Cantona- myself.
bbcSport: You will be following in the footsteps of your own former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson. After beating off experienced names like Solsjkaer and Blanc to the job, do you think you have what it takes?
Cantona: There is a great History at this club of winning, and a culture of winning. I am here to bring United back into world domination. Ferguson is the greatest manager to manage the club, no doubt for me. I want to create a situation that when I go, you will doubt it. If a bird does not believe it can fly, it will not jump from the nest.
Arvind: Will you be karate-kicking any fans?
Cantona: That is silly question. Of course my legs are gone, so I will karate chop them instead if they cannot get behind the team.
skySports: What will happen with New York Cosmos then?
Cantona: I have many friends working with me on that project for a long time already, and I will stay in touch. My priority lies here now, but that project will continue. Competition is healthy for football. One more obstacle to climb makes us all better teams.
theGuardian: By now you will have surveyed the squad to see any weaknesses and strengths. Is there any chance of you letting us know?
Cantona: Does a magician reveal his secrets before the show is out?
Justice: If you buy seven oranges for 49p and then sell eighteen apples for 88p, how many bananas will you have left?
Cantona: Only one banana for the monkey that wrote this joke. That's all he deserves.
